The salad bar was amazing we had two different types of salads, grilled and fried chicken to put on top and all the fixings from walnuts to strawberries to eggs!! The homemade dressings were amazing my favorite was a mix of honey mustard and a Asian lime so yummy!! There was also a verity of soups from tomato to chicken noodle even chili. Wow such a terrible experience. I ordered my lunch on Friday, May 20, 2022 from door Dash I ordered the Backyard BBQ salad. The order was delivered promptly there is no problem with that but the quality of the salad is where my problem lies. The cucumbers were not fresh they were opaque in color. The potato salad on top was not fresh and smelled like fish and tasted even worse. The chicken was sub par and It was dry and tasteless absolutely disgusting. I wrote this information on DoorDash but to no avail no one has called me back this morning the next day contacted the salad shop in New Haven and was told that someone will get back to me it has been two hours since. No phone call. I guess they do not care about their customers. Never again! I felt sick to my stomach with a terrible headache for the rest of the day. Do not order lunch from here. I've come here two times and have had solid experiences. I loved the sweetness of the Beet Haven, and Summetime was refreshing. They're great about quantity of greens. However, the greens on my Summetime had quite a few soggy leaves, which can really ruin the awesomeness of a salad. Also, while quick, the people working here seem sad. There was minimal eye contact, and I could barely hear what they were saying when I ordered. Sometimes it's the little things that can make or break an experience, even if it's a brief encounter. I ordered a Chipotle BBQ Chicken sandwich today and was less than impressed to say the least. With my very first bite, I had an entire bay leaf sticking out of my mouth. While these leaves are used for flavoring, I don't want it on my sandwich. Mistakes happen yes, and it won't kill me. But the real kicker was the lack of flavor the sandwich had and my missing toppings! The menu promises red onions and crispy onions while all I had was soggy (barely toasted) white bread and bland shredded chicken. When I returned to the restaurant, the staff scoffed and told me "its okay" as if they know my tastebuds better than I do. I've gotten salads delivered from here at least ten times now via UberEats and I've found it to be the best local option, by far, to design your own salads. The options are plentiful- vegetables, as well as proteins, toppings, and dressings. The ingredients are very fresh and the salads are huge. It's a great place for salad and I always do the "create your own" because you get exactly what you want. It's my go to place for a healthy lunch and awesome for vegetarian and vegans. They have a small selection of drinks and chips too. I so wish they had pasta salad or coleslaw, a side dish besides chips. If you've been to other speciality salad chains, Salad Shop is no different (although they also offer wraps and smoothies). You pick an item off the menu, or if you create your own, add some toppings, add a dressing, decide if you want a (rather generous) piece of bread, and you're soon off on your way to wherever you desire. The pros of Salad Shop are that the service is efficient (although not as quick as salad chains in large cities), the portions are huge, and prices are relatively fair. However, the ingredients are rather... boring, consisting of chopped raw broccoli, shredded kale, and unseasoned, dry chicken. The food is already really fresh, but with some more ingenuity--such as throwing in blanched broccoli or offering "premium" seasoned toppings, Salad Shop has the potential to go from "just alright" to rather delicious, offering a nice contrast in a city famous for pizza. read more

My husband and I love these salads. Very fresh, the service is fast. My only complaint is there is a lot of cross contact, people should be using tongs for each item...not just putting gloves on and going from container to container. You never know what someone is allergic to and if you keep touching al the other items then they have all become contaminated.
