I am amazed at how complicated it is to redo a small simple bathroom. Working with Keoki at the Ferguson showroom made it easier, as did sourcing almost everything from Ferguson and its cousin, Build.com. The showroom is well laid out, two floors, attractive, not confusing, with a range of prices from, say, Delta, Moen and Kohler to higher end brands. (I think lower costs on the bottom floor, higher-end upstairs.) Free parking lot to the side of the building, which you need in the Mission. It's important to see and touch as many of these products as you can. We worked with Keoki Garner. He was well informed, timely, easily available, and collaborative. He stayed cheerful when I overrode him and then changed things last minute (due to my own mistakes.) I loved that I could do research on Build.com and then bring it to Keoki. He never upsold or resisted when I went, say, for Kohler over Grohe. Everything so far has been delivered impeccably and undamaged. Build.com offers an enormous range of products, and I like that too. You can return within a reasonable amount of time. We haven't started construction yet but almost everything is sourced and in the garage.We have a clear billing record so much came from Build.com. I ended up gravitating to some more expensive fixtures, but not because of pressure, because of my own preference. I'd definitely do business with Keoki and with Ferguson again. read more

I purchased Rolf kitchen faucet about 6 years ago. I called a plumber company because water pressure was low and they recommended purchasing a new faucet set. I went back to the Ferguson Connecticut site and they carefully listened to me and helped me get a new filter which was sent to my home and installed by me. The plumbing company I had originally called was more interested in selling me something I did not need. I really appreciated the help of the Ferguson customer service person who helped me find the appropriate solution. I am so pleased with my water pressure and lovely faucet now. read more

I have now been to about 7 different bath remodel stores looking for the perfect bath tub. You would think it is easy but I keep finding either sales people who do not care or not really that knowledgable about the differences and there a ton as I am learning. Today I went to Bath and Beyond and ran into a God send: Valarie, with 17 year exp was knowledgable and helpful beyond belief. I live on east coast and was just scouting but even when she knew she was not going to get a commission because I was shipping tub well out of area - Valarie spent probably 45 minutes with me - coaching me on what bath tubs are best suited for me - Regardless of price! I learned so much more in that one session than in hours of internet research and days of talking with people in other show rooms. I even found the perfect tub but since I live on east coast and local manf here cannot really ship in time to meet my time frame - Valarie taught me what to look for and how to find it in NYC. Large showroom with lots of good looking products- but service is the worst I have experienced ever. We tried to book an appointment via online but never got a confirmation so we just walked in. After walking around the showroom we managed to get one of the 3 sales persons to somewhat reluctantly answer our questions. As she was expecting another customer soon, we agreed that we will follow up with an email for additional questions and then schedule an appointment. I sent our questions via email next day. After two days of no reply, I emailed again asking if my email was received. Then she responded that she indeed received the email and it is on her to-do list. Now one week has gone by with no response and needless to say we will be shopping elsewhere. read more

This place, while beautifully appointed and laid out, is the type of business that I would like to see go away. From the moment I walked in the door, I was treated rudely and with disdain, both by the gentleman behind the information counter, and particularly and most egregiously by the saleswoman assigned to work with me. It may have been that I am young, or that I was dressed in workout gear, but it wasn't until I drop the name of a very expensive cabinet maker who we are working with, that the saleswoman started to look me in the eye and take me seriously. At that point, she even apologized for "starting off on the wrong foot". I was planning to spend a significant amount of money on a whole home remodel here, but walked out with the assurance that I would never spend my money on someone who only treated me with respect when she realized I had it. I was like a kid in a candy store here. I was so impressed with the selection of high-end bathroom and kitchen faucets, sinks, tubs and toilets. I don't need to do anymore research on these items because everything was here. I was glad that they had plenty of American-made, high quality fixtures. More importantly, Ryan, the customer service gentleman was a huge help. I was overwhelmed with all of the items that I needed for my remodel but he narrowed everything down for me and intelligently answered all my questions about the products and directed me throughout the store. He expertly directed me to products that I was seeking. Following my visit, he forwarded me all of my selections in a helpful formatted email with links and useful information. I can see why this place can get a bad wrap. The showroom is so extensive and beautiful that the sales people really don't have time to invest with just the average, regular joe who is browsing, hence the place is only open during the weekdays. If you could see there warehouse you would understand that the people who work there must sell a bunch of shit because there whole warehouse is completely filled with already purchased items. Yes, it took me some time to build rapport with the sales people, but that's just because I was extremely persistent with them. So listen people, this showroom is for serious buyers, architects, contractors, etc.... If you go in there without the slightest clue and don't have the confidence to go up to the sales people and ask questions and make it a point that you are a potential customer than might as well go somewhere else because they most likely have a serious buyer on the phone or on hold. I'll tell you one thing though, it's probably the best one-stop shop for high end bathrooms in the city and that's how I justify my 4 stars! read more

