Very nice staff here. There was a fair amount of take away during our visit so they seem to be doing A-OK. A few parking spots are in front of the building and a couple more to the side. A menu board is posted over the order counter and two soft drink coolers to choose a bottled beverage from are next to the cashier. The menu offers a variety of sandwiches, salads and soups. There are a lot of sauces you can add to your sandwich if the menu doesn't specify what condiments are included. You can also make your sandwich a 'platter' if you want to add fries, onion rings and coleslaw to your sandwich. I ordered the roast beef and asked for horse radish sauce. There was a *lot* of sauce on this sandwich. So much so, that was all I could really taste so I'm not sure if I actually like their roast beef or not. I should have asked if I could get it 'on the side' I suppose. Live and learn. From what I could see under the sauce, the roast beef is cooked very rare. It was difficult to chew through and with all that sauce it made for a very messy meal. We ate in their dining room which is a small, pleasant space with lots of old photos of Worcester. The napkins available at the table are kind of useless. They smear the mess, they don't mop it up. I used a LOT of napkins trying to keep tidy while eating my sandwich. The fries were very good when hot. Crispy outside, fluffy inside. The coleslaw was almost without flavor. Salt and pepper are on the table. You're going to want those. Just watch that salt shaker, it comes out FAST! There is one restroom for all guests at the back, past the kitchen. It's clean and in good working condition. read more

This is literally one of the best places to have clam chowder. I don't know about any of the other food items expecting the chowder and a few sandwiches my husband has ordered in the past but the chowder- WOW. it's thick so we buy a whole pint or two and then go home and add a couple tablespoons of water but otherwise i could eat it as is. Way better than any chowder we've had in boston including the touristy/famous ones. Very very good. Picking up some beer at Greater Good and I heard this place had good subs, so I figured I'd give it a go. First of all ... getting here is a pain in the ass. I think its fair to say that "Wuh-stah" drivers are among the worst in the world and the most aggressive. When coming towards Park Ave. there is a section where you have only a few feet to cut across 5 lanes of busy traffic to get in the left turn lanes so you can U-Turn. This gauntlet of road rage alone gives me pause to attempt a trip here again. The shop is small and cute in a 1980's sort of way. Folks in MA like their subs, or 'grine-dahs' (grinders) as they say in Wuh-Stah. Lots of hockey stuff on the walls. There is a LOT on the menu to choose from. The entry area is not exactly ideal during covid as once you order, there isn't anywhere out of the way to stand as you wait. I called in my sub 10 minutes before pick up and still had to wait 5 minutes. It was pretty crowded around 1 pm. The Steak Bomb sub itself ... was bland and dry. It did not have much taste and the more salt and pepper I added, all I could taste was the bread. The steak was not juicy or greasy the way a good philly steak should be. It honestly was like eating attic insulation. The cardinal sin was that they put slices of American cheese on TOP of the sandwich and wrapped it. All that cheese stuck to the foil wrap. Any good Philly steak place puts the cheese in with the meat on the grill so it melts in with the meat. That would have solved the dryness problem and part of the blandness problem. (Actually seasoning the meat would also help.) The reason this place gets so much business is the subs are HUGE! Almost ridiculously so. There is only a Large sub and it is big. I'd def. not be able to eat a whole one on my own and I'm a big eater. Kind of a waste as, unlike an Italian sub, you can't reheat an already rubbery Philly Steak sandwich. A small size (half the large) would work better. However, Worcester is a XXL kind of city, so I am sure not too many people have issues polishing off these ridiculously overstuffed subs. The online prices were cheaper than the actual prices by a bit ... I feel like $11 for a sub is a bit on the pricey side for me. However seeing how huge the subs are, it would be hard to complain. I think I ordered wrong. The Philly Steak wasn't the way to go. I'll come back and try the Italian or the Super Roastbeef. They looked like they had soups and wings and some seafood as well. The prices here are sit-down restaurant sized in a sub shop. My food was really a 2 star affair ... however I am bumping up to 3 because this place is popular among locals and I probably should have stuck with the roast beef. read more

We tried a couple new grinders on our last visit, my husband got the Irish sandwich special and I got steak and they were just lame. There wasn't very much filling and they were lackluster. We've been here several times now and have ordered the Super beef, roast beef sandwich and turkey sub. My god, these portions are huge!! You can definitely share one sandwich between two people. There is so much roast beef, beef or turkey stuffed into the sandwich! The prices are great, most around $10-15 dollars or so and it's definitely a great value given how much you get. They also sell soups, baked goods, chips and soft drinks. There's very few parking in the lot but most people take out anyways so you won't really have a problem with parking. read more

I'll get to the point. The food was exceptional. The service friendly. There is a nice variety on the menu where there literally is something for everyone. We had roast beef my husband had the WPI and I had the Super Beef. Meat was cooked onsite and you can tell. The lady that helped us at the counter was very helpful and made suggestions. The parking was limited out front but do not let that deter you. There is a shopping center next to it with plenty of parking it is a 2 minute walk. I would definitely be a regular if I lived here. I'm not sure how I haven't reviewed them bc I've been going there for years. I came on Yelp to see if anyone else noticed a significant difference in the size of their subs recently. They've always been great. Quality has always been excellent, the subs have been huge and plentiful with whatever is inside. For $15-17 for a sub (one size for sub roll) it should be a generous size like it was. Now it's smaller than a subway foot long. Before the size change and leaving out an entire soup that is $5-7 i would have given them 4-4.5 stars. I hope they rectify this or change their pricing. Nothing spectacular but the lunch turned out to be awesome. The young lady at the register was terrific. I had been all queued up for a lobster roll when I saw a roast beef sandwich go by on a platter and my mind instantly changed. "I want that," I said, pointing to the sandwich. She asked, "Do you want what's good on it?" and I was in love. I let her lead and I ended up with horseradish sauce and blue cheese, adding some sliced tomato. The sandwich was a little drippy (no biggie) and the roast beef was perfect. Lean, rare, tasty. I had gotten the platter, so it also came with onion rings and fries. Both were great. Nice and crisp. I can go to New England Roast Beef everyday for 60 days and not have the same thing twice. Seriously, this place serves one great roast beef sandwich. While I am not a fan of restaurants that have a food item or a geographical area in their name. I was totally surprised by New England Roast Beef. This place was busy. There was always a line of 5 to 7 people. Menu HUGE. I mean the combination of items with roast beef was to much to handle. I wanted everything. Ordered a roast beef with horseradish, lettuce, tomato, onion on a hero bread. Like their menu huge hero. It was absolutely delicious. Wife had something else on a dark bread that also was delicious. We could only eat half. After a few more hours of driving. The other half was finished with a smile. There is a parking lot out front. It is small and always full; just wait a couple of minutes because someone will leave shortly. Like I said; busy. As you walk in their is a counter with a menu board above with all types of roast beef base sandwiches. I did not know what to order. I just picked one and enjoyed. Friendly staff. Clean. Probably the best place to go for sandwiches in Worcester! I'm surprised they offer seafood choices along with their regular menu too. There's certain things you would usually only find at a beach restaurant that they have here, such as fried shrimp, fish and chips, and even lobster rolls. I ordered the lobster roll and it was delicious! It tasted super fresh and the roll had a nice soft crunch to it, all for $12.99 (their current market price). My brother came with me and ordered The Elm Park Sandwich, and it was huge and packed full of meat. We both added the platter for an additional $4 each which included fries, onion rings, and coleslaw. The beer-battered fries are amazing!!!
