I recently purchased a glass shower door here. There were delays because of the hardware that I chose (backordered), but Anita did an excellent job of keeping me updated and offering alternative solutions if I didn't want to wait (choosing different hardware or having the door installed without the knob). The installation process was smooth, but the timing is a little unconventional. I'm pretty sure that Evan only does the installs after 5pm...as long as you are OK with that, it's great. He came twice: once to measure and once to install (with another guy). It took about 45 minutes the second time. That was about two weeks ago, and we have had no leaks or problems. I see some of the negative reviews here, and will admit that if you want someone to hold your hand and charm you, New Art may not be the place for you. If you want quality fixtures at a good price, and are OK with a competent, efficient, but not effusive salesperson, go with New Art. I am happy that we did. read more

Anita help me get a customized vanity / sink combo that I couldn't find any where else (even on the web). The team there even help drill additional holes into the sink top. Anita was very easy to talk to over the phone and communicated promptly by email. I wish I actually set foot in the shop before picking up the vanity I ordered over the phone / email. The selection here is awesome and the prices beat alot of internet retailers as well. They stock both traditional and contemporary fixtures. (Grohe, Toto, hansgrohe - home depot doesn't stock these higher end fixtures) When I went to pick up the vanity, the staff was very friendly and even un-packaged and re-packaged the sink top to have me inspect the additional drilled holes. BATHROOM VANITY| My husband and I decide to get our bathrooms remodel. Running in and out of the city because my husband want a cabinet that touch the floor ( not lifted nor legs ) and the counter top must be in one piece. There weren't much options and New Art has what we are looking for. We placed a order for 2 cabinets and ETA for both cabinets take 2-3 weeks ( not a big deal ) however, Anita ( bosslady? ) doesn't have decency to call us to give us a status. This place was referred to me by a co-worker and it's a great place to buy bathroom fixtures if you know exactly what you want. They have one price for everyone- whether you're a contractor or a DIYer. They charge approximately 40% off retail for most everything which is pretty hard to beat. New Art is not the type of place you go to if you want design ideas or want some general advice on whether you should get showehead A or showerhead B. But if you've already done all your research you can either stop by or call them with the model numbers and they can order it for you. They have a showroom, but it doesn't really reflect everything you can buy through them. If you don't see something you want in the showroom you should ask to look through their catalogs and they can still order it for you at a discount. New Art doesn't deliver directly to the remodeling site, but it is free delivery to their warehouse and then you or your contractor will need to pick up the items from them. read more

This was the worst experience ever! We needed a shower glass measured for one of the properties in heart of Castro. I called, asked for an estimate, lady said its $100 deposit and someone will get back to me, paid $100. After few days of waiting for a call back I called myself anxious to find out what happened. She said the installer will call back, I wait a few days again - nothing. Finally called again, she said go ahead and call the installer yourself, got the 650 number, called, left a message. Few days go by, I called again, this time installer called me back, said they are very busy and the only time they have for me is Saturday or Sunday 6pm!!!! Seriously? 6pm? On Sunday? Well that didn't work out, I called again - nothing, they just were too busy to schedule us in, we have 40 properties under our management. Too bad they don't want our money. Have CBS Building Supply do your glass, very friendly, came the same day and were very kind. Love the price too! Don't do business with these guys, call CBS Building Supply instead. Will wait for my glass to get installed and I'm reviewing CBS next. read more

Great prices on well, you know the "G" fixtures. Probably the best prices in the Bay Area! But Anita is over worked and doesn't have time to really help customers with all the information...on toilets... I asked about the Gerber toilet for sale but she never had a real strong opinion on which ones were better. Luckily, due to her lagging on getting me information (she finally did), I ended up with a Toto from her. Do your research before you buy. Don't rely on retailers or salespeople to give you the skinny. I almost bought the Gerber based on the brand name and style:( Thank gawd, I ended up with a Toto based on it's flush performance...found on the internet... Look up "Terry Love and Toto". Bought quite a few thousand dollars of items from her actually and should have purchased EVERYTHING from her. For you toilet purchasers out there, never buy a toilet based on its outwardly appearance! One message to Anita, treat your paying and or potential customers with utmost respect...even if you are overworked. After standing and being completely ignored my mom had to walk up and ask the lady if we could get some assistance and she blurted out "what do you want!" How rude and unprofessional! My mom said "well it would be nice to receive some customer service. I would like to know the cost of this cabinet please" the rudest lady ever responds "$799 and take 3 week!" WTF...My mom and I just walked out. Anita is extremely rude and unprofessional and she is not the appropriate person to work with customers EVER. I made the mistake of buying some bath fixtures at another place before discovering New Art. We had to haggle and waste so much time at this other place, and in the end, we still paid more than what New Art would have charged. They have a pretty decent showroom for bath fixtures, so you can get pretty good ideas of what you might like, but it does help if you know the exact items that you want as this doesn't seem like a place that will help you design your dream bath. Unlike most other places, they will give you quotes over the phone or via email . The person that I've dealt with on several occasions is Anita. You'll notice immediately that she is no-nonsense and will simply give you the lowest price right away. It's a very efficient operation that leaves you feeling good about the price you paid and builds loyalty. The only minor drawback is their location. It's a bit cumbersome to get there, but I'm ok with it since they don't have to pass along high rent costs into the products they sell. Overall, this place rocks. read more

One of the faucets I bought, my contractor could not install it properly. I had undergo some heated discussions with them to get the whole thing resolved. I do agree with the other reviews - that it helps to have a good idea of what you're looking for. I've been to k&b in san mateo, to bath and beyond in sf, and i don't know about you but i never get a good feeling going to those places - i just feel like i'm (a) getting ripped off and (b) that the salespeople have some major attitude, like they've really got much more important things to do. They have the same stuff the expensive show rooms have but at a better price. Although they might not be overzealously friendly, but they are very practical and can multitask. We bought a bunch of stuff and Anita was able to find info REALLY fast and was really quick on email. There was one one item our plumber couldn't figure out and they went out of their way to look at the piece, take it apart and find out what was wrong. They quickly had a new part on order and notified us when it arrived. You can even call them for a quote and they will tell you over the phone... none of this 'just come on by and see what we have.' they can either get it or they will tell you if they can't. Great selection of water-efficient Toto toilets, a brand the higher end places don't even carry. They also have a nice variety of kitchen sinks and faucets, and a decent amount of bathroom sinks/vanities. Compared to other places, they did have fewer bathroom faucets (and bathtubs) I thought. However the pricing was much better - we compared a kitchen faucet (same brand and model) from here and Ferguson and it was literally half the price.
