Under new ownership since 2020 and they started stocking a lot of awesome stuff. I'm from the east coast originally so it was really cool to see them stock super strikes, ava jigs, charlie graves tins, etc. They obviously have all the classic west coast lures too: battlestar, LC 110 Flash Minnow, gulp sand worms. Prices vary but are mostly what you'd expect to see. It's right near Pacifica Pier / Pacifica Beach so you can try your new gear out. Owner knows a lot and can speak mandarin too. They have a lot of great live baits including west coast classics like ragworms (nereis) and anchovies. read more

I'm glad there's another bait shop in town. I've been going to Hi's tackle for my bait for many years. Price increases and out of stock made me seek other suppliers. Found this place and gave it a try. The prices are a tad less expensive and they offer a huge selection of live baits...almost like a pet shop. The best part is they are two blocks from the beach. If you want to try fishing or crabbing, check out this place. They offer crab traps and fishing gear and all the bait you need. read more

This place has everything. They got pier holders and buckets. Everything in a small shop that most other shops don't have. I like that. The prices are fair for tackle but $8 for a bag of anchovy is overkill! I know rent is high but that price is more than double of our bait shops. Go here for tackle but don't expect good deals on bait. read more

Excellent experience here this morning. First time crabbing and we needed more gear than we expected. Came right at 8:00am and the guy at the front desk was super helpful and really knew his stuff. He pointed me in the direction of a really nice fishing pole and reel, crab snare, and top notch bait. Prices seemed very reasonable for a smaller shop and wasn't pushy at all. The new name is Good Luck Bait and Tackle. I stopped by this shop today to buy some braided line for surf fishing. I haven't been here in at least a year and man was I surprised. The new owner invested heavily in restocking the shops since the re-opening. There are aerated live bait tanks with anchovies! Live bait is nearly impossible to find anywhere these days aside from some boat docks in SF and East Bay Marinas. The selection of lures, line accessories is downright impressive. I appreciate the risk involved with such an investment in a town that shuts down for the winter months. I will be buying my saltwater tackle here from now on. I've always appreciated the local focus of this store which is lacking in the big chain stores. read more

I called the shop today and heard on their voicemail message that Mark has passed away. The store is open on Saturdays only and is for sale.

This tackle shop is easy to find, just off the highway on Francisco Blvd. There is a small strip of parking conveniently located in front of the store. The shop owner was friendly and pointed me to the various items he had. He was also quite aware of what was happening on the Pacifica Pier in terms of fish activity. Prices were good, and the selection was quite broad. Plenty of flurocarbon and monofilament leaders, spider weights, sliding snap swivels, heavy hooks, floats and beads to tie the infamous trolley rigs used on the pier; and also the fish finder rigs for easily spooked fish. He has a drone that has taken some cool pictures of the neighborhood and the pier. read more

I come to Pacifica about once a month to fish off the pier and this is my very first stop every time I come into town. The guy that works here is super friendly and seems to remember us every time we come into his shop. He has a great selection of fishing gear including rods, reels, crab nets and snares, weights, hooks, and lures. The shop owner is always able to give me the scoop on what is biting out at the pier and he always gives me recommendations about which bait is best for what we're trying to catch. I usually spend about $10 on a shrimp/squid combo and I'm set for a day of fishing. One odd note - the owner has a note on the door about how he's trying to clean up his act and would prefer if it you don't use curse words in his store. I can respect that and try to take a break from my usual cursing like a sailor while I buy my bait. A little self control every now and then is a good thing! The next time you come to Pacifica for some fishing at the pier, make this your first stop. Keep mom and pop shops like this alive! read more

