I wish I would've looked at the reviews before I went to this place. I ordered a sandwich off the menu on a spinach wrap and ended up spending $15 instead of $9.50, which is what the sign said. The person who made my sandwich couldn't even understand me at all. It seems very disorganized and I walked away very unhappy with what I got. read more

I've only used delivery so can't speak to the location/staff/atmosphere. Food is okay however my recent lunch order of a smoked turkey avocado BLT was disappointing as it only had one slice of turkey on it. It was more like an avocado BLT with turkey as a topping. I most likely wouldn't do delivery again as I imagine if i were in the physical store my sandwich would have been made better. I'm hesitant to try them again even though the extensive menu has some interesting options. read more

Today we had New Haven Salad Shop cater our lunch with a salad bar and a variety of soups. The salad bar was amazing we had two different types of salads, grilled and fried chicken to put on top and all the fixings from walnuts to strawberries to eggs!! The homemade dressings were amazing my favorite was a mix of honey mustard and a Asian lime so yummy!! There was also a verity of soups from tomato to chicken noodle even chili. I unfortunately will not be going back. The breaded chicken was not fresh but rather frozen. The dressings are not made in-house. I also prefer my salad chopped. They don't offer that. The New Haven Salad Shop is a staple so I've frequented here quite a few times. I usually get spinach as my base, with mostly all the toppings and no protein (besides eggs). The dressings are my only issue as I don't care for any of them so I often eat my salads dry. The portion is relatively decent and the staff is usually pleasant. Parking on the street. Small setting for 12 people with 2 people per table. The display of veggies looks bright and fresh. The host was attentive. I ordered the Caesar chicken wrap, tropical kale smoothie and broccoli cheddar. Everything good. However, I could have had more chicken and less croutons. Fresh and crispy lettuce coupled with an overflow of toppings made for a delicious salad! The worker cut the avocado right in front of us, which proved now fresh the food was. There are quite a variety of premade salad choices, but you can also craft your own salad, or edit any of the premade choices. Great selection of dressings as well. Wow such a terrible experience. I ordered my lunch on Friday, May 20, 2022 from door Dash I ordered the Backyard BBQ salad. The order was delivered promptly there is no problem with that but the quality of the salad is where my problem lies. The cucumbers were not fresh they were opaque in color. The potato salad on top was not fresh and smelled like fish and tasted even worse. The chicken was sub par and It was dry and tasteless absolutely disgusting. I wrote this information on DoorDash but to no avail no one has called me back this morning the next day contacted the salad shop in New Haven and was told that someone will get back to me it has been two hours since. No phone call. I guess they do not care about their customers. Never again! I felt sick to my stomach with a terrible headache for the rest of the day. Do not order lunch from here. This place right here has the best tasting salads I've ever had! I've ordered twice now and the first one was one of their signature salads and it was tasty, but I have to say I really enjoyed a customized one so much more! They can add warm brussel sprouts and they have many different options for greens, cheeses and dressings! My salad lasted me two days and was loaded with protein! So so fresh! I also ordered the chicken and wild rice soup - the best soup I've had in this New Haven area!!! This was a bit of a good find. My usual food truck was not there so I walked past this place. It's not quite as wide a selected as say chopt but they made big portioned salad with lots of protein in them. I had the blue buffalo and it was perfect. Service was fairly quick and price was in line for the area. Will keep in mind next time I'm in the area. read more

I've come here two times and have had solid experiences. I loved the sweetness of the Beet Haven, and Summetime was refreshing. They're great about quantity of greens. However, the greens on my Summetime had quite a few soggy leaves, which can really ruin the awesomeness of a salad. Also, while quick, the people working here seem sad. There was minimal eye contact, and I could barely hear what they were saying when I ordered. Sometimes it's the little things that can make or break an experience, even if it's a brief encounter. Also, I wish they had a loyalty system of some sort. Many salad shops do. read more

I was disappointed that they gave so little dressing for such a large salad. The ratio was clearly off and therefore my salad lacked flavor. Plus it was an additional $2 to add flavorless grilled chicken that had a chalky taste to it. Disappointing for the price. read more

I ordered a Chipotle BBQ Chicken sandwich today and was less than impressed to say the least. With my very first bite, I had an entire bay leaf sticking out of my mouth. While these leaves are used for flavoring, I don't want it on my sandwich. Mistakes happen yes, and it won't kill me. But the real kicker was the lack of flavor the sandwich had and my missing toppings! The menu promises red onions and crispy onions while all I had was soggy (barely toasted) white bread and bland shredded chicken. When I returned to the restaurant, the staff scoffed and told me "its okay" as if they know my tastebuds better than I do. When finally processing my refund, my tip wasn't returned, go figure. read more

Very plain and simple place to make your own salad. Nothing special about it, nothing that draws me to it or makes me crave the food there. The items are fresh and clean, and the shop is clean as well. I made my own salad, and it came out to close to $11 with a honey mustard sauce that wasn't sweet. I became bored with the meal very quickly. I think Cafe Romeo provides better tasting salads (better combination of items and things like figs and goat cheese that are not at the Salad Shop). read more

I stopped there to pick up a salad to eat on the train to NYC. I ordered a custom salad with barbecued grilled chicken on top and goddess dressing on the side. The chicken was not barbecued, it was little cubes of cooked chicken drenched in a spicy barbecue sauce. The whole salad was covered in the sauce. I ate a few bites and ended up throwing the unappetizing mess in the trash. I won't be back. What a ruin of what might have been a decent salad. read more

I've gotten salads delivered from here at least ten times now via UberEats and I've found it to be the best local option, by far, to design your own salads. The options are plentiful- vegetables, as well as proteins, toppings, and dressings. The ingredients are very fresh and the salads are huge. It's not cheap, but it's well worth the money for what you get. I can't speak to the locatIon itself but for delivery, it's high on my rotation. Love these salads. read more

It's a great place for salad and I always do the "create your own" because you get exactly what you want. It's my go to place for a healthy lunch and awesome for vegetarian and vegans. They have a small selection of drinks and chips too. I so wish they had pasta salad or coleslaw, a side dish besides chips. You can also get a punch card and get a free salad when you buy from them 10 times. It's a little expensive though. If it was a buck or two cheaper and had more sides, it would get a perfect score. read more

If you've been to other speciality salad chains, Salad Shop is no different (although they also offer wraps and smoothies). You pick an item off the menu, or if you create your own, add some toppings, add a dressing, decide if you want a (rather generous) piece of bread, and you're soon off on your way to wherever you desire. The pros of Salad Shop are that the service is efficient (although not as quick as salad chains in large cities), the portions are huge, and prices are relatively fair. However, the ingredients are rather... boring, consisting of chopped raw broccoli, shredded kale, and unseasoned, dry chicken. The food is already really fresh, but with some more ingenuity--such as throwing in blanched broccoli or offering "premium" seasoned toppings, Salad Shop has the potential to go from "just alright" to rather delicious, offering a nice contrast in a city famous for pizza. read more

But even they were waiting just as long. It's a bit chaotic. Different people working on different orders, them chopping the meat, mixing in the bowl before putting it in the to-go bowl. I'm not well versed in restaurant operations. But what I'd do is make the prep assembly line style. One person doing grains and veggies, one person adding sauces and mixing bowls, one person doing register, & one person doing drive through and mobile orders. I don't know how new this place is so they may be ironing out their flow but that does needs to be tightened. Also be mindful you are only allowed 4 free toppings& after that it's an add on.
