Been coming here since 1976 as a 6 year old. Dont live here anymore so every year or two when in town we have to go. Pu pu platter is great. Fried shrimp and chicken is crisp. Wings are out of this world and the egg rolls are special. The ribs are next level awsome, would give anything to know what the wing and rib marinades are. The food is no where near what it used to be years ago. Everything i order something, it's hit or miss, in quality. They're not consistent in the quality of their food. I've ordered many times thinking I'd get the same quality, but sadly it was not. I've had the teriyaki beef sticks, that were like chewing on a rubber tire, house fried rice with little to know beef, chicken, or shrimp, as well as the veggies in it. It was dry, and on the black side. Bought a couple orders for a family gathering, and people tried one bite and never touched it again. It was embarrassing. I've gotten big orders only to find out they left out an item. They used to be very good until the cook they had retired or passed away. Now they don't seem to care about quality, or consistency. I do not recommend. Very low quality food. They've lost their passion for making quality foods. Hire a cook who is passionate about making quality food. Clearly, you've given up on quality, and keeping it consistent. Never again will I order from the Wok. read more

When we went back to get the right order she poked her bony finger at us and blamed us instead of apologizing for her mistake. I consider myself a foodie. My boyfriend brought me the Buddhist Vegetable dish, steamed with no sauce because he knows my eating regimen. I loved it, so I was all for us going in person to dine at the Wok yesterday for dinner. To my surprise, it was not what I had expected. The environment seemed bland to me, but I figured that should be nothing as I ordered the Buddhist Vegetable dish, steamed with no sauce (the way my boyfriend had gotten it for me). The dining area had a family or three dining in the dining area. It was not busy in the least. We waited for our noodles, water and tea. I expected the water and tea to come out quickly, but I was wrong. My dish arrived. Not only did it not taste as I remembered it, but it also had sauce in it after I had said no sauce. I tried not to make a big deal and ate my food. The waitress never came back to our table. My boyfriend waited impatiently to ask for more water, but the waitress never returned. I had to give him some of my water. We then waited to get the check. The food was packed, but no heck was given to us. At this point, I was impatient. We walked up to the cashier (who was our waitress) and paid for our meal. Seeing that this was my first time there, and the service/food displeased me, I refused to leave a tip. Should have listened! Looking for a quick bite in the area, something to grab and go but didn't want gas station food. Found this place and figured finger food appetizers would be just the ticket. Looking at the reviews they were decidedly negative. But figured how bad can you screw up chicken fingers. Well, bad. As the negative reviews didn't dissuade me the musty smell when entering the restaurant should have been a clue and a wake-up call. But got my takeout and started driving. Upon the first bite noticed a sour tinge. Thought maybe it was just THAT chicken finger so tried another but still same. Separated the batter from the chicken trying both to determine if maybe it was something in the batter. But it was definitely the chicken. Tried another but still same - the chicken tasted sour, like it had been brined in buttermilk or yogurt. Inedible. Called the restaurant to let them know that their chicken possibly could be bad and that they should check it out. DID NOT ASK FOR A REFUND OR ANYTHING. The woman said I had to bring my order back for them to do anything, that without the order there was nothing they could do. I explained that I was about half an hour away but all she KEPT REPEATING was that I had to bring my order back. I kept telling her that I was NOT asking for a refund - or even a replacement - but I just wanted to let her know so they could check. And again, she said I would have to bring MY order back saying that all orders are cooked to order. I said that there must be other chicken fingers in the restaurant that she could have cooked so she could check it herself. Again, I had to bring my order back. I said that if I was standing right in front of her and ordered chicken fingers that she couldn't have an order made up, so she could try? Her response? HUNG UP! Yep, she hung up on me. This 'behavior' has been noted in other reviews. Will never go back. Some of these hole-in-the-wall places - Chinese or otherwise - can be good. Being a biker I have had my share of road food. This place was bad. And because of how this was handled this place does not even deserve a second/another chance. Again, I was not asking for a refund or even a replacement. I was merely trying to alert them of a potential/possible health problem. All they had to say was 'Thank you. We will look into it.' read more

I drove 80 miles round trip, as I heard they made their own egg rolls in house, low and below they do, what a nice treat. Is there a difference sure as shootin there sure is as far as I am concerned but there is much more here than meets the American Chinese Food jaded eye. There are not to many authentic Cantonese restaurants left in suburban America you have to travel to major metropolitan cities like Boston or New York as the American Chinese restaurant local landscape is dominated by the Fujianese. Happily the Wok is a rare stand out harkening back to a by gone era preparing all your old style favorite Cantonese dishes. I have dined there many times over the years well before my Yelping days and my latest experience was exactly the same as my previous ones. The Wok owners have been at it for 40 years and have managed to not only survive but thrive. You won't find an Asian Fusian menu here as they stick pretty much to their roots and I am so happy they have. Good job Wok, you are much appreciated. read more

