We had been looking forward to coming here. It has been a while. When we arrived, there were two other tables that were taken. This was at a time between lunch and dinner. The waitress came shortly after sitting. Ordered my meal, a soft Food came out in an appropriate time. It looked lovely. I never received the water. I did remind her when she brought out the chips. After I got my meal I thought she went home for the day. The other two tables left. I sat there. I would say possibly 30 minutes. She never came out and checked on me or brought me my check. I went up to the front to pay. She then came out and gave me my check. There was just such lack of service. Well, when I used the restroom, is was nasty. New David's Mexican Grill was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. The food was outright bad--flavorless, poorly cooked, and clearly not fresh. The meat was dry and chewy, the rice tasted like it came straight from a box, and the beans were watery and bland. Nothing tasted seasoned, let alone Mexican-inspired. The place itself didn't help. Tables were dirty, the atmosphere felt neglected, and the whole restaurant gave off a "we don't care anymore" vibe. Service was slow and inattentive, and when we finally got our food, it was wrong--and no one seemed bothered by it. For the prices they charge, this is completely unacceptable. There are fast-food taco chains that serve better meals with more consistency and care. New David's Mexican Grill feels like a cash grab pretending to be a restaurant. I stopped by New David Mexican Grill on my way to the airport because I was craving some good Mexican food. They had decent reviews, even though there were not many, so I decided to give them a try. The presentation was impressive. The shrimp and steak fajitas looked great and the homemade tortillas were definitely a plus. Unfortunately, the flavor did not match the presentation. It felt like something was missing, maybe salt, garlic, or some seasoning to really bring the dish to life. I am from California where bold flavor is the standard for Mexican food. Holy smokes! This is the best burrito I've had since visiting the Mission District in San Francisco. I got a carne asada (spelled "azada" on their online menu) burrito and it was incredible. The tortilla deserves special love - it was soft and pillowy and melted in my mouth. Be aware that you will get whacked with a $1.75 "convenience fee" if you order online, so I'd recommend avoiding that if you can. I only grabbed carryout, so I can't speak to the dine-in experience, but I have a feeling I'm going to stop at David's every time I drop someone off at O'Hare. What an incredible hidden gem! Decided to Mexican today. They're a little bit of research and found this little hidden gem 2 miles from me, in Franklin Park. When entering the Restaurant was greeted immediately the server that took my order was very attentive and pleasant. The restaurant was very clean, which made the ambience Enjoyable price were on par and food was very tasty. Definitely, a must try location. Very authentic Mexican restaurant. The food and service were very good. We had the carne asada burrito and fish taco. My wife raved over the fish taco as it was a big piece of fish. The steak burrito was very good. We had a margarita and horchata, both were good. On the night we went, a musician was playing that added to the experience. Nice dining area and food presentation. I went to New David's today during an extremely busy time. I was greeted by a very nice young lady she took my to go order of 6 meals. She made sure she had the order correct and advised that the wait would be 25 minutes and asked if that was ok. (great customer service). This gave me time to enjoy a great cup of cafe con Leche. My order was done in 20 minutes. Now, when you recommend a restaurant to your co-workers, you want the food to be just as good as if you ate it there. New David's did not disappoint.
