New Horizon is the worst moving company ever. I will not be nice in what I have to say. I was bamboozled in price. They charge for distance to the door. They do not mention this during initial talks. The guy I talked to was John, whennhe wasn't available another guy who said he was John's boss would answer the phone very rude, after they picked up my furniture I could not reach anyone. Finally this guy picks up the phone and I asked " Can you give me an estimate of when my furniture will arrive?" He said Fuck you man, Your furniture is supposed to be delivered to Sacramento, what if I make it so you will never see your shit?" I said what did I do wrong? I only wanted to know about my stuff" He hung up on me and I called the transportation department. The lady was really nice. She heard me out and said they would then send me paperwork. I think she listened to me but had no substance or input that could help my situation. Writing letters to go with the other thousands of letters sent by others, just to stack up in a corner in a office. She did not speak of anyone calling or talking to this company. I fill everyone that sends or has a complaint falls on death ears. I think anyone that is moving should use Pods/ Packrat or other companies where you load it yourself and where there are ko hidden fees. No payment for people having to walk or drivers lying about not being able to fit down your street so they charge you thousands of dollars more to mov your stuff to a smaller truck. These things need to be in the front of the conversation not hidden on the bottom of the 3rd page, in small writing not meant for you to understand. All of these companies should be disbanded. Or there should be standard contracts that are created by the government. Not by these Crooks. If you move your stuff yourself you would have less broken things. The 3 moving men were great. The office manager AMAL is condescending, omits details to say the least, and acts impatient if you dare to ask questions. Original quote of 1250 ended up being 1900 including deposit of $200. So paid cash of 1700 upon LOADING of truck( as in contract). Job estimated at 5 1/2 hours at $235 hour. Took less than 4. And if it would have been more than 51/2 hours of course it would be added . BUT HAHA WHEN i asked IF I GET A REFUND FOR LESS TIME, of course answer was NO. She needs training in appropriate customer service . I would be satisfied if the $200 deposit was credited back to us. read more

Working with New Horizon Movers was a stress free experience from the moment I first spoke with Andreas. He was thorough in reviewing a quote with me and was readily available anytime I had questions outside of our initial discussion. Sonny, Brian, and Matt were prompt and on time the day of the move. They were very fast in loading the truck yet gentle with all my stuff. This was the same in unloading. The entire experience was calm, efficient, and professional. Plus, the guys were really nice. I've moved about 7 times in my lifetime and New Horizon Movers was absolutely the worst. They packed my belongings and obviously didn't care about them. So many things were broken. My white leather couch was kept in storage and when I got it the couch wasn't even wrapped. There were cut marks all over it! I also had a bedroom set that there was black marks all over and a TV table that they ruined the top of and other areas. These men stepped on my ceiling fan and broke one of the blades. If I could give them no stars I would have. Do yourself a favor and check out other companies that are more honest than New Horizon Movers. Amal the woman who works for them lies so badly. I never hated anyone so much. She never mentioned to the a Judge in New Britain Township that their men got black marks all over my headboard, dresser and my TV table that was $2,000 from Best Buy. They smashed into the top of it and scratches on the side. They packed my Seder plate and matzah plate in the bottom of a large carton and broke them in tiny pieces. I was dreading moving day, but the 4 guys who were sent worked fast and efficiently. They made my day relatively painless. They took apart and packed two glass-top end table, with no problem. The day started with them arriving 15 minutes late. They had three guys but one didn't get out of the truck and spent almost 6 hrs talking on his cell phone (not work related as I could hear him). at just before noon when I brought them back lunch Manny told me we are behind schedule. I said funny since the estimate I gave away a sofa, kitchen table and four chairs, wine cabinet, two nights tables, large TV unit and dresser. We moved all TV two large mirrors and all the cloths ourselves. I said to him if maybe he got out of the truck and help the other two we would be under not over. There was some chips and a few dishes broke but given the what we were up against could have been a lot worse. I wouldn't use them again. read more

My experience New Horizon Movers was mixed. At first, everything seemed like it would go well. Attentive, clear, and a competitive quote. Unfortunately, problems emerged throughout the process. They contracted out to a local moving company with a poor reputation for communication, damaging items, charging more than quoted and taking longer than promised to deliver. I experienced all of these. My actual moving cost was almost TWICE as expensive as the phone quote. I chose this company primarily for their quote; I was understandably displease. And now my biggest frustration: They are not responding to my communication. I have left multiple unreturned voicemails in the past week to discuss their inaccurate and misleading quote. read more

