Good Chicago eats located in Chicago adjacent west suburban River Grove. Good solid breakfast. The service is friendly and quick by local gals and guys. Neighborhood folks. They turn the tables over quick and it seems they always have a full room on weekends. Decent breakfast and good sized portions. It's a really clean place. They have ample parking which is always a huge plus around here. The decor is what does it here. It's Blondie's and anyone who remembers or has seen the old 50's cartoon knows the scoop. Blondie, Dagwood & the whole gang. They were rough around the edges cartoon characters and Blondies Diner seems to emulate this feel. From the decor and staff personality to the neighborhood patrons it's a straight forward they take no bullsh*t kinda joint. They expect you to be kind and well mannered to staff and patron alike. The grub is good and the menu offerings appropriate for the Chicago diner scene. It's a family feel good kinda place.

We ordered to go and the food was so good. The lady on the phone was also very kind and let us know that to-go would be 40 minutes which wasn't surprising seeing how busy they get so we didn't mind at all. I got the steak skillet and my partner got the meat lovers skillet and we both agreed that this is our new breakfast spot. The meat was tender, the bread was so soft, the hash browns cooked perfectly, the peppers juicy and cooked well. I also appreciated that they put tinfoil in the containers because most breakfast places don't and the food usually ends up melting through the styrofoam so even details like that really show that they have been around and know how to run a food business.

Blondies did not disappoint, great food, outstanding service. I was not sure what to order, so I had the Shut Up and Eat It Breakfast. The cookdetermined what they wanted to make and that is what you got. Great place !

A buddy of mine and I decided to get breakfast for lunch. I have to say I was highly pleased. The quality and amount of food you get for the price is amazing. The ambiance reminded me of diners from the past. So this is a golden gem! The Denver omelette I got was very tasty anyone who orders it won't be disappointed! And the server was so nice and checked in on my friend and I often! Give blondies diner a try!

Great place to dine breakfast. We were for a sunday. It was packed with lots of regular customers. Food choices on the menu had lots of varieties and prices were just right. Would definitely come back.

Our server was friendly and attentive without being overbearing and seemed like she knew most of the people at her tables. We happened to be here when they have $7 bourbon mixers with good bourbon and they were not at all watered down. The food was delicious- we started with toasted ravioli and stuffed mushrooms and it was a great way to start. I wanted to try the fish tacos as that's normally my go-to, but I knew I wouldn't be able to eat them all after the appetizers, so went with the steak quesadilla, which had a ton of cheese and chopped steak so you got some in every bite. I will definitely be back to try the fish tacos!

Inside was pretty empty, we were there on a Thurs night and it seemed like mostly a few other corporate groups and regulars. There's a room with slot machines which I thought was interesting. Quick service, large portions and food came out fast. 4/5 chicken caldo soup - spicy but really flavorful 2/5 wings - dry rub was a bit too dry for their liking 3/5 friend got a salad with poppyseed dressing but didn't end up using the dressing as it had a bit of a strange consistency for her. She said it was okay tho. 3.5/5 ultimate grilled cheese, added a burger patty medium and red onions. The burger was good but cooked more medium well. Waffle fries generous but didn't care much for the ranch. 3.5/5 jambalaya - friends enjoyed it and the serving was large. 4/5 bread pudding was tasty and so was the ice cream. Service was great and it was just what we needed to get us some extra food. Menu was extensive and she indicated all was made fresh. Not necessarily food I'd crave & seek out if I was back in the area but it was pleasantly surprising and exactly what we needed!

The margaritas were bland and had table salt just smothered in the rim which made it very unappealing. Then the chips and guacamole turned me off from ordering anything else. The guac was either out of a tube or box I had a little bit and it tasted awful and as it sat in the bar top it just turned brown like green after 20 minutes. Service was decent but there was only one table occupied on a Sunday lunchtime which should have been a giveaway. The food that came out for another table looked decent but after the guac I only imagined the rest of the food was probably frozen or boxed items and didnt want to spend any more money there.

Turns out, Short Fuse was right up the road and a 5 minute walk got us there. For a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but not dead, so we got seated right away. We ordered some beer and took a look at the menu. While nothing really struck our fancy, our waitress made a comment that if we did want any food, it might be slim pickings as they were running out of stuff. Turns out, this day was the last day they were open. Talk about timing! After she mentioned that, I started to notice that people were buying bar signs and various other things. Emily started off with a Guava Gose and I grabbed a Krankshaft kolsch. We sampled each other beers and we both really liked what the other ordered. I don't really know what a gose is but, damn, was that good! I've had Krankshaft before so I knew what I was getting myself in to. We ended up ordering a second round of the same beers and let each other sample the other's beer a little more liberally this time. While we were kind of hungry, nothing on the menu really struck our fancy, especially considering they might've been out of it. Room service took care of those hunger pangs later after a few more beers in the hotel bar. Online reviews for this place seemed hit and miss but I really enjoyed my time there and really enjoyed the artwork on the walls and the vibe of the place. We did contemplate buying some bar signs on our way out but declined as we don't know what we would exactly do with them. The host saw that it was our anniversary and so they brought us to a private table that was off to the side from everyone else.. Our server was flawless. Engaging, fun, thorough but also allowed us to have our night. A true professional. We split a 10 oz filet and she cut it for us. We also tried four sides and she and the busser made it all work. A manager named Dianne came by to congratulate us, gave us her card and bought my wife an espresso martini. That gesture will make us return to this location again and again. Finally we tried the macadamia turtle dessert and the one tip I have food wise from this visit is... you probably need 4 people who are still hungry to finish this dessert. I have had similar shaped desserts before except this one was about three times the size. Our server (wish I remembered her name), busser and the manager all knocked it out of the park, We will be back!

Since it was a special occasion, we finally had the opportunity to dine here, and I made our reservation through the Resy app. When we arrived, we were seated quickly. The first thing that really caught my attention was the atmosphere. The restaurant was converted from a church, and I absolutely love how they preserved the original character of the space. The high ceilings make the restaurant feel open and spacious, while the beautiful stained-glass windows add so much charm and personality. For appetizers, we started with the Shrimp Saganaki and Lobster Maki Roll. Of the two, the Shrimp Saganaki was our favorite. We enjoyed the presentation, flavor, and texture, which were all right up our alley. The Lobster Maki Roll was good, but in my opinion, the lobster-to-rice ratio was a little too heavy on the rice. For my entrée, I ordered the Brick Chicken, which was served as a chicken quarter leg. It was cooked perfectly--the skin was crispy, the meat was tender and juicy, and the garlic sauce complemented the chicken beautifully. For dessert, we ordered the Banana Sticky Toffee Pudding served with vanilla gelato. It was phenomenal and the perfect way to finish our dining experience. I also have to mention the service. Our server was welcoming, attentive, and made us feel comfortable throughout our first visit. The restaurant went above and beyond to make our anniversary even more memorable by surprising us with complimentary champagne and dessert with a sparkling candle. That thoughtful gesture truly made the evening special. Overall, the atmosphere, service, and food were all a hit for us. We had a wonderful anniversary dinner and left with a great experience. They've definitely gained another loyal customer!
