Stopped by for the BOGO college deals. Quick service and great drinks. The staff was able to accommodate a rush of customers efficiently. Would definitely recommend stopping by.

Tropical Smoothie is my go-to spot for quick pick-up smoothies. They're usually located in convenient areas. If you don't have the app, you're missing out - it's a must for earning points towards free items and getting notifications on their latest deals. The staff at this location are consistently friendly, and the service is always quick. Although the space is on the smaller side and can get busy during peak times, there's still a nice vibe, especially when you manage to have it to yourself. I have been meaning to stop by here whenever I am in the area and just wasn't able to. I have seen a few YTCC doing mukbang on Tropical Smoothie in their areas as well. Finally I stopped in at this location on Friday 8:12:22 evening and was greeted by Annetta very sweet she walked me through it since I haven't been in a long time. I did the Smoothie Combo Avocado Grilled Cheese, Kale Apple as my side and Mango Berry Cosmo wow everything was delicious and on point. Definitely recommend this combo, location and kudos to the staff that was there they know who the team was all very nice. The young man I spoke to who made my smoothie down to the person prepared my sandwich and the Manager I see you Thanks all for the great return experience

I've stopped into the Tropical Smoothie Cafe several times in the past few months. I can basically sum this place up as, "Healthy Fast Food". But can you really consider it "healthy" ? I dunno, I've seen an employee open up a huge can of DOLE pineapples to be used in the smoothies, I also know that a lot of the stuff comes into the store prepacked, so it's not as fresh as it could be. For example, yesterday I ordered a Mediterranean salad. It was various types of rice on top of a bed of spinach with bits of zucchini, red peppers, and pieces of avocado on top. Because the ingredients are shipped to the store prepackaged, the vegetables ended up being a bit wilted and mushy. Definitely not fresh. The flatbreads are decent, the smoothies are ok also. I've tried the Strawberry Limeade and the Immune Booster so far. At $5.99 a piece, they are expensive. But Tropical Cafe offers coupons every time you are in, so often you'll see a smoothie for $1.99 (which is much more reasonable). In general, prices are a bit on the high side for what you receive. The place is very popular with the police and firefighters, so parking can be an issue at times (it's street parking).

Utterly the best smoothie spot to go to in Connecticut, the service and atmosphere is incredible. They have a good menu! And everything is completely customizable.

Smoothies are suppose to be sweet but it was the blandest smoothie ever. How else should I call it? "Guacamole?"I always order avocado smoothie but this place had let me down. It was pretty pricy too(seven dollars). The smoothie's cup was scraped and as time pass on, it was dripping on the floor. This place is really a disappointment.

I've been going this Tropical Smoothie Cafe for over a year now and I'm continually both pleased and disappointed. The Good: This specific Tropical Smoothie Cafe is located 3 minutes walking distance from Payne Whitney Gymnasium and is walking distance from most places on the Yale campus making it very accessible and a great post-workout spot to get a protein smoothie. The smoothies are the same quality as other locations in the country, very large, often very sweet (you can ask for Splenda instead!), and a bit overpriced (7$). My two favorites are the Peanut Paradise and the Triple Berry Oat. The food is very overpriced (5$ for a banana peanut butter wrap) but if you're a bit desperate in the morning or are craving something salty to balance out the sweet smoothie, they're not a bad option. I've enjoyed the pesto chicken wrap a few times. Also worth noting: this location is very small with mostly individual bar stool type seating and only 3 small tables. The Bad: The main problem I've experienced with this specific location is the staff. I always feel as if every worker is a trainee as they rarely seem to understand their own specials and deals such as the discount for buying the reusable cup or holiday deals. I've been mischarged at least 3 times yet every time I somehow feel that it's my fault for trying to use a deal or special. My least favorite memory with this location was when I tried grabbing a smoothie after a night at the gym last year. I called when the location was 20 minutes away from closing to confirm that they would stay open for the next 10 minutes yet when I arrived with 10 minutes to go, one worker had locked the door and then when she came to see what I wanted hesitated opening the door and asked me "if I was some kind of murderer of something" before telling me that they were closed. I was super confused and and left with a bad taste in my mouth. Despite some of the poor interactions I've had with the staff at this location, Trop Smoothie is a national chain and I still enjoy their smoothies and will continue to keep coming back. Would definitely recommend downloading the app "Snackpass" which allows you to get a 99cent smoothie the first time you use it!

If you enjoy the flavors of Indian food as well as one of those quick service, hot chicken restaurants you probably would enjoy Hot Murga. The chicken sandwich comes in five spice levels from no heat to super hot. I got the standard hot, and it has some kick, but it wasn't overpowering. Then again I enjoy spicy food. I also ordered their spiced mac & cheese. Again, not spicy at all, but flavorful. Also a good portion as I have leftovers for later. I had my food delivered, but this establishment is close to the Yale campus and street parking can be a bit tricky on Howe St. and around Broadway. I've been inside of the space once when it was a different restaurant some years ago, it's not a large space, but I'm pretty sure comfortable if you decided to dine in. If you ever find yourselves at a crossroad between wanting Chick-fil-A and Indian food, this would be a great alternative.

I'm a big bagel stickler and having just arrived from NYC, I thought I've seen it all. My best friend suggested Olmo, claiming that their bagel is the best she's ever had. In truth, I didn't believe her, but i walk away from this experience as an Olmo diehard fan. Their bagels are absolutely brilliant. Tens, elevens even, across the board. I've truly never had anything like it. Their flavors are unique with a Zaatar and Cacio bagel; candidly, I was too much of a purist to try them this time around and opted for the safe yet mildly experimental Rosemary bagel. Stop everything you're doing. Book the flight. Try this. Its crust is crackly with a bubbly top, almost akin to that of high quality sourdoughs, yet the interior is plush with a quintessentially dense bagel crumb. God, there's no limit to the amount of praises I can sing about this. The flavors with the okonomiyaki are well balanced also with the sweet tangy bbq contrasting the luscious, creamy egg omelette. It's really REALLY hard to choose a favorite though as I tried their lox, okonomiyaki, white fish, and cinnamon raisin shmear, and all of them were excellent in their own right. The workers are also incredibly kind and accommodating, working fast to complete every order efficiently. Olmo's so good I had four of their bagels within a 24 hour period. Does it really get any better than this?

This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot.