I have moved many times in my life and I can say without a doubt that New Horizon is the worst company I have ever had to work with. When you first talk too them it seems like things will go fine and they offer a reasonable price and are very attentive. However when my move came it ended up being one disaster after another. They came on the wrong day, they delivered to the wrong address, the movers they contracted with raised the prices every step of the way. The movers didn't do a good job packing and items were broken. The customer service that was responsive during the booking process where less and less responsive. Jay, Bob and China were my moving men. I've moved 6 times since 2010, do I know good and bad movers. These guys were amazing. They made me tired watching them. There was no standing around or worse yet wondering how to move something. They constantly were on the go. They asked me if they could take a 5 minute break! The move was done in no time, nothing was broken, they were funny, polite and well mannered. There is not one thing I can say negative about the entire move, and believe me I would if there was something. I would never use the another company, but I'm hoping I don't have yo move for a long time! Thanks again guys! EDIT: once we were unpacked we realized that somehow half of our shed was not moved. Mover reviews are typically bad so the fact that there reviews were average to above average I decided to use them. This was my third time to use movers in the last 15 years and by far the absolute worst. They just don't care about your stuff. They should not advertise that they can pack homes because they clear have no experience. They literally just threw things in boxes! They stacked all our China on top of each and just put one piece of paper over the entire set. I'm shocked we did not have more things break but we did have several broken items. Also a lot of things were just crushed because of the way they stacked things in boxes. We are also missing some items. Most importantly we never found the shelves for our office furniture. We have a fairly big home so we spent a ton of money with this company. I recommend staying away from this company if you want to protect your belonging!! read more

I was told I would have 8 men. There were 4. Load was underestimated by Sonny and the movers left many items back at the house which we needed to set up housekeeping including trash cans and my father's potty chair, telling my son simply that they didn't have room! I specifically called and added my Washer and dryer to the load but it was left at the house. I will have to get another mover to move all of this, therefore I will be getting the better business bureau involved as well as reporting this to the state. I also object to being told that i would have to pay more than i was quoted and then only have you stick to the estimate when I threatened to cancel. I would have been better off if I had cancelled because I don't yet know the cost of having someone come and move the rest of my items. read more

DISHONEST!!! WARNING!!! DO NOT TRUST!!! If I could give this company negative stars, that would be preferred. We contacted them to set up a move for us. We were told at that time of initial contact, that there would be a non-refundable deposit of $200, which was fine, as we had no intention of cancelling. We set it up temporarily as a move and store, where they would pick up our home contents, and take them to be placed in their storage facility for 30 days, as we did not know yet where we would be moving to. We have since secured a home under contract. I called them back today to change the details of the move. I gave Amal, the address we were moving to. She calculated the mileage at 96 miles. There is no world in which this drive is 96 miles. Impossible. It is a straight shot up the turnpike, 51.2 miles, and just a minutes or two off each end of the turnpike, for a grand total of 56 miles. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a calculation of 96 miles, PERIOD....as if this blatant attempt to rip us off is not bad enough, the woman was crazy on the phone. Talking over us, NEVER once allowing either my husband or myself to speak, telling us there is nobody else there we can speak to, and also telling us she was cancelling our move and would be keeping our deposit. THEY CANCELLED ON US AND ARE PLANNING TO STEAL OUR $200. WE ARE LIVING ON A SINGLE FIXED INCOME, and this HORRIBLE COMPANY is STEALING money from us while providing no service. read more

Pick up was May 28th and only a partial shipment arrived in June delivered by Quality Moving and Storage. Since then JJ has stated 4 times thT the remainder of our shipment was on the way. We are without major furniture items and I have filed a Police Theft Report and sending documents to state and federal agencies. BBB files tell a sad story about New Horizon. read more

