Steam table and 2022 menu from front door
    Michael B.

Woo hoo! Let's continue my little trip of off-the-radar Chinese spots in the IE! Today's restaurant: New Hong Kong Express. This was a place we found while visiting Vicky's just across the parking lot. This place doesn't have any big, flashy signs or large billboards so that's usually a good sign. This review is LONG so there is a TL;DR at the bottom. Upon walking in we noticed the restaurant is very small. That's not a bad thing, but I certainly wouldn't want to dine in here. The menu is a typical takeout menu. Two item, three item and then the sides and extras. The menu gets confusing when you start to look at the prices. A two item costs 9.98, and then a three item jumps UP TO 13.99 SOMEHOW. You can't tell me that ONE item, whether it be mixed veggies or black pepper chicken (or any of the other 3 items on their very limited steam table) could run up the price by 3 dollars. Also there's no one item meal on the menu, this will play in later. I ordered a two item. I got half and half with broccoli beef and mixed veggies despite the broccoli beef truly looking like it had been sitting out for some time. My fiancée asked for a one item with half and half as well as broccoli beef. Unfortunately there wasn't enough broccoli beef to fill one item, so she just shovels in some of the mixed veggies. Keep in mind this was around 7:10. They don't close until 8. There was still another party in the restaurant, and they didn't even offer to make more broccoli beef. We wouldn't have minded waiting. Instead she filled the remaining space with veggies and figured that was enough. She then asked if we would like some cream cheese wontons that were just set out and we said yes. No one item on the menu, but if a 2 item is 9.98 and you add 4 dollars as we previously figured for one item, a one item plate should have only cost around 5.99, right? We were rang up for $26.91. Break that down, that's $6+$10 (I'm rounding up) plus??? How convenient, nowhere here is there a price for these wontons. With these prices, that would make the wontons come out to around $9 for 5 pieces (keep in mind CA sales tax to reach that final total). Even if we assume a one item is the same as a two item, that's still a bit too much for all that food, especially for charging a one item as a two. Please heed the warning of the other reviews mentioning overcharging. The food was not great. Our broccoli beef tasted as sad as it looked. The broccoli was pretty stale, but the beef was actually pretty tender despite the dryness. The flavor wasn't anything I cared for. The mixed veggies weren't anything special either. The rice was one of the biggest disappointments. Very dry and lacking flavor. The chow mein was average. To sum it up we won't be back. From the poor food and the shadiness of overcharging, this is a business I just can't find myself wanting to support. There are several other reviews mentioning overcharging, and I would have to confirm those as of our Feb. 2022 visit. As for the reviews saying this is the best around, I urge you to get out of your comfort zone more. TL;DR - Food wasn't the best. Menu is a little off with pricing, and we were definitely overcharged for our food. I won't be back.

As I have mentioned in my previous reviews that I love supporting local businesses. This business and their owners are so nice and kind. The owner lady is Vietnamese and they have a non-traditional American Chinese Food restaurant. It serves fresh and vibrant dishes. You know the best part is their customer service. And if you are a vegan or a vegetarian you are covered as they serve a lot of Tofu dishes which are not even on the Menu. You have to actually ask her and she will tell you whether they can make the dish with Tofu or not. The prices are decent but the quantity is crazy. With 1 order of anything you can feed atleast 2.5 hungry folks. Again visit local businesses and support them in these crazy times. If you are in the area give them a visit, trust me you will not regret.

Really good food!!! The only reason why I gave it 4 stars it's because they didn't have many options available, but I understand they probably don't want to waste food or it being sitting out for too long. They probably make it fresh if you order ahead of time. First time eating here but not the last! Starving and Craving Chinese food and this was the nearest spot. The lady in the front desk was very friendly, very nice! Excellent service. Everything had a good taste, not too overwhelming of oil either. Generous portions. My favorite was the blackened chicken, it has really great flavor. I only got it because she suggested it. It was really good. The egg rolls are not too greasy, they are nice and crispy. And I loveeeeeeed the cream cheese wontons! They were nice thin and crispy. Satisfied the craving. Will come back when craving Chinese food again.

I accidentally found myself ordering shrimp chow mein. So far so tasty.

I was pleasantly surprised to eat lunch here a short while ago. At opening trey recommended I try their shrimp chow mein so I obliged and was not let down by crunchy shrimp and nice nice noodles. I'll have to try one of their drinks next time.

This is a place I have been coming to for years. It's had a few name changes over the years but the people seem to be the same. The woman at the front is very friendly and talkative. This place is a classic Chinese fast food. In my experiences over the years, it's always been very very good and consistent. The portions are so generous! I would highly recommend the wonton soup. It takes a bit because they make it fresh. I always call it in about 15 minutes before hand. It's very fresh and loaded with veggies, shrimp and wontons. I would also recommend the fried cream cheese wontons. They are some of my favorite! Everything is good here. They now serve pho as well. They seem to always be adding new items to their menu. Give this place a shot and support this small family business.

Ooooh weee!! The famous spicy shrimp. So flavorful!