However, if you eat the boneless ribs, be prepared to stock up on toilet paper, and be sure to charge up your iPad, because you're going to need both for a few hours. Current ownership should be ashamed of themselves. At one time this place made the best Chinese food in the Valley and you gladly paid the premium cost for premium food. The premium prices stayed, the premium food left. The alcoholic drinks are watered down and often they refill top shelf liquor with bottom shelf product. Let me start out by saying, my four year old and I were borderline hangry when we came here. We were on our way to my cousins school play, and chose this place, simply because we couldn't stand to drive any longer whilst searching for a place to stop and eat. The outside is drab. There were two other seated groups and one person waiting for their take out order. As soon as she walked away, literally not even one minute later, she returned with crispy noodles, dipping sauce, tea, and waters. She returned less than five minutes later, to check in to see if we were ready to order, we were. We ordered to lunch combo (1$ was added because it was dinner) for 8.95, which included chicken fingers, boneless spareribs, crab rangoons, and pork fried rice. We also requested fried dumplings, which cost $6.95 for 6 dumplings. She brought the sauce for dumplings out about 30 seconds after walking away. Maybe five minutes later, the chef came out with our food. I was impressed... until I started eating. I picked up the rangoon only to notice it was so paper thin I could see sunlight though it. They were AWFUL. The chicken fingers tasted like dirty grease, the rice had huge pieces of raw (or incredibly undercooked) onion in it. Don't even get me started on the dumplings. Firstly, they were literally deep fried. Secondly, where is the f&$@!?g filling? There was hardly nothing in it. Starting to notice the pattern? These guys suck. The food blows. Doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside for that matter), but the food was really fresh - veggies were crisp, food was appropirately salted (not like your traditional take-out chinese garbage). I was very pleasantly surprised. This place loses a star because it's just dingy. It's been open for 30 something years, and I don't think anything's been updated in that time. Ordered take out on a Tuesday evening. It was the absolute worst Chinese food I had ever had. The General Tso chicken didn't last right at all. The taste was so bad I wondered if it was bad. My wife said the fried dumplings were horrible too. The pork fried rice not good either and had a greyish look to it. We really should have brought all this food back and got a refund. I have been going to the Wok since the 80's. I currently live in Europe but whenever I visit home, it is one of my first stops. Not only is the food delicious (the pan fried dumplings, boneless spare ribs and lo mein are a must) but the ambience , with dark wood paneling, Chinese lanterns, dragons and animals from the Chinese zodiac, is reminiscent of a bygone era of Cantonese-Chinese American restaurants. The staff and owners are always kind and enjoy chatting with patrons. read more

This is good, basic, old school Chinese food. Low prices, big portions, not fancy. I love that you can get a lunch combo as a dinner for a little extra in the evening hours. I'm especially fond of the chow mein. Gloppy goodness. And the egg foo yung with its classic gravy. Oh and pork fried rice, the dark brown kind, not that pale wimpy stuff in fashion now. Good food, we love the pu-pu platter, They have terrific crab rangoon and egg rolls. Their house fried rice is also great, huge portions! We tend to stick with what we know, the chicken and chinese vegetables is yummy too! If your ordering from the bar they have a good beer selection, they are sometimes hit or miss on the cocktails they make, maybe it depends on the bartender. Went with a friend back in Jan who was a friend of the restaurant owner's family, and it was great. Went last night, there was one table in the dining room besides us while their small bar was "full." Looked at the menu, decided what we wanted, I would've expected our waters and wontons at the table at this point and our drink orders in. A waitress walked by and said hi then proceeded to bus the table behind us with an empty dining room! At that point, I said if a table is going to get bussed before we get service in an empty restaurant, we will be leaving. And we did, without being stopped by the staff. Dirty, even the windows have not been washed in ages. Staff was friendly and nice. Food was horrible and I was unable to eat it. Egg roll burnt. Rice dry and the rest looked so bad I turned away from it. I'm sorry. I know it has been there for years and probably has a nice following but this was my first time eating there and I was frankly disgusted. The staff smokes right outside the door which is offensive to non smokers. The fried won ton and plum sauce was sitting out on the tables before the customers arrived. How did I know how long and if any flies got on it. They need a serious overhaul with expert advice from the health department. read more