We had a great experience with New Horizons on a local move. We had to move a 4 bedroom townhouse + pieces from a storage unit to the home we bought - there were many pieces of furniture, there were many boxes, and many fragile items. There was a large crew who helped, and they were very polite, efficient, and careful. There was clearly one man in charge, who stayed to organize and pack the truck and made sure things went smoothly. The crew really knew how to do their job well. Importantly, when any bumps in the road came along - a complaint from a neighbor, pouring rain for a while, as 2 examples - the New Horizons team handled these situations extremely well. I am glad we went with New Horizon Movers based in Huntingdon Valley, PA. We had a local move from Philadelphia to Bucks County. I submitted my information on their website for a quote and received a call shortly after. I shopped around after receiving the estimate and New Horizon Movers were the lowest in OVERALL cost. Although their hourly rate was more costly than a few competitors (and also lower than high-end competitors) - their fuel and travel costs are less expensive (50% less) than other quotes I received. Additionally, They provide you more movers which makes your move go by quickly and more efficiently overall. The movers arrived ahead of schedule, the lead foreman assessed items that needed to be moved and from there devised a plan. The movers were extremely professional and easy to work with! They even offered to bag our expensive Tempurpedic mattress for NO extra charge. They were also kind enough to carry some heavy furniture pieces we planned to throw in the trash. ***NOTE: Other moving companies will not deviate from the original list of items to be moved and will refuse to move any extra items, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS since you can never truly be positive about all the items that need to be moved. I am glad New Horizon Movers were not such company and their movers were extremely flexible. Important Information: The minimum is 4 hours. Although the movers might finish before the 4 hours (in our case 3.5 hours), they charged us for the full 4 hours (which still was cheaper than the initial estimate). Another thing you should be aware of is if you have Ikea furniture or furniture that is more fragile/not meant to be taken apart frequently, they are not comfortable dissembling it and might ask you to sign a waiver. The movers constantly communicated any pre-existing wobbly legs on chairs or loose screws. They did not feel comfortable taking apart our couch to the basement -which is a pain - since I was told on the phone they would, but that's fine. Overall, I am completely satisfied with the move. I highly recommend New Horizon Movers and will do so to all my friends and family. read more

We had to find a mover within a two week period of time because of unfortunate circumstances. We called New Horizon Movers and Amal asked me to tell her, room by room, what I needed moved. Several times I asked her to send someone out to get a qualified estimate. Within the 2 week time frame, someone could have come out. Nonetheless, she quoted me $7500 for the move. The movers came on the date and time expected. They said the move would need an additional truck and the cost would make the move $9,500.00! Because of a delayed settlement our items had to remain on their truck for two nights, which we paid for, but then once they started the move-in process, our invoice went up to $11,400.00. At that point, you are definitely over a barrel if you want your merchandise! Additionally, there were nicks on walls and furniture during the move-in process. I booked with New Horizon movers for an in complex apartment move. I was informed that the movers could arrive early. We were still packing when the movers showed up two hours early. I called the supervisor and asked if I could pay extra to have them finish packing, he informed me it would be an extra $600-800, I said fine as I was exhausted and had a 3 year old with me. The movers arrived and offered their suggestion, they stated that they could get 90% of the items moved out and the current rate (which was $800). I agreed but informed them that I had a neck injury and can't lift anything heavy, so the most important stuff was the heavy items. We got over to the other apartment and they finished up. They seemed to be rushing and I had hungry children in the car so I didn't check the apartment after they were done. Long story short I wished I had. They did not get all the heavy items out and instead of moving 90% of the items they moved roughly 60%. During the move they seemed to be having trouble and dropped a few pieces of my furniture. They say they have experience packing but they just threw things in boxes, this wasn't a professional packing company. I would not recommend them. I've found cheaper companies that do better work. I had to hire someone else and it took 8 more hours to finish up the move. Also, I have an electric couch, they unplugged it and stuck the cord in the couch. We had trouble getting it out. I called the supervisor and informed him, he was no help saying he could eventually get someone out after two weeks to fix the couch. DONT USE THESE GUYS! read more

