Based on our recent visit, we will not be returning again. One full hour to get our meals. 3 other parties in the restaurant during this whole time, totally 6 adults, 1 child, 1 baby. We were a party of 3 adults. Once the food got to us, it was wrong. And to top it off, the food was mediocre at best. This place used to be the best Chinese restaurant in Leavenworth. Honestly, I was not overly impressed. I am a huge lover of Chinese food and eat it every chance I get. I was super excited to try this place because it was one of the last few places in Leavenworth I haven't tried. I got the orange chicken and was greeted with soggy breading and a borderline watery sauce. It was okay, did not seem to have a ton of flavor and was on the sweeter side. I also got the chicken fried rice, which also seemed to lack flavor. It was interesting to see no vegetables in it, as other places I have gotten fried rice have some sort of vegetable in it but definitely no shame in not adding them!!! My mother got the combo pan fried noodles and said it lacked flavor and had a bleach-y/chemical taste. I personally did not taste that but do agree it lacks in flavor. There is also a very little amount of noodles, which threw us off. We had also gotten the crab rangoons and steamed dumplings. The crab rangoons are decent! The steam dumplings are alright, the pork inside was darker than I expected compared to other dumplings I have had but they still seemed okay! I don't think I will return unfortunately, but I have no harsh feelings for the restaurant! The person I spoke to when I went in to pickup my food was very kind! The place also seemed very clean inside and the music was at the perfect noise level, not too loud yet not too quiet. The lighting makes the dining area very pleasant and comforting. read more

Honestly, even if you're craving Chinese and can't seem to find decent place in Leavenworth or the surrounding area, don't settle for the mediocre that is New China Inn. We were craving Chinese so badly that we went with what appeared to be the best if the few options in this area. I would've preferred not having Chinese and going somewhere else. I hadn't had orange chicken in a while, so I decided to get that. What I got instead was chicken drenched in some weak sauce that lacked any flavor and was clearly sitting in said sauce for hours. It wasn't anywhere near decent. The rice and crab rangoon were fine, but the main dish was lacking both in quality and quantity. My husband got the spicy chicken, which was admittedly better and more flavorful than mine, but his portion size was also lacking. There's got to be something better... read more

Decent Chinese. This was my first time having Chinese since being in the area. May update my review once I've tried all the others. Really enjoyed the brown sauce on the chicken and broccoli. The one thing I wish was different was fried rice had vegetables. The Fried Rice was only rice and soy sauce or some other brown sauce. The lo mein had a good enough taste. Noodles were a lot chewy but still a decent flavor. My meals came with an egg roll. I ate both of mine that came with each meal. Smh...greedy for no reason. I live in Fort Leavenworth so this most likely won't be my go to spot because there are about two Chinese restaurants closer. But I definitely see how this can be a neighborhood Go-To spot. read more

My husband ordered two dishes tonight. One general Tso's and on beef lo mein. Let me tell you how incredibly disappointing this was! First off the food took over 30 minute! You would think in that amount of time they would be able to produce some flavor, but no. My meal (general Tso's) was a horrendous excuse for a $10.95 "meal" roughly 8 pieces of chicken that tasted like nothing but a bit of soy sauce, no ginger, no red pepper just soy! My advice, save your money and go to China King! read more

The food here was hit and miss. We ordered two entrees, and one was solid (spicy chicken) and the other was so so (orange chicken). The portion sizes were smaller than you might expect but are still sufficient for a meal. My biggest complaint about the orange chicken was that the texture was subpar due to having been sitting in a sauce all day. The spicy chicken didn't suffer from the same problem because it was not fried. The fried rice that came with the entrees was not really fried rice, and it had no flavor. read more