It's hard to understand why Bath + Beyond is open to the public when they so clearly only want to deal with the trade. I guess for us ordinary folk, it's a fun place to look at fixtures and sinks and toilets. Kind of like a museum. To be fair, someone did greet us when we walked in yesterday. He gave us a pad to write down model numbers we might want tear sheets for, and then pointed to a QR code and said that we could also scan those, and he could give us a summary of the information we scanned. That sounds fine, but we never saw a QR code other than the sample one right by the entry. We told him that we had 2 specific items we were looking for, with the model numbers and everything, but he had absolutely no interest in leading us to them, and scurried off quickly, reiterating that he wanted us to go around with our note pad or phone and come back when we were ready. Okay. Right. And one of the items we were going to look at was a toilet costing 6k. We were later able to flag down someone else who agreed to help us and actually had an opinion or 2 to offer up as we were trying to make a decision. So, that was nice. But I can't imagine we'd buy anything here because really, they are looking, I guess, for customers who are doing major remodels or construction projects, not the likes of us. read more

High-end fixtures and other supplies at very high prices (so high, the showroom doesn't show the prices) and sales people who would prefer to be on the phone with customers than working with people who come into their showroom. If you know what you want, and you don't mind overpaying for it, then this place is for you. DON'T shop here if you are looking for competitive prices and friendly, helpful salespeople. The customer service/sales experience is pretty bad ...it's a buncha salespeople who have little patience for answering questions from people who are new to home improvement. read more

Went into this store looking for a replacement faucet handle set for my bathroom sink. The sales lady I talked to was incredibly snobby. The whole time I was talking to her she was acting like it was a waste of her time. You're a plumbing parts salesperson, not a guard at Buckingham Palace! Could not believe the attitude. Eventually she condescended to ask some other guy behind a desk what model my faucet handle was (I'd brought in the whole left handle assembly for reference.) He told me that. This single word of information was useful, as I hadn't been able to figure out the model myself. So thanks for that dude. But man I can't remember the last time someone was so rude to me at a store. She dismissed all my other questions about replacements and basically sent me off. These guys cater to rich folk I guess. Definitely not proles like me. read more

This place is hands down the largest bath show room in the city. They are open till 8pm on Weds so people like us who still have to work to pay for their Gucci bathroom also have a chance to enter the temple of glitzy bathroom fixtures. I have to say the initial reception was a indeed little cold. They are apparently set up to work with designers rather than retail customers. But that is pretty common in the design district neigborhood. A lot of places are even "to the trade only". The lady at the counter told me "Here is a notepad. Write down some numbers for the stuff you like in our showroom". But once I came back I felt like I was talking to the encyclopedia for all things bathroom. "Oh, number 92. That toilet is over 29" deep so you might want to look at X, Y, or Z)." They printed me spec sheets, photos from their showroom (very useful) and were generally very knowledgeable. They only quote list prices to retail customers. Most shops sell at 25-35% below list. So you have to have your contractor/designer go to get the discounted price. So I don't have a read yet on how competitive their prices are. 4 stars for now. Will update as my project progresses. read more

