New China is a chain, I think. My first experience was the one in South Tampa on Dale Mabry. As a New Englander, of course I gravitated to up north style carry out. I really liked the South Tampa New China. The experience varies though based on location. This was my first time checking this location out. Everything was just okay. And I say just okay regarding the food, the service, the value... Everything. Besides being just average, there were a bunch of clothes and miscellaneous "stuff" in the dining area. Granted, these days a lot of restaurants cater to food delivery apps. We all know this. In my humble opinion, it would be nice to have that less intrusive on the non gig customers' experience. We tried to empty the container out to see if we were just missing the noodles, but there's absolutely none. Almost worst Chinese food we have ever had. Tasteless and not exciting. We ordered 4 things and 3 were a disappointment. The spring rolls were ok but not as good as we are used to. Customer service was good, the guy was nice, but that's the only good thing I can say. They need a taste test and some improvement on the recipes. I was literally shocked at how tasteless the food was. The chop suey was full of onions and had a lot of celery, no other good veggies, adding more substance would be nice. The crab Rangoons were more dough than filling (instead of 10 small ones w mostly dough like they give here, I like when I'm served 5-6 larger ones w less dough in each and more filling). I had been ordering here since August or September. The food was always pretty good; I have a hard time finding decent Chinese in comparison to what I'm accustomed to from home. (The General Tso chicken is the only thing I tried that was not at least okay.) A month or so ago, the restaurant stopped answering my calls. I thought the place had closed down, but then remembered when I realized the new cashier screens calls (while placing my last order). It's 2019. FL is filled with transients. My parents used a debit card here and were charged a $7 tip that they didn't write in. The cashier decided she could give a tip to herself. The management was notified and they did nothing to rectify the situation. That's called theft and it's wrong. Unfortunately I didn't find it here. Since I reside in a,community right behind the shopping center it was convenient to order from New China. My first impression was inside and out appears to be unclean. My first order of Szechuan shrimp dinner was very disappointing. Five shrimp in a mass of broccoli and vegetables. The fried rice has an extremely greasy taste to it as I have never experienced. The next time my bourbon chicken dinner was actually barbequed chicken. Again the fried rice had an unpleasant greasy taste. I will go the extra distance next time and wouldn't recommend. read more

Some coworkers and I placed an order for pickup yesterday. The lady that took the order was very rude. She gave my supervisor a very hard time in placing the order. She waited on hold for 7 minutes to speak to this rude employee. The prices online differed from the menu we had and the prices at the restaurant were different still. We finally was able to place the order. We went to pick it up. What a fiasco. The rude lady was getting the order ready and actually opened the containers. What was inside was written on the top. No need to open. Then my supervisor asked if two of the orders could be added up together as one employee gave her the correct amount of cash. The lady replied you guys are really making this hard. Honestly haven't been able to taste the food but when I did call to place an order I was on hold for about three minutes which is longer than usual but I honestly didn't mind. However, when the lady answered the phone I could hear her angrily talking about customers before she said "hello", not sure if it was about me or somebody else so again I didn't really mind it. I finally found a Chinese restaurant take out that I liked. Then I call today starting at 245 for lunch, so i can order before 3 and it's busy until 310. The girl who answered says I'm "wayy too late" for lunch special. Mind you I order out a lot and from here often so this has nothing to do with prices . I ordered anyway but made them combo platters. I paid and ended call. I thought about it and couldn't understand how it was my problem their phone line was busy for over 20 minutes. I called back to speak to a manager/owner. She said neither were there...could she help me. I told her, she says well i had other customers on the line. She then says I called at 315. No. I didn't but it doesn't matter either way.
