When I took him in, I wasn't so sure that I wouldn't have to have him put down - that's how bad it was. The vet couldn't not have been nicer. He really liked her right off the bat, which was a relief in itself. She took a sample from his ear, checked it in their lab and told me it was no big deal. Four years ago yesterday on December 14, 2013 our family grew a little bigger, when we went to Carson City PetSmart as DTCR was there having an adoption event. We visited several of the cutest pups that they had there that day as my husband came around the corner to Bohobi aka Hobey and his sibling Donzia he just knew that he was 'The One'. So he asked his Foster Mom if he could take him for a stroll around the store and as he walked with him, that was the moment again that my husband instantly connected with Bohobi aka Hobey. He just knew that Hobey would be a perfect fit for our home, so he introduced me and my Daughter to him with us falling in love with him too. We talked with Dorothy and his Foster Mom, filled out the appropriate paperwork next we knew Hobey was a part of our family, forever in our hearts. Bohobi aka Hobey has been the BIGGEST blessing to our home, our lives and his furry Sister Sadie just adores him. Both of them reminding us everyday to enjoy the little things in life by showing how easy it is to give gratitude, being goofy by not being afraid to laughing at ourselves, their unconditional love each time they greet us, showing us loyalty while being non-judgmental and encouraging us to get up to get out while enjoying the great outdoors for a walk or hike. DTCR is an AMAZING non-profit that helps many fur babies aka dogs and rehomes them with fabulous families, just like ours. I am extremely disappointed and heartbroken over our experience here. We brought our cat, Bandit,…read morein because he was very sick, weak, losing weight, and clearly not himself. I was already extremely emotional and scared, and instead of feeling like we had a team trying to help us, I felt like the first priority was how much money we could pay. Before even running tests to determine what was wrong with him, we were being asked about the cost. I understand that veterinary care costs money and that businesses have to charge for their services, but when someone is sitting there crying and desperately trying to help their pet, there should be compassion and some effort to explain the options clearly not make them feel like they are being forced into an impossible financial decision. We ultimately had to make the heartbreaking decision to put Bandit to sleep. I will always wonder whether something could have been done for him if we had been given a real opportunity to find out what was wrong and discuss treatment options before being pushed toward the cost of everything. We were charged around $500 for the euthanasia and cremation. I understand cremation is an additional service, but being charged that much after feeling like there wasn't much effort made to actually help save him has left me feeling devastated and taken advantage of. The most painful part is that I didn't feel like Bandit was being treated as a life that mattered. I felt like I was being treated as a customer and a dollar amount during one of the worst moments of my life. I held Bandit's hand while he received his final shot. He was a cat we found and rescued and became part of our family. We loved him, and we wanted to help him. I just wish I had felt that the people caring for him wanted the same thing. I hope this experience is taken seriously and that other families in a similar situation are given more compassion, transparency about costs, and genuine options before being put in the position we were in.

The owner came and took care of my kitty at home for three days. She did a great job. She took care of my kitty and sent photos daily. Great communication...my cat stayed safe at home and the cost was less than or equal to boarding at the vet.

She was extremely anxious while we waited in the examining room, clutching my legs and trying to climb into my lap (she's nearly 50 pounds). When Dr. Suzi Lanini came into the room she immediately sat down on the floor by Ellie, spoke to her softly, and without rushing reassured her, then did the whole exam while sitting there. I asked if I should get blood work done, but the Dr. said that unless I just wanted a baseline, there was no need as Ellie's vitals and exam results were fine. I appreciate not being pressured to spend money unnecessarily.
