Well being a fellow Mason near lodge 1163 recommended this place getting better their meats for cookouts and barbecules. They also have a sit down grill that you order ahead for hamburgers or any other of the American barbecue Fair or grill.it was okay in regards to the beef burger. I ordered the mushroom vegetable soup and also it was just average what was unusuals instead of giving you crackers they give you fresh bread crumbs to soak it with. Ask for a beverage I went for the watermelon mint and it was also just subpar are okay I expected the meant to be more distinguished over a watermelon they're going to do such a beverage. Service was very fast and good. Ambience is a mix of a grill and also buying their meat since they're affiliated with a local place across the street I forgot the name international. I would give them a try again maybe further ribs when I'm really hungry but I had a craving for burgers and this was okay but this isn't a place I would go to to trying their burgers or they're soup again. Both good! 2nd visit today is had the pastrami smash burger. STOP WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING AND GO TRY IT!!! This was a game changer. We also ordered the platter with 3 meats bricket/wings/pastrami with tater tots. It was all really good, except for the ribs. But I still rate the food a 5. Mixed review for Top Butcher Market The good: The Pastrami sandwich here is as close to perfect as you can get. I'm not even much of a pastrami fan and this knocked my socks off. The mayo may have been a bit much but I didn't get the slaw so maybe that would balance it more - as it was, fat on top of fat was a little OTT. The bad: I picked up a tri-tip while I was there and it definitely brought to mind the negative meaning of "butcher". This was VERY poorly butchered - I've had much better butchering from a supermarket let alone a specialty butcher. Poorly cut, poorly trimmed (had to remove some silver skin myself on the non-visible side). Fortunately I'm smoking it so I can work around the issues but I'd be pretty upset if I was roasting it. read more

Had an unreal experience at Top Butcher Market today! Grand Ave in Chicago. Hands down the BEST steak sandwich I've ever had -- and I'm not exaggerating. Thank you for the recommendation fellow foodies, Greg Dantona and Tom Jurek. The TB Steak Sandwich was absolutely ridiculous: perfectly grilled (medium) skirt steak, topped with roasted peppers and a melty blend of mozzarella and provolone, all on a griddled French roll. Pure magic. The service was just as impressive -- Karina personally introduced herself, walked me through their incredible selection of meats, and shared all the menu highlights. I'm really happy I found this place. I had the cream of chicken and rice soup and the bacon cheese burger. The soup was ok. The burger is definitely one of the best burgers I ever had. It was so fresh and cooked to perfect. I can't wait to buy some of their fresh meats and try some of their other food. The service was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself was pretty cool. The staff at Top Butcher Market are always so friendly and inviting when I walk in. This is an actual butcher. Therefore, most of the building is dedicated to that... the front of house how however is super clean, bright, and full of wonderful goodies you can pick up and bring home. What a find! Was looking for a burger place and found this one with good reviews. It's a small butcher shop + huge sandwich/burger menu. However, you walk in and the ribs smell amazing so getting a burger didn't happen. The ribs and fries were fantastic! The brisket chili tastes great but is very thick and rich so ate a few spoonfuls but will use the rest in a sauce or as a topping. Plus, service was friendly and food came quick. This place has been popping up in a group I'm in. This place is a butcher shop that also carries interesting cheeses, prepared foods, etc. The meat in their display case looked very good. It is also part restaurant. I'm checking out their posted pics, noticing everything looked good. There was a pic with some giant King Crab legs. Had to get them for our NYE dinner. The legs were huge, and they were excellent. Some of the best I've ever had. I can only comment on the crab legs, but I will be back to get one of their daily special sandwiches. They looked great. Holy Smokes!!! I am so glad I searched steak sandwich and ran into this place! I have had a burger at most of the top of everyone's list but I am not sure how this place hasn't made any list!! Friendly staff and clean inside. I'll never eat at a place a second time if they have dirty bathrooms. I could eat off that bathrooms floor that's how clean the entire place was. Crazy to find a custom butcher and diner in the city of Chicago. This place is so cool from custom cuts of meats to the open kitchen watch the chef's work over an open flame.
