    Fish Chowder - 8 oz.
    Jamie A.

Our next stop was this sea food market/restaurant. It was not busy, and plenty of seats were available, a great lunch stop. We ordered sides to get a good variety including scallops, haddock, shrimp, and clams. All the seafood was fresh and dint need seasoning. The best was the clams and haddock fish! The chowder was solid and good but the real show stopper was the clams. Service was quick and freshly made. They offer a station for self service water and a take away disposable utensils. Drinks include options from the fridge, and some alcohol options behind the counter. Tables were clean, and we enjoyed our little lunch stop! I can only imagen how busy they get in the summer, but our timing and season stop was a good way to get some good food before the summer crowd.

Simply the best scallops. They are as fresh as you can get right off the boat and onto table. They're lightly fried to perfection. The taste of each scallop is just amazing how flavorful they are. Juicy and soft just perfection in every bite. If you can't get enough scallops, try the scallop chowder, it's simply amazing. If you're in Kittery you have to each here. The scallop basket is the best and only thing I've eaten here. The service is amazing and they are so friendly. Awesome dining experience.

Swinging on in here back to Boston and wow this was worth it. Phenomenal and fresh lobster. I really was impressed by the food and the service. Epic experience.

If you're looking for a quaint little place to grab some fresh local seafood (to enjoy there or to-go), this might be the spot for you! You can tell this is mainly geared for take and bake seafood, not so much sit down dining, although it is an option. The food looked and smelled so fresh. The seating area isn't big or super fancy, but it does the trick. They had a lot of handmade clam decorations which helped give it a small town store feel. It was a little chilly, but it was close to closing, their ovens weren't on and it was cold and rainy so I imagine they turned down the heat for the day. They get extra points on service because it was the day before a holiday and pretty slow... we just wanted a few stuffies (aka stuffed clams for those none New Englanders) but they weren't technically on the sit down menu, just to-go. Well they ended up offering to warm them up for us in their oven, but it had been off and would take a bit to heat up. We said that wasn't a problem and grabbed a glass of wine to enjoy while we waited. The staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful! We didn't feel out of place or rushed as it was clear we were from around there. The stuffies were phenomenal. Perfectly cooked with just enough spices and a little extra cheese than normal which kept all the ingredients together and gave you an extra cheesy taste with every bite. Mmmmm... I'm still thinking of them! I'd come back if I ever find myself in the area again and highly recommend to anyone who might be as well!

    Fried scallops & scallop chowder

We got the scallop chowder and fried scallops as per recommendation from a friend. We each got a 8oz cup for $10 and the 1/4 pound scallops were $15. The service was pretty quick, and everything was fresh and hot. You order and sit yourself, and they bring out your food. The fried scallops were HUGE! They were huge lightly coated, fresh, and flavorful. The chowder was really good too. There were huge scallops in our soup too. Nice little lunch. We wanted to get little neck clams on the half shell too, but they were sold out! The ambiance was nice. It was pretty quiet and not very crowded around 1pm. There's a nice deck you can sit at in the back under some umbrella. They also have large tables for groups. Small tables for 2, and booths towards the back. 10/10 would recommend! And would come again!

What a cool spot! We've bought fish from these folks for a few years now, but usually at pop ups outside markets, but now they have their own spot! This is both a fish market and restaurant. While we've only eaten at the restaurant for lunch, everything has been very good. This is a very casual spot with both indoor and outdoor tables. You order at the register and the staff brings the food to your table. They have a variety of chowders and my favorite is the scallop chowder. Just incredibly rich and delicious with plenty of large tender chowder. You can also buy this frozen to bring home. We've also tried the fish tacos which were good. The menu is limited, at least at lunch time, so keep that in mind. The fish market has a nice, but small, selection of fresh fish and a pretty nice selection of oysters. Another interesting element to this market is the selection of frozen fish that is a bit harder to find. They seem to have a connection with the west coast and bring in Black Cod (Sablefish) and other Pacific fish that would be hard to find. They do have frozen Dungeness crab, but it is a bit too pricey, it is offered for less most anywhere else. Nice people, friendly service and a great option to have in town for a quick bite or to purchase fish to take home and cook. Check them out!

The portions were large and the service was great. We got the shrimp tacos and the hot lobster roll, both were delicious!

