The worst shrimp fried rice I've ever had. I'm praying I do not get sick. The food was cold. It only had a few bean sprouts and shrimp. It did not have carrots, peas or green onions at all. I had a rarely large order. They do not provide plates or cutlery. The store front is not sanitary. Old restaurant with dirty and broken windows with pan handlers hanging out in front. The parking lot is behind the restaurant without a paved entrance. You can't park on Woodward, so you risk tearing up your car driving through the alley and significantly deep potholes holes to park and pick up your order. It's in the new center area, so I was really DISAPPOINTED. I stopped eating Chinese food a long time ago because of the lack of service and connections to the communities they serve. Very disappointing food. We ordered the Almond Chicken, the pu pu platter, the Lo Mein beef and paid $50+ for it; completely not worth it! All of the meat in the Lo Mein, and the pu pu platter was jerky, WAY overcooked, possibly even microwaved. The almond chicken was chewy, like cardboard, the rice was rubbery and days old, with the vegetable fried rice lacking in flavor and actual vegetables; what was in it was the kind of peas & carrots you buy frozen for soup and a few sprouts. I usually buy enough to last and eat the leftovers for dinner the next day but this sh*t was TOSSED! (And I was pretty upset to have to cook the next day! ) I am definitely never ordering from here again, and will stick with my usual, Dynasty around the corner. I've been eating here since this place opened. their kitchen is open so you can see how clean they are. the menu is typical new york style chinese fare; with a few mandarine and thai specialties sprinkled in. I enjoy their chinese vegetable soup along with an eggroll for lunch. it's only $3.50 plus you can walk up get it and be out of there in 3 minutes. they have a good version of almond boneless chicken which has the chicken deep fried on a bed of freshly stirfried crispy veggies and rice of your choice. the gravy is on the side. their menu is on the internet listed by their phone number which makes it easy to find when you're in a hurry to order and pick up. they're friendly and the place is convenient. you can call in your order and usually pick it up in no more than 15 minutes even in the height of the lunch rush hour. their two or three item specials from the steam table are reasonable and always changing. Very Americanized but some of the better Chinese food I've had in MoTown so far. I would definitely try some other dishes if I'm in the neighborhood. The food here is awesome! It's so easy to order for pick-up online (super affordable) and it's ready in about ten-fifteen minutes (basically, we order, wait about 7 minutes, then make the five-minute drive and it's ready to pick up). You can see the whole kitchen behind the counter, and it's always very clean. I've never been in the dining area, as our Chinese food cravings happen in the evening, but it looks very quaint and is always clean. Food is delicious here, as I said already: the egg/spring rolls are great (you know, usually these things are gross or bland or greasy? Not here!), the soups are mind-blowing and flavorful, the dumplings are perfect, and the meats are always cooked thoroughly. The tastiness and authenticity of the food here has certainly earned them the "top 100 Chinese restaurants," as you can see advertised when you walk into the place. Definitely recommend this place to anyone on a budget who doesn't feel like cooking. Don't be afraid....seriously The building is frightening for out of towners. The small shop that sits in front of the kitchen that serves as the restaurant/take out counter/bus stop is disheveled, cracked, and adorned with generic Chinese food pictures, giant posters of Chinese temples, and banners proclaiming New China One as one of the top 100 Chinese takeout restaurants in the US. I think the banners are legit. Its no frills, very New York style Chinese takeout. The woman behind the counter is always smiling, and she mans the kitchen along with 1-2 other guys. Its always fast, always made to order. HUGE portions, and EXCELLENT pricing. It may look a little scary at first, but this place constantly has 2-3 parties inside waiting for their orders to finish. I had to call back several times to understand that our orders were the wrong sizes which was part of the overpriced total. This is the first time I had Chinese food delivered to work from China One. The price was only 4.95 for the lunch special and for the price, quality of food, and fast service it deserves a five star. I ordered the shrimp with bean sprouts and it comes with fried rice and hot and sour soup. The soup was spicy but not overwhelming. It had tofu and green onions in it which gave it a nice texture.