This is a beautiful, expansive showroom of tubs, toilets, faucets, knobs/pulls, door handles, lighting and anything else you might want to put in a nice bathroom. If you've ever tried to order a faucet out of one of those little black and white catalogs organized by model number, you may appreciate the value that a showroom like this brings to the remodel process. I found several faucets here that I really liked, wrote out the display number, brought it to a sales person who helped me rule out items by my budget, and timeline. I ended up calling a store in the mission later to see about their prices. Some were the same, some were about 5% lower at this other store. I bought at Bath + Beyond because access to their showroom and sales staff (yes, appts work better, or just patience) is worth a lot more than I think they charge for it. And I would really hate if this place weren't available and I had to return to shopping from online thumbnails or newsprint catalogs. Also, thanks to Allen for being very helpful when the piece I wanted wasn't available in time. He spent a lot of time helping me choose something similar, calling to see if they could customize the base of the faucet, then making an exchange for me. read more

I worked with Allen Galvin who was both friendly and knowledgeable about a wide range of options for bathroom hardware. I would recommend him to anyone looking to do a major upgrade on a bathroom. A note about Bath and Beyond: it is really meant for people in the construction and interior design business. As such, it is not the place to go if you are looking to pick up something for a small do-it-yourself project. For example, they are not open on weekends, they do not post prices, and many things are not in stock and need to be ordered. read more

I will say this. I went here about a year and a half ago after my architect recommended that we go and get inspired by a few things at their showroom. Boy, was he right. I had no idea that I would fall in love with an Italian shower head- the only problem was the price tag. No joke, everything here is extremely expensive, but also great quality. Perhaps it was because I did have my architect with me, that we got full undivided attention from them. However, I really don't think that they deal really well with the general public. read more

I came in to the showroom this morning needing to purchase the last two items for our house remodel. I had asked for an appointment, but was told it wasn't necessary. When I arrived I was told to look around and once I had picked out what I wanted I could speak to a salesperson. I was looking for two very specific faucets and it could have been a ten minute sale. I was overwhelmed by walking through the showroom and if I wanted to choose them myself, I would do so online. We just visited today. Since we wanted to browse and not be bothered by people anxious to sell us, their hands-off approach was perfect. They were hard ait work, as were we. The collection is staggering. It's extensive, beautiful, with stuff you'd never see elsewhere. The pen and pad they gave us as we entered came in very handy! 8/2010 I read all of these reviews prior to my visit. I live in Wisconsin but wanted more creative and interesting selections for my house renovation than I could find in the Midwest. After 15 minutes of wandering around, I asked for a sales person who could spend an hour or so with us. Colleen Finney was gracious with my meandering around and worked hard to find out what I liked and my budget. She was great and did a lot of footwork (its a big place) to point out other possibilities. This place has an amazing selection of fixtures and lavatories (sinks) all in one place. The more I bought, the bigger the discount was. I also politely asked if I could purchase items off the floor to save even more money, which also worked. (I bought my kitchen fixtures, bathtubs, and toilets locally. The plumber will order those at their wholesale price.) B & B is a fantastic place for selection for a buyer who is comfortable dialoging with sales people. 9/2011 Some pieces arrived damaged, which was not B&B's fault. They advocated for me with the manufacturer and with Fed Ex. I was very happy with their level of service over the past year. read more

At the time of writing this review I am coming to the end of a project remodeling two bathrooms, concurrently in the same house, one of which is a steam room sauna! Needles to say, challenges do arise with such undertakings and Jim has been there at every turn - resolving problems when they come up, getting back to us in a timely fashion. The homeowner's design aesthetic, and vision is being realized. And at the same time questions about plumbing and carpentry are being answered. Incredible service and quality! I am very surprised to see some of the other yelp reviews. My experience with The Bath and Beyond was extremely positive. We had placed an order for a few items for our home in San Francisco. Unfortunately some of the items did not work and they immediately credited our account. Jim Logan could not have been more kind and professional. Their delivery man, Alvin was also extremely professional and detailed. Sam who answered the phone every time I needed to speak with Jim could not have been nicer. I normally never yelp but for this company, I had to! They were wonderful and I will refer often and will always be a loyal customer. read more