I contacted multiple movers for my upcoming over night move and had difficulty finding a mover that had both the Thursday pickup date and the Friday delivery date. So I was very pleased that New Horizon had both my dates. They were pleasant on the phone and sent someone to my house for an estimate on Tuesday, just a few days after we spoke. Radu, the moving specialist inventoried my house and asked me to check out his company. He was very proud of the their reputation. He promised he would be there on moving day and that he would send me Moving Estimate the next day. Sure enough, next day, Wednesday, when I got home from work, an estimate arrived from New Horizon. And it was good! I was excited that I finally found my mover. Thursday morning, bright and early at 8 am I called New Horizon to tell them I would like to book with them. Laura, the office person said, "WE DON'T HAVE YOUR DATES!" What do you mean - you sent out a guy Tuesday, sent me an estimate Wednesday and now Thursday YOU DON'T HAVE MY DATES!?? My husband called and spoke with the owner who said someone called with a credit card and booked the dates. I was very nervous about our recent move due to a bad moving experience 13 years ago, where the moving company damaged many pieces of our furniture. However, I am happy to say that New Horizons exceeded all my expectations! Buyer beware when dealing with New Horizon Movers. Even though someone came out to the house to physically list and view the items to be moved, we were told later that the quoted price did not include wrapping furniture or protecting glass shelves. Two armoires were damaged, 1 bureau, a china floor lamp was broken in two, and a brand new hardwood floor was gouged so deep, several boards were damaged beyond repair. Also, a bed frame foot was missing and could not be found. A custom table with mosaic tiles was ruined because the tiles came off in the truck and could not be found. New Horizon refused to compensate us for any of the damages and said that wrapping the glass shelves and padding some our items equaled the cost of the damage done to our furniture. We were told AFTER everything was moved that New Horizon did not agree to wrap anything and since they did wrap a few items such as the glass shelves in my china closet and the glass in the dining room table, New Horizon said that they would not charge us for wrapping up the glass to compensate for all of the damages done to our belongings! I told the estimator several times about the glass in the dining room set and he nodded. When he handed me the estimate, I assumed that this included wrapping the glass in our dining room set. We were giving a great deal of verbal abuse by the New Horizon office staff when we said that no compensation for damages would be given to us after we stated that we were not aware that the wrapping would be an additional charge. After about a 1/2 hour of screaming over the phone, New Horizon said that they would send someone over to repair the gouge in the hardwood floor but no one ever came or even attempted to contact us. Besides all the damage New Horizon Movers changed their acceptable method of payment. We were told that we could pay 1/2 of the move with a credit card and then we could pay for the other half with cash. Since our move was 2 days, we paid for day one with cash. At the end of the 2nd day, the bill was presented and we were told that a credit card would not be accepted for the balance due. New Horizon threatened to call the police if they did not get cash from us immediately for the balance! We did not have the cash and so the moving company followed us to the bank and waited until the cash was withdrawn from our checking account. Also, when the movers were getting ready to leave, we noticed that there was packing materials and cardboard left on the ground. We insisted that New Horizon take the trash with them. So they took the trash and cardboard and threw it in the dumpster at OUR bank! I would give a zero rating if it was an option. read more

I used New Horizon for a semi-long distance move from Kennett Square to the DC area. The estimator showed up promptly, and was quite thorough in assessing and giving me an estimate. On the move day, due to a communication issue, they showed up a bit later than I expected, but the crew was clean, introduced themselves to me and my wife, and went about their business quickly and efficiently. Items were wrapped as they were loaded into the truck (I would have preferred as they were moved to the truck), but we experienced no damage to any of our items. They showed up promptly at the receiving end (they loaded, drove, and unloaded all in the same day) and were amenable to changes in direction as the unloaded. They dealt with a wrinkle at the receiving end (they could not unload from the back of the truck, but had to do from the middle due to unforeseen circumstances) and were unperturbed when a thunderstorm interrupted their unloading. I did not use them for packing, so I can't comment on that, but they did handle the things that we packed with care. Overall, one of the best moves I've had, and I'd use them again. New Horizon Movers are horrible. Everything started off well, they showed up with 3 guys. We took the time to make sure everything was good to go for them. They even mentioned they appreciated that we were ready to go since some people dont prepare and leave things on them. They mentioned right when they got there that it was a good day because it was pay day. Once we got to the new location we were moving into, the head guy asked if the office called us saying their credit card machine was broken and they could only take cash. It was a Saturday afternoon so the banks were closed and the we were never notified since we originally agreed to a credit card payment. When we said we dont have it and they will have to charge us once the machine starts working, the machine "magically" started working. We realized since it was pay day they probably wanted the cash right then. That's when everything went down hill. They no longer were trying to do a good job, they just wanted out of there. We asked them to move a dresser over (the only thing we asked them to move) and they put no effort into it at all and scratched our wall. It's hard to leave a bad review because these guys came to your home and know where you live. But I really cannot recommend them to anyone. Do not use them read more