Everything was really good. It was refreshing to find a place this close to home that actually hit the spot--even my parents thought it was good, which says a lot. We usually end up driving out to Rowland Heights for Chinese food, so having something like this down the street in Corona is nice. The pan fried shao mai was probably the surprise favorite for me since I've never had it prepared that way before. The xiao long bao wrapper was a little thicker than what I'm used to, but it was still good. Honestly, nothing we ordered disappointed. Food came out pretty quickly too, so even though there's usually a line, it moves faster than you'd expect.

This small whole in the wall Chinese food joint is very, very, very different then most others with a hot food bar at the front of the restaurant where you can pick what you want and be on your way super quick or a list of things you can order and have served once they make it. Now, what I came for was the Orange Chicken Fries and that is exactly what I ordered, as well as a small order of teriyaki chicken to sample on the side. Let's start small with the teriyaki chicken and say it was super good and probably some of the best I've had in years. The meat was juicy and the flavour was top notch. The main event? Them orange chicken fries! I can't even begin to explain just how good this meal was. The orange chicken itself consisted of large cut up chunks on top of a bed of delicious french fries with some of the tastiest orange chicken sauce I've ever had, so what happens when it's all mixed together? THE PERFECT MEAL! thats what. Overall, This place may be far outside of Los Angeles, but I know i'll be hitting this up every few months thats for sure. I realized after the fact that I had actually been here a couple years back, but luckily, it's worthy of its positive reviews. We ordered a pretty solid spread: pad Thai, chicken satay, a Panang pork curry, and another noodle dish that ended up being really tasty. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. No real misses in the group, which is always a win when you're ordering family-style and everyone is picking off everyone else's plates like civilized vultures. The chicken satay was a nice starter, the pad Thai was dependable and well-balanced, and the curry had good flavor. I do think it's a little odd when rice doesn't automatically come with curry, especially when there isn't really a lunch special price going on. Not the end of the world, but when you order curry, rice feels like it should be part of the team, not a free agent with a separate contract. Service was good and the food came out pretty quickly. Atmosphere-wise, it's more fast-casual than date-night destination. Clean and functional, but not a ton of ambiance. Prices are maybe a touch on the higher side for the overall setup, but the food quality helps justify it. Would I drive from OC just for this? Probably not, since we have some strong Thai options closer to home. But if you're in the Eastvale area and want a reliable Thai spot with good food and friendly service, Little Buddha Kitchen is definitely worth checking out.

Today's lunch turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. Almost our next-door neighbor, Eastvale…read morehas grown quite rapidly in the past decade. This city has developed into a very respectable, well planned bedroom community and offers many options for dining out. Unfortunately, most are big chain restaurants. Finding a really delicious, authentic, family-run Chinese cafe was not something I had anticipated, but here it is! This is in a small storefront location. They have been in business for nearly 8 years. Looking at it from the aspect of a Yelp average star rating, I had not been that impressed, but then, looking at their most recent reviews and prolific menu, I had to rethink my first impressions. The non-cookie cutter menu and very extensive offerings gave me clues. I decided a visit would help answer questions on how such a tiny place could support such a huge menu. We settled on 3 dishes. It was really hard with so many options. Pork Feet with Pickled Pepper, a non-conventional dish, turned out to be fabulous with its spicy jalapeños, orange peppers, fresh ginger, and garlic. Any Filipino, which coincidently includes my husband, knows that pigs' feet can be a real delicacy when done right. Expect a lot of bone (of course), but the tendon and meat were soft and brimming with flavor. I usually resist eating anything with hot peppers, but the spicy heat disappeared fairly quickly and left only the sensational taste of the other mouth-watering aromatics. This was a very oily dish, but that is also what made the sauce so darn good. Fish Filet with Black Bean Sauce. Rather than order a full order a la carte, I went with a lunch portion, aka Lunch #16. Lunch includes a small cup of soup (today's was a delicious, thickened egg flower soup with corn), a vegetable-filled eggroll, and cup of steamed rice. I loved the corn soup and did not expect the crispy eggroll to be as good as it actually was. Eggroll is usually a poorly executed, space holder on mediocre, fast food lunch plates. This one was freshly cooked and really good. The entree, tender, unbattered chunks of white fish, was nicely prepared with bell pepper, onion, garlic, and fermented black bean. It made me very happy. Chow Fun with Beef. Delicious! The thinly sliced beef was very tender, and had that delicate, smokey wok hay flavor I love. I would not hesitate to recommend it. If I had one wish, it would be for them to use less oil in their cooking. The flavors were delicious but too rich. I'm sure they could accommodate my preference and still have a dish with a great outcome. And to sort of answer my question about how they handle such an extensive menu, the kitchen was commandeered by a single, hard working chef this particular day. I am in awe. I have no qualms about returning. This is a great alternative to driving into LA and Orange County to find great, non-Americanized Chinese food. Just don't come between 3 and 4 pm, because they give themselves a lunch break. FYI, I asked before we left if they stay open for the holidays, like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. The server said yes. I am excitedly bookmarking this place for the future and hoping this is accurate.
