Excellent Thai restaurant with delicious pad Thai and udon and also very cool movie poster decorations on the wall in Thai. Prompt service although you have to go up to the counter to collect your food. Met up with author and filmmaker Curtis Chin, who wrote a memoir entitled "Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant" which is in its third printing and reviewed favorably by the likes of The NY Times. Highly recommended!

I had lunch from here today. The food was hot. However, the rice was mushy and I ordered shrimp and it seemed like it was more pineapples than anything in the dish. I usually get good food from here so maybe it was an off day.

These were supposed to be chicken. Womp.

I hate leaving 1 star reviews, but I hate receiving 1 star service and food more. Sala Thai may be the last good Thai standing near downtown because this is not the Go Sy Thai I remember. Firstly, never order Grubhub from here - my first order was marked as delivered and it definitely wasn't. I didn't get a call or text or anything. Just 'delivered' and no food. So, I had Grubhub do a re-delivery. Takes over an hour. The driver arrived missing one of the entrees and all they could do was refund me. So, since this was an order for a group, I gave up my lunch. I was able to have a couple of spring rolls and tasted the hot and sour soup enough to know it was gross. Bummer. The Spring rolls should have had chicken and were $8.50 instead of $4.50 for the veggie ones, but I received veggie ones. Boo. They tasted ok dunked in plum sauce, but maybe that's because I had already been waiting an hour and a half to eat. The soup was basically inedible- it had the texture of lumpy gravy. No flavor, no bueno, lots of cornstarch. We paid $70 + tip for 3 curries, a soup and 2 spring rolls via Grubhub. My friend said the curry was good, but I have my doubts. Never again for me. Sad.

Ordered two meals, drunken noodles and the egg noodles with fried tofu and veggies on both, hot level was perfect. They are so delicious and compliment each other :) Look forward to leftovers for another couple of days!

I was in Midtown late and wanted a quick casual dinner before heading home. Go! Sy Thai seemed to fit the bill. I ordered the fried rice and the food came out within a couple of minutes. Quick and easy. Kow Pad Fried Rice, Vegetarian ($14) - The fried rice has a good wok hei smokiness, with a nice, but somewhat one-note flavor from the soy sauce. The rice is appropriately cooked. It's a bit on the moist side rather than the dried fried side, but that could be because it was steaming in the box for a bit of time. Despite this, each grain of rice is distinct and not stuck together- a good hallmark for fried rice. It's not oily tasting at all. The rice is mixed with the classic fried rice veggies, including green onions, sliced onions, peas, and diced carrots. Thin shreds of scrambled eggs are mixed in to give a protein boost. The portion size is pretty big - probably at least 1.5 pounds. This is actually enough to last several meals, purely because of how extremely salty the fried rice is and how much water you have to drink to temper down the burning in your mouth. This is pretty expensive for a mediocre fried rice. (3/5) I can't really say that I would ever visit again, but I guess it's pretty convenient for a quick and filling meal.

Pad See Ew - some of the best I've had!

First time trying Go! Sy Thai and ordered just Pad See Ew medium with chicken...and I have to say it's one of the best Pad See Ew dishes I've had (and I've had it at A LOT of places). Pleasantly spicy, not overwhelming and very tasty. Ordered over the phone for carryout which was quick and easy - only part that was a bit frustrating is that my boyfriend picked up my order and they had extreme trouble finding my order (couldn't find my name/entree/anything). Would love an online order option so this wouldn't even be problematic in the future!

Their sign is easy to see as you drive by, but my friend did give me a heads up that their door was not obvious. You need to walk through a fence and then open a non deacript door. The artwork outside is awesome! When we walked in we received a friendly greeting and were quickly shown to our seats. We had made a reservation ahead of time and there was no delay to seat us upon our arrival. Our server was friendly and took our drink orders right away. I appreciated that they had multiple non alcoholic drinks and at a fair price. I started with the Thai Iced tea which was delicious, but I would have loved a glass 2x the size! We ordered multiple dishes to share amongst us. I did ask the server how many dishes they recommended that we order as I wasn't sure of the size. The items are brought out as they are made, so we had food being dropped off to is at random intervals. The only slight issue we experienced was when someone else tried to bring a plate of squid to our table. We let them know that we had not ordered it. They then went and talked to our server, who brought the squid back to our table. We also let them know that we had not ordered that dish. Our server did bring back our order slip and looked it over, and I believe at that point they realized that we really had not ordered that dish and just weren't rejecting it. I am not sure if it had been written wrong, communicated to the kitchen wrong, or what but we did have to state multiple times that we had not ordered it. The rest of our dishes arrived correctly. The crispy chive cakes were great, and the sticky spare ribs were AMAZING. The caramel glaze on the outside of the ribs was so good, and they were tender as well. The outside was super crispy. I would absolutely ordered these again. I would say that both of those dishes were only for 2 people. The sticky rice and jasmine rice were as to be expected, and I personally felt that the papaya salad was not as good as others I have had. The chilli noodles had an amazing broth and I would also recommend. Overall, I did enjoy our dinner but I am not sure that I would go out of my way to return. I am rounding up to 4 stars based on the sticly ribs alone, otherwise a 3.5 would be more fair. I have been hearing about Takoi for years, so maybe my epxections were too high but I was expecting a bit more.

