Reasonably priced, good portion size. Yummy food. Worth the short trip off I-44. Even with a busy takeout crowd we got our food quickly.

I'm naming this review: "Straight out of Shanghai!" Ohhhh yeah!! You locals should feel blessed to have true authentic Chinese food in your little town. I'm actually here on business in Washington, MO and the reviews for China King near there were horrendous. So, I drove 7 miles here to see if the people were telling the truth and yes indeed they were. Man oh man, this is the real deal Holyfield here. I ordered my fav curry chicken, house rice and wonton soup and can I tell you, they did not disappoint. I'm almost afraid to admit this but their food tastes a lil bit better than the restaurant in New Orleans where I go. The flavors are popping, the heat is just right, spice wise and the temperature is spot on. I can tell it was made fresh indeed. Chile, now this is a true hidden gem in the plateaus if there ever were one. I will say this, they were skimpy in the shrimp in my rice but it' cool, I get all the shrimp I want in Louisiana. customer service is acceptable. open layout not too busy and definitely have great food. love the curry options so far and they are generous with sauces compared to most restaurants. deserves five stars for that alone. friendly on the budget even tho i see old photos of old prices compared to now about a dollar difference as everything else is but bang for your buck for sure read more

Great food, great service. We are traveling through town and looked at Yelp for Chinese Food and this place was very near our hotel. Had hot and sour soup....delicious and egg foo yung and General's chicken. We ate all we could. We will have Chinese breakfast.. very large servings great value read more

I always order the same food from this Chinese restaurant and they were always decent. One time we tried to order mongolian beef full order and it was full of onions totally no beef in there just a couple of tiny pieces. My aunt called them and the lady who answered was very unprofessional and just said she knew how much beef she put in there. Didn't wana refund or replace. Very bad customer service!!! Experience would be much better for dining in if forks were better quality--eating out of take-out containers when dining in seems to be a thing we're willing to accept these days, but the forks and spoons need to at least be up to the task. Best Chinese food in Franklin County! We love everything they have made for us. My husband sticks to a few favorites but I am more adventurous and eaten things from all over the menu, all were delicious. They will customize your order and get it right every time. When they recently changed their dumplings and everyone I know complained to me about now awful the new ones were I let New China know. They promised me they would go back to the originals and they did. Best dumplings I have ever eaten, and that includes restaurants all over the St Louis area!! Quick, easy no fuss ordering over the phone. Didn't have to pay till I picked it up. Crazy good yellow curry. First place I ever had an overstuffed, tasty, NON-greasy egg roll. A little weirded out that the veggie fried rice was yellow, but the BIG chunks of veggies made up for it. . Also, it didn't taste yellow. As per usual with Chinese Take out, way too much food and a few fortune cookies thrown in. But unlike any other Chinese take out, there was no soy, sweet n sour, or hot mustard packs in my bag nor plastic ware. I guess you have to ask for that stuff? read more

Hungry, reviews looked good. No table service, only ordering at the counter. All servings either on styrofoam plates or in plastic takeout containers with plastic utensils. Mongolian beef was tasty with onion and beef sauce was good. Asked for no green peppers which may have limited the ingredients to just onions and beef and a few green onion tops. Wonton soup very tasty broth but undercooked wontons. Hot and sour soup a bit on the sour side not to my wife's liking. read more

We happened to be in this town on the way back home for dinner. This restaurant is highly rated (5 stars as of now) but since it's in a small town, we thought it's another generic Chinese restaurant so our expectations weren't high. Boy we were wrong. Great moo goo gai pan. I also recommend the boneless BBQ ribs, which is really sliced roasted pork cut into pieces. If you like Chinese BBQ, you will like this appetizer, which comes in a generous portion- enough for an entree. The fried rice is also excellent. read more

This has quickly became me and my wife's favorite place to order out from on a Friday night. Everything I've ordered has been great! My personal favorite is the Mongolian Beef. The wife loves the Vegetarian Fried Rice. Don't forget the Crab Rangoon's! I've never dined in, so I can't comment on the service. read more

This is a pretty decent place. The building was clean, the service was fast and proficient, and they have good specials. Highly recommend the lunch special they have. Their crab rangoons are really good, the fried rice was awesome, and I was surprised to see something on the menu that was new to me! Strawberry chicken. My boyfriend just moved out to St. Clair from South County. Back in South County there was A LOT more of a selection. I found this place on Yelp & thought why not try it since it's right around the corner (literally). I am so glad I did because the food is AMAZING! I'm super picky about egg drop soup & this is the best I've found from any Chinese food place I've ever eaten at & you get a good amount too. I'll probably be a frequent customer. I'm a sucker for some yummy shrimp fried rice(no onion). Also I'm really surprised there aren't more great reviews about this place, but maybe Yelp isn't so popular out here? I've tried many Chinese places from Union, Washington, Sullivan etc... But this is best one, hands down. The food comes straight from the kitchen, no leftover rice or appetizers. Everything is made the moment you place your order. Food might take 15-20 mins to get ready. Sometimes they're really busy on Fridays, don't be surprise if there's a long line Friday evening. I suggest calling in an hour before and place your order. You must try their Egg Foo Young. It's to die for. read more

Nice Chinese food restaurant. Walking in ,the lobby is clean and well organized. The lady at the register is very friendly. I only had one negative experience with her. I told her what I wanted to order and for what i received versus what I paid, its clear I got ripped off. Moral is, that you must pay attention and ask questions. I think I ordered 3 lunch specials (4.50 a piece) 4 sodas and a child's plate of chicken fried rice. For all that I was charged 25 bucks. Food is good and hot when it is received. Bathroom could be updated, but you can tell it's clean. There is soap and towels available. All in all, a very pleasant experience. I will go back armed with more knowledge. If there is a better Chinese restaurant in St. Clair I wouldn't know where it is. Edit: Apparently I was not overcharged. I apologize to those whom I may have offended. We've gone to this restaurant for two years. They never get the order right, the serving size is much too small for their price. Today they got my order wrong and when I called to complain. I didn't want a refund, I wasn't going to take my food back. I just wanted him to know that they had made it incorrectly again. The young man that answered the phone decided that he needed to argue with me. So I hung up. He then proceeded to call me three times until I finally had to tell him to stop calling the last 2 times. I love this restaurant and the people running it. I've grown up eating here. From being a kid and having my parents take me after soccer practice, to being a teenager and walking through town with friends to eat here. We never had much money, but they were always really sweet and treated us with the same respect as the adults in the store. I've moved all over the country, had my own kids and come home. Now sitting here sick on the couch I knew just who to call. New China and their wonton soup for me with some fried rice and chicken for the kids. Love, love, love this store!
