Food came out quick , was piping hot just how I like it. Boneless buffalo were good, bone-in wings were better. Their buffalo sauce is delicious. They gave us plates, forks, cups of ice. I think Covid made some distinctive changes in pizza restaurants and the very fact that I find it hard to find a place where I can purchase a single slice is one of the most annoying. I popped in here and equivalent of two slices. They did not police how many toppings I requested and they make it fresh. I also ordered wings which weren't as yummy and were soaked in an oily sauce. I kind of felt like they weren't if the best quality due to the size of them though I know some people like their wings super huge. I'd return for the tiny pizza. read more

Wow... What happened to this once great place? What was once a cozy and warm mainstay casual eatery for the entire Pennypack area with consistently good food and friendly service is now a mere shell of its former self. After removing lots of booths and painting over a charming old mural, it's now cold and barren looking. Stacks of soda bottles stored in plain sight and lots of irritating harsh lighting and TVs. Robotic service. No smiles. The pizza's still good, but now it's best to take it out rather than sit in the depressing "dining" room. NEW ENGLAND PIZZA (NE Shopping Center, Welsh and Blvd.) We have always liked the food from New England Pixxa, in the Northeast Shopping Center at Welsh and Roosevelt Boulevard, and we still like it. For most of the COVID pandemic, they have remained open for pickup or delivery only. Recently, they have allowed eat-in service again, and Liz and I tried it last night. It was a Friday night, and counting us, only three tables had customers eating there. After we sat down, it took a while before a waitress came to our table - so long that Liz said to me, "Maybe we should phone them and request delivery to our table." LOL Salt and pepper shakers were the only condiments at our table. It took a while for our food to come. Our sandwiches and fries were good, but we were not offered ketchup until we were almost finished. The only drinks available were canned or bottled soda, no hot tea or coffee. Their staff were mostly busy with taking and filling phone orders. I would advise anyone who likes their food to pick it up or have it delivered, don't eat in. We used to love eating there, but from now on, will only do pickup or delivery. read more

just now I was researching some local pizza spot in the area and after reading several reviews decided to place an order. I read a few bad ones, but you can not please everyone all the time. The young lady (Lindsay) who answered the phone was extremely polite and professional. I ordered a small pizza and veggie quesadilla. I explained I was a first time customer and inquired on the curbside pick up process. She said no problem, explained everything and even provided a landmark for me to find the location. Upon arrival I was impressed, my food was ready when advise and she took payment without any problems. Lindsay was very genuine and we chatted a few moments in the parking lot. My food was fresh, hot and delicious. I try my best to support small businesses, as they are the backbone of our communities. I ordered a plain clazone. It was okay, way too much ricotta in my opinion but that's not why I'm writing the review. I called in an order for pick up. I was told the total and how long, pretty standard. When I got there, I walked in with a mask on and the two women at the counter responded to my presence half annoyed and half confused. One of them said "Oh my god" audibly and called the others name so she could address me. I was asked "Did you order?" with a tone that sounded more like "Are you serious?". I put two and two together: "Yeah, pick up for Adam. Is there a sign out front saying not to come in?" The younger woman who was ringing up my order said yes while the other said to someone else behind the counter "He even put it real big right in the middle of the thing!" I was told that I wasn't the only person to miss the sign today. I suggested they give instructions to people over the phone that call in pick up orders about not coming in, it didn't seem like the suggestion was taken seriously. Apparently locking the door is a bad idea too. A bit of small talk about it later and I was walking out with my calzone. Just out of curiousity, I took a good look at the door, front window and table menu they had outside: there was no sign posted about not coming in to pick up your order. That's why I'm writing the review. I regret apologizing on my way out and I won't be giving them any more of my business. Not only was it handled in a very unprofessional way, there wasn't even a sign posted to begin with. I was the manager of food and nutrition at a hospital for a few years and I managed a small cafeteria. If I wanted customers to be aware of something, I made it loud and clear. If it was misunderstood, I blamed myself and not them. Given that I wasn't the only person to walk in today, maybe they should reconsider how they're operating during a pandemic. read more