My first time using a moving company and it was the worst experience. Very unprofessional and shady. The quote over the phone was $780 without ever seeing the place and what was inside. The day before they told my tenant the balance due was $640 which was wrong bc I had given them a cash deposit of $200 weeks before. Never provided any paperwork or contract. Would not return phone calls. The day of the move they said our tenants apartment wasn't ready and that it was extra to wrap her few delicate items which they never gave us any documentation of how there procedure goes and any extra charges for this type of stuff. The just left and didn't do the move. I called the women she proceeded to tell me it would be a total of 10 hours to move her and that she wasn't ready, that was a big LIE. They live in a two bedroom apartment and they were all packed up except for the delicate items.! When I had given them the $200 cash deposit the women in the office refused to give me a receipt. I lost my deposit and my tenants never got moved! Would never recommend this company EVER!!! Bad business and I believe they are scammers and criminals! I may be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau as I have read other reviews that said basically the same thing I'm saying. read more

I used New Horizon Movers to move my family from Philly to Collegeville... in a rain storm. The whole time! And they were great. The team of Doug, Sonny and Jay showed up earlier than expected. They did everything we asked. They finished inside of the time that was allotted. Nothing was wet. Nothing was broken. They seemed to have fun with everything they were doing. They worked really well as a team. We had a really tight schedule between closing the sale of my home and the purchase of the new home. They took extra steps to ensure that our belongings went unscathed. Hopefully we don't need movers anytime soon, but if anyone does, I would recommend using New Horizons Movers. I feel taken advantage of. I'm on leave to handle the estate of my mother and need five furniture pieces moved from the dining room to the basement and wrapped with blankets and plastic wrap purchased from the hardware store. I have a small time window before I return to my operational commitments, but was quoted $200 and paid to reserve my date. I didn't receive any emails, but did receive a call on Memorial Day to confirm for the following day, but they stated I'll need $500 more in cash to move forward and the $200 I paid was a non-refundable deposit; this was not made clear to me and is one week of my military pay that I cannot afford. Amal did say that she could discount the total price to $500 for two guys and two hours instead of four. To move and wrap 5 pieces of furniture down to the basement for that amount is still unreasonable to me and feel deceived in paying $200 that I can't get back to which I thought was the full amount. I was very hurt by all this and had to get off the phone. This complicates my situation even further as I just lost $200, needed urgent help in having items moved in a small time window and have to go back to my duty assignment 3000 miles away. read more

I was in the process of a local move from Jenkintown to Huntingdon Valley and the amount of stuff, me and my wife had was an equivalent of a one bedroom apartment. The movers from New Horizon came on time and very promptly and there truck was HUGE! There was about 5 guys who came and I kid you not they were done loading in less than 30 minutes. Then they drove to Huntingdon Valley where our stuff was going which was about a 5 minute drive. They emptied and lugged all the furniture and boxes one small flight of stairs and placed everything safely and efficiently into our new apartment. What can I say about New Horizons is that they can handle anything. My move was extremely small but you can tell with the size of there truck and there crew that they were professional movers who could handle any job no matter how small or big. The price was a lil steep but for the competitors within the surrounding area, I though the price was well within its range. If I was to move again in the future I would definitely use New Horizon again without second thoughts! read more

We had contracted new horizon movers to pickup our furniture from 2 locations. One was in our California home, and that was going to Florida, and the other was in our Pennsylvania home. They were about 4 hours late picking up in our PA home, and not too late in the CA home, but once they arrived they started to upcharge us on the price. They told us the furniture was bigger then it was described, but on the site it does not ask for measurements. We had to come to an agreement for them to take our stuff, I should have backed out as soon as they did that. They asked us what date we would like to get our delivery and we chose the dates, but it did not come. At this point I had to call them because there is no contact from them. After spending 2 days on the phone, with them telling me all the excuses of why it did not arrive. If you call anytime before 2pm, they cannot give you any answers, they will tell you that dispatch does not get in the office until 2pm, so you are at limbo all morning, and don't wait around for a call back, because it will never come. And when you ask them why they ask you for a date to have you delivery and they cannot meet that date, they inform you that is just a window of the date, and that it could take up to 21 days for delivery, which they will point out that you signed the contract and that is what it says on the contract. They have the worst customer service, they know that have you stuff, and hold you hostage. Don't expect them to deliver on the date you give them, or even the week that you give them. They give you a nice price prior to picking up but after they up charge you, it turns out that the price is the same as every other mover. Stay with some of the bigger companies, and get it in writing that they will deliver close to the date that you choose. Not sure when we will get our delivery but at this point there is no way I could every recommend this company. Stay away from them. JC read more
