Top China is the kind of place that looks like you're about to either get incredible takeout or accidentally discover evidence in a true crime documentary. You walk in and immediately think: "Am I even allowed to be in here?" The dining room is barricaded off... yet somehow each time I some patron or another over there. I don't know what they're scaling to get over that side, but it's happening, even though no dining will occur. The restrooms are reportedly inaccessible due to a parking lot construction issue affecting the pipes - which makes me wonder what the employees do when nature calls, but I'm not ready to get that deep question-wise. It's been months, though, since this issue began... so I constantly wonder if I will ever bear witness to the sight of whatever may be in the restrooms. The lighting says "B-horror chic." The interior feels one strong wind away from becoming a liminal-space meme. If A24 opened a Chinese takeout restaurant, this would be it. And yet... The people behind the counter are always genuinely nice. The prices are shockingly fair. The portions are solid. And the food? Honestly delicious. Somehow the aesthetic almost makes the food better. It has the energy of a place that has survived recessions, hurricanes, and possibly a haunting... purely on the strength of its lo mein. I especially appreciate that every visit feels mildly suspenseful. You pull into the parking lot wondering if the place is still open, walk through the door seriously questioning your life choices, and leave 15 minutes later carrying enough excellent takeout for two meals for around $20. You then also enjoy that food immensely and I've never once felt gross start eating it. Also, despite the deeply unsettling vibe, I've never once gotten the impression through furtive attempts at glancing back that way that the kitchen itself is dirty. Weirdly enough, the food consistently tastes fresher and more cared-for than places that spent $200,000 on Edison bulbs and reclaimed wood. Top China is so very sketchy. Top China is delicious. Don't order from this place. We ordered from here and EVERYONE got sick. We all came down with food poisoning and we went to the place and it looked dirty. When we told the people there they said, "Well, maybe they were already sick, don't blame us." Everyone was fine till we ate from this place. And when I said I was going to social media only then did they second guess it and then offer money back...but it wasn't about money! It was about doing the right thing. STAY AWAY AND STAY HEALTHY! Nasty!!! I've had 100% better serving Chinese food from St Augustine and Fleming Island. I have been spoiled. This place is not good at all. The worse spent $11.10 for food that I have used this far. The other reviews were so promising of which wanted me to try this spot and I really, really wished I hadn't. I ordered Mongolian Beef with fried rice instead of white rice. The beef had a fishy taste and threw it all in the trash. All $11.10 of it. The little decor on the walls are cute but that's it. The food is not delicious nor will I recommend this place to a friend. I just hoped there were better reviews on this place. I know my fellow yelpers don't enjoy disgusting food bit unfortunately there are a few that do and I am NOT one of them. I should have not given them the benefit of the doubt. This place is dirty. Your arms stick to the counters and tables, your legs stick to the benches. Tables were not clean with debris from previous customers. Pictures on the wall have about an inch of dust on them. No air conditioning in the lobby either so prepare to sweat. The fans haven't been cleaned in months. The wallpaper on the walls is peeling off and looks horrendous. There's a busted down fish tank which has been there for so long they have kids drawings on it. About the only clean thing were the front windows. You have to ask yourself if the customer facing area was this dirty, what does the back look like?! There was a little boy about 4 years old running amok in the kitchen. My order with tax should have been $10.13 however charged me $10.20. It's a few pennies but shows dishonesty. When asked about it no offer to give me the 7¢ just an eye roll. Rice was alright. The beef and vegetables were rubbery. I ended up not eating most of it. If you want to see a location that should be on restaurant 911 this is the place to go. If you however like me prefer not to get food poisoning avoid this place like the plague. read more

This is my favorite place for getting take out! The food is better than many other Chinese Restaurants that I have tried. I love the roast pork egg rolls. Ordered 4 of them today and they were delivered screaming hot. Had to wait about 10 minutes before I could eat one. The flavor of these is fantastic. I also ordered a pint of the chicken with snow peas. This might become my favorite dish. Chicken is very tender and the snow peas were plentiful and cooked perfectly. Also tried their General Tso's chicken. It was the best I've had anywhere. read more

I finally ordered from this place and it's the worst I have ever had. The ribs we're rubbery and hard and the fried rice has the worst flavor I ever had. The chicken dish was terrible too. One of the great things about NPR is the variety of places that deliver. Top China offers freshly made "Florida style" Chinese at a reasonable price. It's extremely difficult to find the Chinese cuisine they have up North but all things considered, Top China delivers quality in a timely manner and they're pretty consistent with what they offer. A good bet for a night in. read more

I will say that all the years that I have ordered from here I have never received anything that was ill prepared or tasted bad. Delivery was always hit and miss. Many times there was no ticket with the order. The last order I received had a chunk of heavy glass in the shrimp with black bean sauce. horrible in every way!!! First it took 19 min. to deliver to us and we are 7-10 min away!! We open our food and I cut my left thumb peeling back the corner of the tin tray. I call to let them know ...nothing more!!...And there is no apology, no are you ok..NOTHING!!! Then we get to eating...half my chicken is overdone and half is really light, the crab Rangoon is folded in the way where you get the least amount of filling in them and it did not taste very good!! They were greasy and bland!!! The eggrolls were so skinny and soaked/dripping in grease, mushy, & bland as well. Then a roach comes crawling out of my friends rice container!!!!!!!!!!!! We bagged up everything and said we will sit the food outside and your delivery driver can come get it..we want a refund!!! He said THE deliver DRIVER was on the way. A few min. later the doorbell rings!!!! I answer and there are 3 men standing on my porch!!!! They came to call me a liar, harass me, and intimidate me!! I am home alone and I have bad anxiety and this threw me right in a panic attack. They did not care and treated me as if I was lower than garbage!!! I WAS HUNGRY!! I WANTED THAT FOOD!! I love this place!! Even if they don't have as many goodies with their lunch specials, they are the most helpful and have the best customer service of all the chinese joints around!! Let me start by saying. Your better off eating frozen Chinese food from the grocery store. We ordered beef pepper steak, curry chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce, shrimp chow mien, general tso's chicken and fried dumplings. All meals were lunch specials. Lunch special pricing is $4.70 includes soup, or egg roll or can soda. Each entree was a mish mash of Chinese cooking to the point we did not recognize the shrimp chow mien. We called the restaurant to be told that the shrimp chow mien is cabbage based. The only pack of fried wonton strips we received belonged to the shrimp chow mien. Let me end this review by saying at least something positive about Top China there delivery charge is only $1.00 to receive bad food. read more

Literally some of the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I got the general Tao chicken and it tasted like it was fried a week ago and had very little chicken inside the breeding. Very tender chicken/beef, obviously fresh. Flavors are appropriate, and tasty. I have never had meat with that level of tenderness. While this is not Yummy House in Tampa, this is clearly a hidden gem of NPR. Gross!!!! Chicken fried rice was basically white rice barely any chicken no flavor. Egg rolls were worst then the rice cabbage and and little red specs of something only ingredient super greasy. I mean I would not eat here again if they paid me I promise you. I'd rather eat mcdonalds and be sick all night then eat here again. And they told me 10 min for pick up I waited 15 and before getting there and still had to wait there for 20 min. We're busy sorry she says to me. No problem then say 40 min. Not ten. Just horrible. I never write reviews but finally found a good Chinesse place. Moved to Pasco from Philly 6 months ago. My P's said there was no Chinesse here like up North. Tried a few, not impressed. A NYer from my gym recommended this place. Got it for me & the P's Xmas eve and was very happy with the Gen. Tso's combo. Was reasonably priced compared to up North where they almost double the $6 lunch combo for dinner. 4 stars for Florida. read more