I've waited a few months since my remodel to post this review; I wanted to think about it and not be reactive. I remodeled a bathroom with products I picked from The Bath and Beyond. I do think they have some good products, but I agree with other reviewers who noted that the staff seem to want to deal with contractors or designers, and not the public. There seemed to be a hubris and ostentatiousness among the staff, and that is just ridiculous in the SF Bay Area. Anyone who walks in that door should be treated with respect, whether seemingly capable of purchasing their products, or not. My situation was that I picked some products and there was a serious problem with one of them. It turned out the bathtub we picked did not come with instructions for how to secure it to our floor--we did not get the right materials and my plumber had to do a ton of extra work to make sure installation was up to code. I did contact the manager and insist that The Bath and Beyond pay for the extra work and in fact, they did. However, since the agreement to pay, I felt poorly and rudely treated by the manager and the sales person (Sam), even though they admitted some fault in not providing the correct installation information for our bathtub (they blamed the company). I was surprised, because when a business admits fault, they usually apologize and are nice. Not the case here. Additional complaints include that our sales person (Sam) had no idea about the kind of bidet toilets were possible to buy and we were clear about what we wanted (it was not anything obscure or high-end). Second, the faucet for our bathroom is possibly the worst product I have ever seen. It's hard to move the control, it seems to always want to be hot and I find myself burning my hands all the time. It's a faucet for a vessel sink and while I have one of these in another bathroom, this one does not seem to fit in the vanity I bought from The Bath and Beyond. I think all the time about when I will need to get it replaced. I wonder if Sam even knew what he was selling me or if he cared. In subsequent phone calls, when I was calling the show room to check on deliveries Sam was so cold to me, even though my order was several thousands of dollars and must have earned him a commission. I don't understand this, because I honestly never raised my voice, never was condescending, and never complained about him directly. Maybe a 10K order is nothing to them, but it is a lot to me. It should not matter. I was treated poorly. I should also note that several months before that, I went to the store and bought a vessel sink and faucet (for a different bathroom) from Michael, who has since left the San Francisco store. That was a great experience. Michael was a down-to-earth guy and seemed happy to help us. Overall, the devil is in the details with remodeling. I made a mistake in going to The Bath and Beyond the second time, after Michael left. I assumed I would have the attentiveness needed for a relatively easy second bath remodel. Rather, I felt treated like an object and left without needed thoughtfulness about our remodeling situation. Any business that thinks they are too good for their customers has no business of mine. The local discount plumber has the same products and they treat people well. read more

As an interior designer with 25 plus years of experience, as well as having done business with other similar companies such as this one, I will tell you- STAY AWAY. Dreadful dreadful service and follow up. I spent over 65K on a project and all I got was no call backs, wrong parts, incorrect parts, and the most disorganized sense of doing business I have seen in years. Yes it is a pretty showroom with nice displays. No doubt about it. But "Beyond" is what one would describe as the service, and "Bath" is what they do to people. I strongly encourage people in the trade to not do business here. read more

This place is the absolute worst. Bath + Beyond was recommended to me by our architect -- while it was clear they were not the cheapest offering, I was told that they made up for it by a warehouse that would stock items until we needed them, flexible returns, great customer service, etc. Nothing could have been further from the truth. We spent over $30K with them on a major remodeling project over 18 months. Over this time on several occasions they claimed items were delivered that weren't (and it took several phone calls and emails and trips to get the items actually delivered). On other occasions the wrong item was delivered and needed to be returned. Throughout their customer service has been appalling, sometimes not even returning phone calls or emails. There is simply no justification for the higher prices they charge over other retailers. I'd strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere. read more

I spent three days waiting for a callback on Vola parts for a shower. The guys at Hastings, the Vola distributor in NY were extraordinarily helpful...walking me through EVERYTHING. But they only sell through distributors. Bath and Beyond is the nearest, in San Francisco. I spoke to Colleen, who told me I could only place the order to her by email. I did, and waited three days after she said she would try to find time to get a quote. Friday rolled around, and the people in New York go home at 5 their time. I found another distributor, in Irvine, who took the order on the phone, called New York, and called me back with a price within a half hour. It will be UPSed to me right away. It was several hundred dollars, but absolutely worth it. I am about to purchase more Vola fixtures for an outdoor shower and a guest bathroom. Am not even going to bother with these people, but use the place in Irvine. It's a major pain in the ass not to shop locally, but I did try. They do carry all the right stuff, but it may not be worth the runaround. read more