I would not take my ex-wife here to eat. Here is my experience and observations. The place has turned in to DUMP. Smelly, dirty, dusty, cob webs in the corners of the ceiling. You can see in the kitchen the floor is disgusting, The food handling space are by no means exceptionally clean Furniture leave a lot to be desired, not comfortable at all The food is made cheaply, Pizza is all most all dough, paper thin cheese, bland and boring sauce. And then I got violently sick, Lets say it the place was mexican, i got Montazuma's Revenge with wicked vengence. Lost two days of works as a result Probably needs a visit to the health department. After years of experiencing great pizza and great service at New England Pizza, I'm sorry to have to write to say that it has finally crashed and burned. On my most recent visit, the pie and service were SO bad, I had to write about it immediately, so that hopefully, when they read this, they'll get they're act together again. I called ahead as i have done many times in the past, got there in about 15 minutes and conversed with the counter girls for a minute before sitting down on the padded bench to wait for my order (a large pizza). Unbeknownst to me, a pie that was sitting in a box ready to go was mine, but another person put a bag with another order on top of it. Although I suspected that was my pie under that bag, I didn't say anything; I figured the bag and the box were together and continued to wait for my order. After another 20 minutes, I asked what was taking so long. When they looked for my order, they lifted the bag and looked at the ticket and sure enough, it WAS my pizza getting cold and soggy under that sack. When I said to the counter girl, "That's been sitting there a long time". I expected her to say, "I'm sorry, let me put that back in the oven for a minute to heat it" or something to that effect. Her response? She shrugged her shoulder and said, "Hey, I'M not the phone girl!" Wrong answer. The pie was soggy, cold and took way too long, No matter who took the order on the phone, your customers should be walking out carrying a hot pie with that trademark crispy, toasty crust. Pretty easy to find place. I went in and it was jumping. No, just coworkers in for lunch, no party. But this told me that many come here for lunch so it must be okay. I ordered personal pizza and mozzarella fries. They don't serve individual slices. My order was received nice and fresh. The pizza was okay. I could tell the sauce was little sweeter than most places make. I wasn't totally impressed. The mozzarella fries were partially covered with mozzarella. Not cool. I like cheese. I want my fries mozzarella(d). If that makes any sense. There were a lot of plain fries left. Total order was 7 something. Just to be fair maybe that isn't the item to order from here. Their food and service is dependable and worth the now long drive to Welsh Rd. We always order pizza and soda- don't want to chance anything beside an amazing meal. I might be a tiny girl, but I'm so sure I could eat a whole pie if a really wanted to just because it's so hard to stop biting into the perfectly baked sweet tasting thick crust and the freshest pizza cheese i have ever consumed! My dad and I are from Jersey but we both know it is ten million times worth the ride and toll to get this extra cheese anchovy pizza. If you have ever had FIRST England pizza on Frankford you will find NEW England's quite similar, with the only evident difference being the thicker crust. Both are outstanding though. I believe in giving credit where due. They have one of the best cheese steaks that I have ever tasted. The pizza is good. Their prices are very reasonable. They are also very friendly. Unfortunately, they need a lot of work. It's not the condition of the place or the fact that they don't turn air on in summer and you have to eat in the heat; it's the dirty habits of the employees. I was there a week ago and the girl who answers the phone and takes orders actually pulled her hair band out and started shaking her head to fluff her hair. She then continuously ran her fingers through her hair before reinserting the hair band. A few days ago, I returned to eat again and witnessed 3, count them 3 waitresses put their fingers in their noses. I realize that people do this subconsciously, but to do it around found, NO!! TO be honest, there are way too many people in the kitchen area. The owner/manager occasionally comes out to the dining area to mess with the young girls who work there. My advice: teach your wait staff not to pick their noses or fix their hair while working. Get all of those people out of the kitchen, but change NOTHING about the food. That's delicious! read more
