Amazing food, and great portions. Can't forget about the great service i received. I had the three meat plate with ribs, corned beef, and brisket. The sauce is good but believe me you won't need it.

Arguably the best burger in all of Chicago- cook to perfection with amazing French fries on the side- if you want a tasty rare burger, give this place a shot!

Well being a fellow Mason near lodge 1163 recommended this place getting better their meats for cookouts and barbecules. They also have a sit down grill that you order ahead for hamburgers or any other of the American barbecue Fair or grill.it was okay in regards to the beef burger. It wasn't bad but it was at the it was like wow exciting burger. I ordered the mushroom vegetable soup and also it was just average what was unusuals instead of giving you crackers they give you fresh bread crumbs to soak it with. Ask for a beverage I went for the watermelon mint and it was also just subpar are okay I expected the meant to be more distinguished over a watermelon they're going to do such a beverage. Service was very fast and good. Ambience is a mix of a grill and also buying their meat since they're affiliated with a local place across the street I forgot the name international. I would give them a try again maybe further ribs when I'm really hungry but I had a craving for burgers and this was okay but this isn't a place I would go to to trying their burgers or they're soup again. This a 3 stars because of the expectations of the food service and ambience was okay

Top butcher market is awesome!!! Best customer service ever! The meats are incredible too! The pastrami is some of the best in the city! The Sinatra sandwich is so delicious! Everything here is good from the pastrami, brisket, ribs, chicken wings, pulled pork, corned beef, and more! Highly recommend! I love Top Butcher Market!

    Badly butchered tri tip

Mixed review for Top Butcher Market The good: The Pastrami sandwich here is as close to perfect as you can get. I'm not even much of a pastrami fan and this knocked my socks off. The mayo may have been a bit much but I didn't get the slaw so maybe that would balance it more - as it was, fat on top of fat was a little OTT. The bad: I picked up a tri-tip while I was there and it definitely brought to mind the negative meaning of "butcher". This was VERY poorly butchered - I've had much better butchering from a supermarket let alone a specialty butcher. Poorly cut, poorly trimmed (had to remove some silver skin myself on the non-visible side). Fortunately I'm smoking it so I can work around the issues but I'd be pretty upset if I was roasting it.

Visiting the city this place popped up on my search. Seems like great prices for good quality! Fast and simple service. Got the Italian dog with the Italian Beef sandwhich, which gave a decent sized portion.

I'm really happy I found this place. I had the cream of chicken and rice soup and the bacon cheese burger. The soup was ok. The burger is definitely one of the best burgers I ever had. It was so fresh and cooked to perfect. I can't wait to buy some of their fresh meats and try some of their other food. The service was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself was pretty cool. I love that it iS BYOB. I wish a place this amazing was closer to me. The only issue I have is that for the price. The burger should come with fries.

This is the perfect size for making mohinga (Burmese catfish soup). They also have a fish service counter if you need them to cut it into smaller pieces. They have nice big sturdy plastic bags that can fit the whole fish. They have separate service counters for chicken, fish, and beef/pork which is helpful to reduce cross contamination. It's super cold so make sure you bring a down jacket and beanie! The service line sometimes takes a bit of time so just be aware of that. There are plenty of other meat offerings like whole chicken, pork, sausage, beef, etc. All of them look really fresh and very competitive pricing. There's also a grocery store section where you can buy fresh vegetables, spices, and even baked goods like paczkis. The Bavarian cream paczki was delicious and not too sweet. There's also bulk frozen foods like fries and jalapeno poppers (if I remember correctly). Finding a whole catfish in Chicago can be difficult and I'm glad I can always trust Peoria packing for my catfish needs. The whole 2 lb catfish was only $6, incredible deal! The parking lot is decently sized, on a busy day like Christmas or Thanksgiving you can drive further near where the trucks are parked and park along the fence. For special holiday hours they were responsive both through Instagram DM and phone calls to confirm their hours! Really great service. They recently moved to this new location in October 2025. It used to be near Fulton Market in West Loop. Different location but same great service and item selection, probably more spacious too.

Had I ordered from the place I usually have, I would have had to pay a shipping fee of $35 whether I had it shipped to my home or to the business. I hadn't heard of Joseph's before but decided to take a chance. I placed my order by phone the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and they took it with no problem, no extra charges; they also took the bone out for me. I was a bit nervous just because I hadn't tried this place before, and if there was a problem there wouldn't be much chance to fix it or easily switch gears. But I needn't have worried. While it would be helpful if they decided whether they were going to use numbers or just a line (I pulled a number upon entering, but they weren't advancing the numbers and instead just taking people who said they were next), I was in and out within ten minutes. The employees were helpful. Like many butchers, they have more than just the meat but it's not a grocery store (though I found I could have gotten the baguette that I made a separate stop to procure). The turkey breast I bought was at least half of what it would have cost at the place I've used in the past. With that kind of savings, paying their 4% credit card fee was fine by me (pay cash to save yourself the fee). Parking is easy; it's Dunning, not Lake View. Will definitely come back, possibly sooner than later since I've been wanting to try making a pot roast and I expect they'd have the right cut of beef for that. I won't bother with the butcher I used to go to with this one so nearby.

About 2 days before I was telling a friend where i got my turkey and she asked me how i plan to cook it. Cook it?? It literally had not occurred to me that my turkey would be raw. If it's not obvious from this review and ALL my restaurant reviews the kitchen is not where I shine. I called Hofherr to ask if they could cook my turkey and while apparently they do that it was too late to put in the request. Good to know for next time. Wednesday morning I joined the rest of the North Shore to pick up my raw turkey. I ran into a friend while waiting for it who is more of an expert when it comes to making turkeys and she asked them to give me gravy, a turkey bag (apparently easier and lessy messy to cook in a bag) and some directions. The next day I followed their directions along with some help from my bestie chatgpt. I stuck it in the oven and crossed my fingers we wouldn't be going without a turkey this thanksgsiving. We had a little mishap when the thermometer melted into the turkey (oops), but besides that it really wasn't too difficult of a process. And while I had trouble eating a turkey after seeing it raw my family was thrilled that it was perfectly moist and praised my turkey making skills. I did have a few bites and did think it was pretty good- and i dont even like turkey. I would definitely get my turkey from here again, although next time i'll be ordering a cooked turkey out of convenience. But for those of you who like to cook a turkey I recommend them!