To start, we got moo krob (deep fried pork belly) which is the Thai version of Chinese siu yook. I have to say, I like siu yook so much more - it's a lot more flavorful having been marinated with five spice and served with delicious sweet hoisin sauce for dipping. The pork here was bland and the sauce (fish sauce based) was pretty one note. For my entree, I got rad na (rice noodles with gravy, Chinese broccoli, carrots, and choice of meat - I got pork) which was one of the best I've ever had! They used fresh rice noodles and sautéed it properly to give it the "wok hei" (wok-seared flavor). The gravy was deep and flavorful and the portion size was very good. If everything else was as good as my entree, I'd give this restaurant 5 stars. Unfortunately, my mom's Kao mun gai (steamed chicken with rice and "special sauce") was awful. She asked if the dish had any spice because she can't do spicy, and the server said no, so she decided she'd try it. The chicken was way overcooked and dry, with no flavor at all. The sauce, the only thing providing flavor and moisture, was spicy so that she couldn't eat it. We asked if there was any sauce she could get instead that wasn't spicy, and they said no, but they can give us a bottle of soy sauce. So my mom used some of that, and also took some of my rad na gravy. But because the chicken was so dry and bland, it was beyond saving. My dad got the Thai basil fried rice, mild spice. It was definitely hotter than other Thai restaurants' mild, and my dad said the spice overwhelmed the other flavors. I tried some of it and it was not bad, but nothing remarkable. They told us that traditionally, it's served with the rice on the side, which was strange to me because then it's not fried rice - it's sautéed meat and veggies with rice on the side. I am curious about how some of the other dishes taste here, but it's a shame that 3/4 of the things we ordered were mediocre to downright bad. While I enjoyed my entree, I felt bad my parents didn't enjoy their food.

Thai-Osha -- Where Laughter, Love, and Crab Rangoons Fill Your Soul…read more There are some places that feed more than just your appetite -- they feed your spirit. And Thai-Osha is one of those rare gems. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I wasn't just walking into another Thai restaurant. I was walking into someone's heart and soul. Someone's home. The space is cozy, welcoming, decorated in beautiful Thai decor, and intimate -- like a little sanctuary where you immediately feel at ease and ready for home cooking. But the real magic? That comes from the owner. Let me tell you about him. He greeted me like an old friend -- with the kind of warmth and joy that you can't fake. So Funny, charming, down-to-earth, and so full of light... he has this way of making you feel like you've known him forever. It's like you're not just a customer -- you're family. The kind of energy he brings is rare. You can feel it in the way he laughs, the way he connects, the way he sees people. His spirit is so vibrant and kind, it honestly feels contagious. I left with a full stomach and full heart and a smile I couldn't wipe off my face. That's the kind of business you want to support -- one that feels built on love. The service? Fast. Friendly. The whole staff radiates the same positive energy as the owner -- everyone just seems genuinely happy to be there, and that joy spills over to the customers. You don't feel like you're just being served -- you feel like you're being welcomed. And don't even get me started on the food. Every dish was an experience. The flavors? Out of this world. Fresh, authentic, deeply comforting -- the kind of food that takes you places and lingers in your memory. The crab rangoons? I'm still dreaming about them. I could have ate them all day. Home Made, Creamy, perfectly made -- I nearly cried. Everything we ordered was beyond amazing, and I have no doubt that anything you choose from that menu will blow you away. But honestly? Even if you didn't come for the food (though you absolutely should), come to meet and talk to him. Come meet the kind, hilarious, big-hearted owner who reminds you that people like him still exist in the world -- people who lead with love, who make strangers feel like friends, and who carry a light that lifts others just by being near them. In a world that feels fast, disconnected, and overstimulated -- Thai-Osha is a breath of fresh air. It's cozy. It's sincere. It's the kind of place you want to keep coming back to. You're truly missing out on something special -- the kind of special that fills both your stomach and your soul. Let's keep celebrating places like this -- the ones that remind us what kindness tastes like.

The chef came out, seated me and asked for my order. Initially I wanted the Kai Yang (BBQ Chicken) for $14 at lunchtime, but the chef DISCOURAGED me saying that it takes a long time to slow cook this dish. Fine. I went with my 2nd choice, F2 - Kow Pad Kra Praow with chicken ($13 @ lunch). This is a FRIED RICE dish. The dining area ambiance is rather spartan, and the (C)RAP MUSIC being played did not contribute to the Thai dining experience at all. My order came back QUICK and HOT. My initial reaction was that it just looked like a BIG PLATE of fried rice. Oh well, I tucked in, and the flavor was OK. A FEW pieces of white meat chicken, peppers and carrot slices were the only identifiable items in this BIG PLATE of fried rice. It was EDIBLE and FILLING, but that was all. NOTHING SPECIAL and certainly not the WOW factor I had expected from the glowing reviews. Total was $13.73 after tax.