Chinese and dinner, two words that go well together, as long as it is good Chinese and then it is a good dinner. It has been some time, thanks COVID, since we have gone to this specific location and it is deserving of a proper review. Enter New China Inn and you won't be disappointed. The location is clean, spacious, and has seating for parties of two or twenty with both booths and tables available. Serving staff were polite and attentive and the menu was full of choices. I will add a note that not unlike a lot of dine-in locations these days, the food comes out as prepared and as such there may be a delay between yours arriving and the others in the party. Simple solution to this is to ask in advance that all the food be presented at the same time. I digress, the portions were bountiful and well plated and were honestly quite tasty from beginning to end. Most menu items appear to be designed for sharing so feel free to try multiple menu items if dining with close friends. All in all this was a good meal at a more than fair price in a clean dining environment. read more

I am so disappointed. I made a delivery order tonight and it did not even contain everything I had ordered but we didn't even bother to call to get those items because the food was so foul. I got shrimp with lobster sauce. It was tasteless, the portion was small and it contained only two shrimp. Nobody wanted to eat the egg rolls because they had a dead fish taste. The orange chicken only seemed to contain some chewy pieces of breading, no chicken. The wonton soup was $2 but only contained about 4oz (1/2 cup of soup). I find this little driven by place is best for takeout or delivery. Their inside is a bit dated and only a couple servers on hand. The food is, however, very good and I have not been disappointed in the service. This establishment has been here under the same family since before I was born. My mother, aunt and uncle worked here when they were high schoolers! It's not as popular as it used to be in terms of the sit down restaurant, but we are always ordering when we're having a family movie night or we aren't wanting to leave the house. Wow. Was not expecting this in this little town. We wanted some Chinese and it was pretty good. The service is young or busy but very responsive. The crab dragoons are pretty good and made fresh. The sauce is a little watered down but impressive. The main courses were good. The sizzling beef and scallops were awesome. The flavors blended well with the rice and veggies. This was my first visit to New China Inn. All in all, an adequate chinese-american restaurant in a town that doesn't have much to offer in this arena. From the outside, this place looks like a 1980's one-story office building, that would probably have a dentist's office in it. Inside, it is nicely furnished and feels nice to be in. It was very quite tonight (Wednesday, around 6pm) with one couple eating in and 3 or 4 of us 'to-go' people. The food was fine, but nothing to write home about. We had Beef and Broccoli, Chicken Fried Rice, Empress Chicken (spicy sweet and sour), fried wontons and hunan egg rolls. Service was quick - 9 minutes from payment to bags in hand - and the wait staff was cordial. Like I said, nothing to write home about and nothing to go out of your way for. But, when you are in Leavenworth and hankering for chinese this place is decent. Or you could go to the buffet place (haven't been), or the Price Chopper chinese place (have been - good enough for post-grocery shopping grub). read more

I frickin' love this place! I have been coming here for years with my family since my brother recommended this place. I often get the same thing every time but I occasionally change it up. Chicken Lo Mein: Noodles had nice flavor but the chicken was chewy. Was my first time ordering so MAY try it again.

I have tried this place several times and this will be the last. I waited over an hour for delivery only to get the wrong food. When I called they blamed the driver and sent the correct order. I could have let it slide with that but the shrimp fried rice had about 3 shrimp in it and tasted like they just dumped soy sauce on rice and called it a day. The hot and sour soup was so salty it was inedible. Terrible Chinese food and a terrible experience. read more

I have been going to New China forever, and for the past 5-6 yrs it has really been going downhill. I ordered carry-out yesterday, and I have to say, they have reached a new low. First, their prices are higher than most Chinese places for lunch, $7.25, and they charge extra if you want hot and sour soup instead of egg drop, how cheap is that? The amount of soup that they give you, is some where between 1/4 to 1/2 cup, a tiny portion, and is not very good, tasted like vinegar broth. The crab rangoon was very greasy and tasted like it had been sitting for some time. Lo Mein was pretty good, you can usually count on it to be OK, that's why I order it. There other lunch items are not very good, Egg Foo Young very greasy, and the portions are pretty small. There are a couple other options for Chinese in Leavenworth, I recommend you try those. read more