Definitely recommend asking for him if you plan to use Bath + Beyond to find fixtures for your home. (We spoke with 3 other employees before meeting him and they were quite rude, to the point where we almost didn't even come back here to choose our fixtures.) Bed and Beyond is a heaven to anyone looking for quality, well priced product with an excellent service. I have compared their prices with the discounted prices my plumber gets and they are at the very most 5% higher. What you get for the extra 5% is an excellent professional advice, easy shopping, and fantastic products. You need to know how to work the system so you don't spend any time waiting. I highly recommend setting in advanced an appointment with Allen. He is an interior designer who knows what would work best for you. I had 4 projects, each with different goals and budget and he spent a lot of time with me making excellent recommendations. I hate remodeling and my last project was one long stressful journey. This place was my only near pleasurable experience. When things didn't work out returns were easy. Items always arrived on time. Most items can be viewed in the large showroom. Product selection is great with both, high and low prices items. None of the Delta crap, however. My only advice is to pick up the items from their warehouse yourself and not have them shipped to you as the shipping fee is expensive. read more

I know that a lot of people have written that they had a bad experience in this store but I did not! I have looked for a store like this one in S.F. for ages. It is bathroom nirvana! Everything is immaculately laid out, organized, clean, and labeled. You can even use ScanLife on almost every product that they sell to look up later. If you are going to remodel your bathroom or update your bathroom this is the place. What amazed me besides the impeccable layout was the selection. I have been in almost every store in S.F that sells a sink or bathtub and I have never seen anywhere near the selection. I have been in other stores that sell bathroom fixtures and I could not find one sink that I wanted to buy. Not so at Bath + Beyond. I spent two blissful hours just going through the store trying to figure out what I wasn't going to buy and now I have to decide among 5 beautiful sinks. I cannot comment too much about the service yet as I have not purchased anything. However, when I walked into the store I was greeted immediately by a very friendly young man who told me that if I needed any assistance to go over to the counter where there were at least 6-8 sales people. As I was walking around and the owner greeted me and asked if I needed any assistance and it was not that plastic sort of greeting. He was very informative and helpful and very proud (and he should be) of his beautiful store. Remember, this store is not Lowes or Home Depot. It sells higher end bathroom fixtures (toilets, sinks, mirrors, bathtubs, showers, etc). I have looked for a store of this quality for years and I and my friend were simply delighted with everything in the store. If you want to know what your bathroom could look like you have to at least visit this store. I am not exaggerating when I write that this is one of the nicest if not the nicest store of any kind in S.F. I have always been disappointed by the shopping experience in this city. I wish that more stores took as much care and pride in the layout, selection and cleanliness of their stores. Who would think that it could be fun looking for a sink or a toilet? Beautiful showroom with poor customer service. My experience with Bath + Beyond matches the experience of others. Short story: called Thursday morning to request a quote, by following Wednesday, no quote. I called another fixture company Wednesday morning, got a quote same day, and placed my order that same day. Items will be available for pick-up the following day. Long story: My call was referred to a sales associate, I informed him I would like to stop in the next day/Friday to place my order, e-mailed my detailed architect list, no response as of Monday afternoon, walked in to the showroom Monday afternoon any way, sales associate who was handling my quote was not there, another sales associate asks to check whether I sent it to the correct e-mail address, showed her my smart phone message with correct e-mail address, forwarded e-mail to the present sales associate whose offer was to leave it on the absent sales associates desk ... Really? You can't help me in your associate's absence, considering it's been several days and I have no quote? Tuesday I receive a voice message saying part numbers I provided were incorrect, and I responded by saying I will check the numbers while he provides a quote for the part numbers that are correct. Wednesday noon -- still no quote, so I call another supplier, give them the same part numbers, placed the order, order will arrrive next day. Now that's customer service! read more

I have bought lots of items from this wonderful store over the last fifteen years. I have always worked with Michelle and she is absolutely super to work with. (Though I am sure that all the other sales people are really good, too). She is so knowledgeable, organised and responsive, it is a pleasure to do business with her. I have ordered custom-made parts with her and never had a problem. She goes out of her way that extra mile to be helpful (as when she found me a temporary part for my shower so it could be used, until the real item came in). Very importantly, she is as happy to assist with a small replacement part which needs to be ordered as with selling me the big expensive items, which makes me feel very comfortable with the store's after-service and encourages repeat business! read more
