This place never disappoints, the service is always at the top. Food is always fresh and fast. Best cheese steaks and pizza u can get in the northeast, will always be back too try something new.

I've had on my list to try for a while. We went on a Friday evening and it was but we were seated right away. Lots of tables enjoying the pizza and pasta dishes. We decided to try the sandwiches instead: Don Cheech's steak and Italiano. The cheesesteak was hot and absolutely delicious. The chicken cutlet on the Italiano was prefectly breaded and cooked. Flavors were spot on and you could tell everything was freshly made. It's a family-owned and operated spot, there's something about that personal touch that really comes through in the food and service. We'll definitely be back!

Decided to get a pizza (American Boy) with the cauliflower crust. How disappointing. It is the smallest, thinnest pizza that barely qualified as an appetizer. You couldn't taste the cauliflower at all because of how thin it is. To charge the same amount for a regular sized pizza ($18) is really unbelievable. There are no pictures to indicate the size or a description letting you know how small and thin it is.

It you haven't been to Cafe Carmela yet you need to change that! This is the old Blue Duck location on Holmes Ave near Nazareth Hospital In the NE. It's on the smaller cozier side. They have a larger Huntington Valley location that would be better for larger groups. No resevations. BYOB. Only $20 for this huge plate of chicken parm and house made rigatoni! Food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. I love the ice cold bottles of water they bring to the table. The sandwich's looked amazing! Tables are close so it was hard not to spy on what our neighbors ordered! Their Italian chicken cutlet sandwich looked amazing! There is a 3% charge for using credit cards and no ATM that I saw close by so bring cash if you want to save a few bucks,

I enjoy this place to say the least. The wings are pretty good. Not the most flavorful but they're good. I wish they were a tad more crispy though. Their ranch its served with is a nice addition. The cheesesteak was ehh the first time I had it (w cooper cheese) I tried it again but got their cheese sauce instead which definitely made it taste a lot better! I hate they don't add condiments on their steaks because it "messes up" the flavor. I honestly don't care what their reason is, as paying customers we should be able to get our food the way we want it. Pizza is pretty good. I have yet to try the pasta

Whenever I eat here the food never disappoints! The pizza, the crust, the pepperoni just chefs kiss. But don't get me started on the cheesesteak...it was absolutely delicious! Something about the onions & cooper sharp on a cheesesteak just gives it such great flavor!

Cheesesteak with onions, Cooper sharp cheese and long hots

I had my sister pick up a Philly cheesesteak from here when she went to meet her friend for dinner. Per my cousins recommendation I ordered the Ribeye with onions, Cooper sharp cheese, salt, pepper and long hots. I was told to ask for salt and pepper otherwise it doesn't come seasoned. I am a big believer the bread is what makes the cheesesteak. The bread was really good, they know what they are doing. I love Cooper sharp cheese more than the traditional cheese sauce. The long hots gives the cheesesteak the perfect spiciness. All in all my cheesesteak craving palette was satisfied.

Stopped in on a rainy day, but the inside was still humming with patrons. I was tired of hearing from people about the cheesesteak, so I had to have a first hand experience. Don Cheech's Steak - $16 fine cut ribeye - not chewy at all, no gristle. Not drippy, but mixed in with plenty of Cooper sharp provolone. Went well with hot cherry peppers ($1 add on). Cooper sharp provolone was melted into the roll nicely, heavy, but not a dripping mess while mixed in well with the ribeye. Bread was a seeded roll, fresh and crispy outside, soft inside and the cheese was melted into it. Sandwich itself held together well. One of the better cheesesteaks you'll find around. The staff was so nice and prompt. They were handling the take out orders and tables calmly and with a smile. The inside is cozy and bigger than you'd think. Everything was clean and I enjoyed the Italian atmosphere. Will stop in again sometime to explore more of the menu, but the steak experience was definitely worth it. Thanks guys!

Love this spot. Its a about to be a fav of mine. I have been here twice. Food is delicious and filling. The ambience is very mom and pop but has a modern flair. Took a friend here for his birthday after he saw the restaurant on social media. They even put on lights, sang, and brought a dessert out when ai told them it was my friend's birthday last minutes. Service my first time was super friendly and accommodating. The takeout experience was good too and food still delicious but service was not as friendly.

Our half and half pizza (half cheese and half sausage)

The title of this review should be "It's Still As Good As I Remember." Kicking off this year with one of my favorite places, Cafe Carmela's. We have visited both locations, but Holme Ave seems to be our favorite. Yesterday, we stopped by to soothe our wing and pizza desires. Simple glad we got in around 12:30 bc we grabbed the last 2 seater (table). We looked over the menu and quickly realized we would like to stick with the plan, pizza and wings. So, we ordered the buffalo chicken parm wings "well done" and a regular pizza (half sausage). The wait time was maybe 15 mins or so. Our wings and pizza arrived together. We quickly started on the wings. They were crispy with a nice mixture of sauce and blue cheese. None of the ingredients over powered the other. Next up, the pizza. I loved the crisp and firmness of the thing crust with just the right amount of sauce, sausage and cheese ratio. The slices were just the right size. Thereby allowing me to eat both, pizza and wings. That's rare for me. I'm usually too full to eat both. We barely finished our 8 wings and definitely took home 5 slices of pizza. Yay! I like having more pizza to eat the next day. We can't wait ti go back to Cafe Carmela's this year to see what new menu items we can devour.

Stopped by on our way to New York off a friend's recommendation and was not disappointed! I got the Drunken Chicken Cheesesteak and it was sooo good! I ordered online and it was ready when I got there! Loved that there was a parking lot so easy in/easy out!