Worms Shad Shrimp Oh my. So faced with the daunting task of introducing my man to the trials and tribulations of Pier fishing, we ran to Sports Authority when it opened and purchased the necessary rods and reel to prepare us for the tougher surf and undertow. In addition, we needed bait. Now, a little background. I grew up around fish and fishing. Hooking the bait was second nature, I had no problem setting leeches on hooks on my trips back to Wisconsin for Muskie. Or carefully threading the hook through shad for our Salmon charters out of Emeryville. However, I've always had a fear of Blood worms (when you cut them, they literally bleed, hence the name) or in this instance, Pile Worms (these suckers have two menacing pincers that pounce out of their mouths like vampire hooks) but the only place I knew of that sold live Grass Shrimp bait was in Vallejo and that was out of the question. After obtaining directions from a friendly local driving a huge souped up Mustang with a possible tunnel-ram intake jutting out of the hood like some huge parasitic steel object, we made it to this local bait shop. Packed is a good word to describe the amount of items stored here. For the avid sportsmen, everything from hooks, pails, sinkers and frozen bait and live bait. He did not carry live Grass Shrimp, but I did order a dozen Pile Worms as well as a bag of frozen Grass Shrimp. If you know exactly what you want, this is the shop for you. If you don't know what you need, this is the shop that will tell you what you need. At least I know where to get those little crawly suckers the next time we are here. read more

The shop is nice and well stocked, but what really stood out for me was the owner- I have to give him massive props. I showed up two hours after the store had closed in order to buy crab bait. I guess he heard me yelling angrily at myself outside his store, because he opened the door with a smile on his face and welcomed me in. In addition to selling me bait, he also gave me really helpful advice (apparently squid is far better bait than chicken and it won't attract the sea lions!). that I might not have picked up otherwise. A genuine shop with a genuine owner. You don't get those too much these days. read more

Went crabbing with my friends and stopped by. Besides the helpful advice, pointing us to the right bait, getting us to purchase a couple more pieces of equipment than we had actually planned, it was a nice experience. Imagine my surprise when, walking through the poles, crab traps, hooks, lures, lines, and boom, there's a beautiful new 24" iMac. The things you find. We bought a/b $40 worth of stuff, and felt empowered as we left the store to go get us some crab. Ended up catching nothing. Probably should of spent the money buying some crab at a restaurant, but it's about the memories, right. We didn't catch nothing, but that wasn't Coastside's fault. We were a bunch of city dwelling wannabes wearing cargo pants, munching on chips, lugging our lawn chairs, and wearing Oakley sunglasses. read more

The man there, I'm assuming that he's the owner, was very friendly and helpful. He steered us away from getting chicken as our bait b/c sea lions will start coming after it. Instead we got squid and mackeral to bait our crab nets. Prices are reasonable and you'll find everything you need for your crabbing trip there. My only complaint is that the baits were all frozen solid. I know it's to keep them longer, but when you're out on the pier with nothing but freezing water to "thaw" the bait...it can be a bit of an annoyance. read more

Support your local bait and tackle shops!! They have your standard assortment of tackle and bait. I just picked up a bunch of crabbing gear - a hoop plus a few snares, bait cages, and snare weighs. The guy at the counter was nice and he threw in a bag of zip ties to fasten the cages for free. Prices are what you'd expect for a local B&T. Went to this shop yesterday because we decided to go crabbing for the first time. So when you first walk in its a little overwhelming with the amount of stuff that is packed in that little store! But the man working behind the counter (I wish got his name now) was a great help! He set us up with all the gear we needed to start crabbing. Everything came out to under $65. This included the 9 ft pole, fishing line, 1 lb fresh bait, crab measure, snare and swivel. The fishing pole itself was $50 which I am told is a pretty decent price. read more

Went to coastside bait and tackle today for the first time. Not only does Marque have a great shop, he is one cool dude. So easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, and answer all my questions with no attitude and great customer service. He even help me on how to read a tide chart and when is the best times to hit the surf as i am a beginner to ocean surf fishing. I fish lake, mostly large mouth bass. Marque made me feel comfortable and had all the tackle i was looking for. I found my new tackle shop! read more

I used to buy my bait there years ago when I lived in Serramonte. Honestly, I haven't been there for almost 15 years. I used to fish in Pacifica Pier and thats where I caught my first Striped Bass. The Striped Bass I caught was huge and still is the biggest Striper I've ever caught. Now when I caught this fish, I took it too Coastside #2 Bait Shop to have it weighed. I was 16 years old and it was the year 1976. So I took the fish to the bait shop and it weighed at a whopping 36 lbs. Coastside #2 has always been special to me and they really took care of the fishermen and their needs whether it is tackle, food and cold beer. If I ever fish in Pacifica again, I will definitely stop by the Coastside #2 bait shop. read more
