I almost hurt myself eating this food today! My God!!!! This was my 2nd visit here. So I've had a variety of items. On my 1st visit I had a pastrami sammie & the steak sammie. Both good! 2nd visit today is had the pastrami smash burger. STOP WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING AND GO TRY IT!!! This was a game changer. We also ordered the platter with 3 meats bricket/wings/pastrami with tater tots. It was all really good, except for the ribs. But I still rate the food a 5. Mixed review for Top Butcher Market The good: The Pastrami sandwich here is as close to perfect as you can get. I'm not even much of a pastrami fan and this knocked my socks off. The mayo may have been a bit much but I didn't get the slaw so maybe that would balance it more - as it was, fat on top of fat was a little OTT. The bad: I picked up a tri-tip while I was there and it definitely brought to mind the negative meaning of "butcher". This was VERY poorly butchered - I've had much better butchering from a supermarket let alone a specialty butcher. Poorly cut, poorly trimmed (had to remove some silver skin myself on the non-visible side). Fortunately I'm smoking it so I can work around the issues but I'd be pretty upset if I was roasting it. read more

Thank you for the recommendation fellow foodies, Greg Dantona and Tom Jurek. The TB Steak Sandwich was absolutely ridiculous: perfectly grilled (medium) skirt steak, topped with roasted peppers and a melty blend of mozzarella and provolone, all on a griddled French roll. I'm really happy I found this place. I had the cream of chicken and rice soup and the bacon cheese burger. The soup was ok. The burger is definitely one of the best burgers I ever had. It was so fresh and cooked to perfect. I can't wait to buy some of their fresh meats and try some of their other food. The service was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself was pretty cool. What a find! Was looking for a burger place and found this one with good reviews. It's a small butcher shop + huge sandwich/burger menu. However, you walk in and the ribs smell amazing so getting a burger didn't happen. The ribs and fries were fantastic! The brisket chili tastes great but is very thick and rich so ate a few spoonfuls but will use the rest in a sauce or as a topping. Plus, service was friendly and food came quick. Therefore, most of the building is dedicated to that... the front of house how however is super clean, bright, and full of wonderful goodies you can pick up and bring home. This place has been popping up in a group I'm in. This place is a butcher shop that also carries interesting cheeses, prepared foods, etc. The meat in their display case looked very good. It is also part restaurant. I'm checking out their posted pics, noticing everything looked good. There was a pic with some giant King Crab legs. Had to get them for our NYE dinner. The legs were huge, and they were excellent. Some of the best I've ever had. I can only comment on the crab legs, but I will be back to get one of their daily special sandwiches. They looked great. Do not leave this restaurant without trying the pastrami! Brisket: similar experience to the Pastrami. Wonderfully cooked! Wings: simple, dry rub wings. Cooked to perfection. Wouldn't be my first thing on the list but that's not a slight. The rest of the protein was just so much better! Service: the have a great little meat market and were very attentive. Finally tried Top Butcher for dinner recently and it was good! I had a marinated chicken sandwich, which was flavorful and filling. The tater tots are seasoned for a different tot experience. I also tried the meatball sandwich, and it was very good and hearty. I am intrigued by the various specials they advertise and will definitely try more options and updated this review. Friendly staff and clean inside. I'll never eat at a place a second time if they have dirty bathrooms. I could eat off that bathrooms floor that's how clean the entire place was. I was paging through my social media when a food reviewer that I follow talked about how this place had one of the best pastrami sandwiches had ever had. I had to go check this place out. I went on a Saturday afternoon with my wife a little past noon. This place was already packed with people, which is a good sign. I had the pleasure of meeting with their Fantastic General Manager Dave. I told him I want to try a little bit of everything and he just bring stuff out. Did I know that he was going to bless me with my favorite sandwich of the year. It was nice that there was seen by a counter overlooking in the kitchen. Please just started getting dropped off of sandwich masterpieces. Here is a list of what he brought out for me to try. The Sinatra Our famous Italian sausage, rolled out and filled with Italian beef, mozzarella & provolone cheese blend, giardiniera all rolled up and cooked. Topped with homemade marinara and cheese on a griddled Turano French roll. Chicken Parm Sandwich Homemade Breaded Chicken Cutlet topped with homemade marinara sauce and cheese on a semolina XXL Butcher 2 Half pound burgers topped with American cheese, Brisket, Bacon and BBQ Sauce on a griddled brioche bun. Pastrami Sandwich 14 Hr. house cured, slow smoked, and hand cut. "Reuben" style on a thick cut griddled rye with homemade pickles, slaw, and Top Butcher Sauce. I also had a tasting of their smoked turkey and their brisket. We also tried an out of this world steak sandwich with peppers on turano bread that is not on the online menu. They I first took a bite of the hamburger one of the best hamburgers I've ever had in my life. The meat was so juicy the bun was perfect and held everything together. The flavors really accentuated the flavor the meat nothing was too salty. The hamburger easily was a 9 out of 10. The next sandwich that I tried was chicken Parmesan sandwich great classic flavors cooked chicken, tomato sauce with delicious melted mozzarella cheese, and a perfect Toronto bun it was delicious and definitely something I would check out again. I tried there unique sandwich dubbed the Sinatra what an absolute flavor bomb of a sandwich they're delicious Italian sausage stuffed with Italian beef the flavors were so intense with the giardinera delicious Italian sausage, the tender Italian beef. It was out of this world. The real star of the show was about to change my life. Their pastrami sandwich I took a bite of the sandwich, and it was everything I could possibly want. The meat was so tender. It was not filled with fat. It literally melted in your mouth, the tanginess of their special sauce. Crunchy from the homemade pickles and the slaw took me to a cloud nine heaven flavor bomb. If there was a death row last meal I would want the sandwich run walk to try this. It is better then Katz Deli in NY. The price is ridiculously cheap for what you get! I was able to sit down with General manager, Dave and partner John who is co-owner of international meats. They explain to me the way that they are able to offer the best cuts of meat at a fantastic price is because they own the meat company where they get all of these prime cuts. They are able to offer like nobody else a fantastic price for the highest quality meet that you could get. None of these meats are frozen. They are all fresh and it really comes out in the flavor and the quality. They have already expanded this location from just a small deli with a couple tables to a larger dining room. They are also talking about possibly expanding further. You can also come in for their full lineup of steaks and other meats with their full service of butcher shop and deli. The general manager, Dave is also cousins with Jeff Mauro "Sandwich King" from the Food Network. Becomes in all the time with different promotions that they run trying out new and unique sandwiches. Their latest sandwiches that sold out within the hour was a Wagyu sliced Italian beef sandwich. They also use Mauro provisions giardinera for all of their sandwiches. This place is 100% legit. It is easily on my list of top five places I have ever had the pleasure of eating in Illinois. They are open every day except for Sunday. When you stop in, please talk to Dave the general manager.