Oh yes! While Cafe Carmela was a little distance from City Hall for me, this restaurant delivers incredible cheesesteaks and Italian food. I came to Cafe Carmela on a Tuesday Night and it was packed with patrons. I was able to be seated despite how busy it was. I ended up ordering: Don Cheech: this is their top notch cheesesteak. It's one of the best I've had in Philadelphia. The cooper sharp, onions, and ribeye along with the Carangi bread makes it one of the best Cheesesteaks in Philadelphia. Carm's Parm Chicken: THE. GRAVY. Is killer. What delicious sauce they make here. The chicken parm was tasty along with the very flavorful ragatoni. I absolutely loved this. Maybe more than the cheesesteak, and that's saying something! Cafe Carmela does get packed. It's a little loud inside but manageable. The staff are efficient and nice. Overall a great restaurant in Philadelphia if you don't mind a little bit of a drive.

Our server apologized for a delay in taking our drink orders. She was attentive the rest of our meal. I ordered a Charles deGaulle whiskey cocktail. Lemon, aperol and simple syrup added a refreshing twist. For entrees, my wife ordered the pacherri; a simple pork ragu with tender broccoli rabe, Parmesan, stracciatello and basil. The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. Cocktail prices and entree prices were very reasonable. They offer happy hour drinks and specials. Certainly a very good choice if you're in the area.

The short rib over polenta was probably my favorite thing on the table - it fell apart easily and the polenta underneath wasn't as heavy as I expected it to be. We got the salted caramel budino for dessert too, and I was glad it wasn't one of those desserts that's so sweet you can only handle two bites. Would go back honestly. Probably order something different next time just to try more of the menu, but I'm getting that ricotta again no matter what.

While I might choose another place for takeout, when the goal is a night of pizza, wine, great atmosphere, and authentic neighborhood vibes, this is usually where we end up. The space is bright, industrial, airy, and thoughtfully designed but unforced. White walls, warm wood, considered lighting, and a floor plan with real breathing room. The vibe recalls Bucktown, Wicker Park, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint: design-forward but genuinely local. There's a great bar, and booths near the kitchen with glass windows that let you watch the staff. Our three-year-old was mesmerized, and the staff was warm and playful, smiling and waving while they cooked. A small detail, but memorable. The crowd feels local. Good music, friendly people, hip but never pretentious. It's just a fun place to be with great service, too. The food is outstanding. We usually order the chicories caesar with grana padano and breadcrumbs, and the lettuce salad with shaved vegetables and creamy oregano dressing. For pizza, we love the arrabbiata (the Angry pie) and tomato pie with sausage and pickled chilies. My wife enjoys the ice cream. A note on bringing kids: I don't think this is a family restaurant, but if your kids are curious and well-behaved, it's absolutely worth bringing them earlier in the evening. We've gone around 4:30 or 5:00 on weekends and always felt comfortable. One time, our daughter had a full meltdown, and we were mortified, but the staff couldn't have been cooler. They packed everything to go, kindly and without any judgment. That kind of grace is hard to fake, and it genuinely stuck with us. Pricing is fair for the quality of the food and the experience. Places like this can seem overrated or overpriced, but this one doesn't. It offers real value for a memorable night out. The whole restaurant feels like a microcosm of Philadelphia's progressive, creative side. There's real ambition behind it, but it still feels human and grounded, nothing sterile, nothing corporate, nothing over-engineered. Just smart people building a cool neighborhood place that others actually want to spend time in. Oh, and make a reservation. Great spot, Joe. We'll be back soon. Thank you!

The hostess took our coats (a nice touch!) and then a rotation of two servers explained the specials and we ordered. I love that the menu is on the shorter side and they rotate the pizza offerings, so even if you're visiting on a regular basis, you'll always be able to try something new. Additionally, when a menu is only about 2 pages, you know everything on those two pages is top notch, as was the case at Pizzeria Beddia. This evening we got the meatballs (didn't take a photo, was too excited, but they were HUGE and excellent) and the beef, pork and veal balls with a rich red sauce was outstanding. Came in an order of 2 but one was plenty for each of us. The Pizza we got had potatoes on it, and we added sausage per the servers recommendation, and it was cooked perfectly and all of the flavors blended so well together. We are so lucky to have an amazing (and nationally recognized!) pizza spot in the neighborhood and it's always nice when you can walk in without a reservation from time to time.

The polite smile that says "it's fine" while the eyes say "it is absolutely not." Totally understandable. No one loves a near-close order. I even acknowledged it out loud--apologized, explained we weren't from the area, and that we were just trying to grab a quick bite because it was one of the few places still open. She said it was okay. Her face said otherwise. Fair enough. Here's where it turned around. The pizza came out hot, fresh, and legitimately impressive. Not "good for late night" good--just plain good. Every bite was fresh, the ingredients tasted clean, and the pizza clearly hadn't been rushed or phoned in despite the timing. Hunger probably helped, but even factoring that out, this was a standout. Honestly, I was kicking myself for not ordering an extra one to go before leaving the city. That's how good it was. We did try to get drinks, but were told the soda machine was down. The nozzles were off, so I'm guessing it was a cleaning/end-of-night thing. I won't ding them for it--though let's be real, tossing nozzles in sanitizer isn't exactly a marathon. Still, not a deal-breaker. Restaurant was clean, but of course, they were near closing. I tipped her a few bucks for staying late, and left genuinely satisfied. Bottom line: the food carried this experience completely. If you're visiting Philadelphia and need a reliable, fresh, late-night bite, &Pizza is absolutely worth the stop. Sometimes the places you expect the least end up delivering the most. I plan to 100000% return (and it'll probably be near closing time again, too)