I am going to brag for a minute, so bear with me: I've eaten all sorts of seafood, regularly, from all over the world & the U.S., including multiple countries in Asia & Europe. So what, you ask? Well I had the fried scallop basket this weekend at Fishmongers & it was one of the BEST ever. Soooo savory, with a light, crunchy batter: I could taste the flavor of each scallop - and I did not want the experience to end. And then the basket meal contained shoestring cut, fresh, fried potatoes - I ate every single bit of those, too. Usually the fries accompanying such meals at other restaurants are tasteless &, to be honest, throwaways. Not at Fishmongers. Even more savory seafood: my wife & I shared their haddock chowder - quite good, with large chunks of fish & potatoes. The cole slaw was nice, too, but I have had better slaw elsewhere. Speaking of my wife, she had the whole belly fried clam basket: she loved hers & shared some with me - I agree with her. Service was pleasant & courteous - the owner, Tim, even came over to our table to check on us. Prices are reasonable, too, and the tables and facilities are clean. So, while this was my first visit to Fishmongers, I definitely don't expect it to be my last!

    Gluten Free Fried Scallop Basket

I visited Kittery for about a day and a half and I went here TWICE. Food is as fresh as it gets- and SO gluten free friendly. Dedicated fryers, educated staff, gluten free BEER and CHOWDER too!!! Unreal. When we went it was quiet enough to feel relaxed, but it is casual enough to be kid/family friendly. Friday is a fish fry (also gluten free), and I overheard an older couple in the table next to us say "I live around here and I have had lots of seafood- this is the BEST fried fish I've ever had."

Stopped to try the fish and chips and the fried clams. We couldn't finish either, the oil was old.

Tons of locals seem to rate this business in extremely high regards and I can see why. You walk in…read moreand are immediately greeted with the pleasant smell of fresh seafood. And they have the displays to match. On this partly cloudy afternoon, I was in search of lobster tails. Upon requesting them, I discovered two things.. 1.) Unfortunately, the tails offered are not very big. Near as I can figure, they come in packs of 3 of what appear to be around 5 ounces each. 2.) Lobster really IS more affordable if you buy it in Maine. For context, a standard two pack of lobster tails at 5 ounces each (or sometimes 4oz) costs me around $25 in NH at the time of writing this review. The 3 pack of the same size tails costs the same price here at Taylor. So, naturally I bought two of those and ultimately nabbed a little under 2 pounds of lobstah for a mere $50. Sufficed to say - we will most certainly return at a future date. I have my eyes set on the fresh lobster meat next. As mentioned, everything in the glass display looked delicious. The place is easy enough to find. Just be aware their entrance is actually not in the front of the building, but on the right hand side. It's a little confusing at first, especially considering the tiny street view sign doesn't help much. If you drive into the "boat drop off" section, you're on the wrong side. Other items I wouldn't mind trying next visit are their lobster bisque and clam chowder. If you're coming across the border as I do, one pro tip I'd offer is to bring a cooler to keep your produce in for the day as you travel back. We transported the lobstah back in my car on an 85 degree day and the gel ice packs kept everything cold enough not to oxidize. Definitely check this place out for all your fresh seafood needs. The locals have spoken and I agree; Taylor Lobster Company is worth 5 fresh, buttery lobstah tails charred on the grill out of 5.

One prepared so well that you think about it for the rest of the day. From the moment I stepped in until I placed my order, all the staff were so friendly and attentive (not just with me but all the other customers that kept entering the establishment). The lobster rolled was not dressed like what you'd usually find in New England. In fact, it was lightly seasoned and allowed you to taste the sweetness of lobster meat itself and how perfectly cooked it was! You can't hide quality when serving it almost bare like this that it's a purist's dream! Dang, I can't stop thinking about! The shrimp sandwich was another simple culinary delight executed well. Perfectly cooked shrimp, dressed lightly, on a nicely toasted buttered brioche with crisp lettuce and tomatoes. I inhaled this just as quickly with my eyes rolling with every bite. Dang it again. The gluten-free clam chowder was a great way to finish off this quick meal. Perfectly balanced, tasty, salted perfectly, and loaded with chunky clams. What a way to warm up in this NE chilly weather this time of year. Without even trying their other fresh seafood options, they've already made it to my list of must-visits when in the area.
