Let me start by saying we were promised everything and delivery was nothing. The most unqualified individuals were disbursed to take care of my father who has final stages Alzheimer's. We were promised training if caregivers did not have experience and that never happened. We had completely stoned individuals come in to care for my father and reported it, and nothing was done. RUN do not WALK away from this horrible company; all they care about is collecting from the VA and getting paid. The last thing on their mind was the client. Took home a lot of my belongings in the estate sale I had and promised to pay but she never did. She took home 75 t-shirts and promised to make me 2 quilts, she never did. I've been with new horizons for a couple months now, and I love it. From the matches with clients to how nice the office is and helpful. I've worked in care for about. 4 years now and mostly before this was facilities. This changed how overworked I felt and helped be 1-1 with a client that could get everything they need. My only complaint is sometimes the office is busy and takes awhile to answer but that's not all the time. They typically call back almost right away! read more

I have a quadriplegic family member who lives in my home and has 7 day per week care. The shifts are usually 10 hrs. Four or five days per week he likes to leave the home. The caregivers drive my vehicle (ADA Van) and transport my family member. Sometimes scheduling these shifts is challenging. I work closely with the caregivers when one of them needs time off or is sick or the weather is interfering with their ability to make their shift, then I confirm who can fill in and then report to NH what the plan is so they can change it on their end. My family member has had instances where 911 had to be called and then ambulanced to the hospital. The caregiver on shift responded perfectly and informed me as soon as he was in transport. The caregiver did a great job. New horizons recently scolded me (actually 2 different individuals in one day) and our caregivers for speaking directly and sharing our phone numbers. They said this is their policy. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! You are driving my van, taking care of my family member and I need to be in the know if there is any incident whatsoever. My family member is not usually capable of making contact on his own This policy creates a situation where I may not know when there is a problem. I will continue to make sure I have contact info for the person/persons taking care of my family member. If NH gets in the way of this, I will drop them and find a new service and encourage the excellent caregivers I have to leave and move to whichever company understands the importance of communication. I should also add that when communication goes through their office, it takes a minimum of 30 mins and most of the time longer. If there is an emergency, then this time is completely unacceptable. Home Care for severly disabled veteran, care givers have all been excellent. Reason for the two stars - the office - don't return calls, aren't in office or no-one to take your call, to discuss scheduling, mileage rate for errands was quoted at being mid $.6x, bill came in at $16.xx per 1 mile??? It's like after they take your CCard info., support falls off sharply. Now they say my caregiver can't separate my medications although I have severe neuropathy in my hands and need another level of care to do that, but they don't answer their phone to facilitate that. Do NOT get a job here if your children get sick easily. Their new attendance policy sucks. Daycares will not take sick children, schools send sick children home. Grandparents have to work now to even pay their own rent, it also takes 2 parents to work. It does not matter if you get a note from the DR. saying your kid is sick, we still get penalized. Of course we are going to stay home with our sick kid. If we do not have enough PTO days to cover the absence we will get wrote up, if it happens 3X, we get to talk to Jesse in HR who is RUDE, one more time and we get fired. New Horizons at one time, was a very caring "people first" company. They still claim they are people first, however, now it is a huge company all corporate, and bottom line is the pocket book of the CEO! They do not care about the employees anymore, we are a person to fill a shift. They will schedule caregivers with no experience with Vital clients. Lie to the client stating their caregiver coming is experienced, (if they even bother to let us know a new caregiver is coming). They will lie to the CG saying the client is so SWEET when in fact they know otherwise! Hire any company besides NH if you want to avoid a headache. They will come respond to this review by saying they are a "people first company" That is a huge LIE-they are a money first company. They make millions of dollars, yet can't even contribute to any sort of retirement plan for their employees. The insurance sucks. They can buy superbowl commercials, yet can't treat their employees like they should, invest in your people NH!! If you want a job, apply for the state, free insurance, we get to choose our clients, hours, the pay is within a buck of NH, the free medical, optical, and dental insurance is worth it. While working for NH, I have drove to a clients house, look at the schedule to find the apartment number and the shift has been taken off my schedule. BAM! loss of income, no COMMUNICATION from NH. RUDE!! Before this company exploded, they use to treat us well. A good way to keep employees is treat them with respect. This company will not do that. The ONLY reason I stay is because of the clients. There are amazing caregivers there, To bad we have to work for shitty management. Other caregivers can attest to this. NH pulls us off of ongoing clients for no reason, staffing tells us they were told to from HR. So disrespectful. As far as the incentive program they have to "reward" employees, People don't waste your time, you will never get enough points to do anything with. NH changed the program a year ago, now it is a pain to earn points, and basically a complete waste of time. Do Better New Horizons! Do Better for your employees so we can do better for our clients!!!! We are taking care of the vulnerable class of society! Seems like a very unorganized work environment. Applied online, then was sent a link to setup an interview. Three options were given. *In office interview, *Phone interview, or * Online interview. I chose the in office because I am more comfortable speaking to someone in person. They reached out to confirm my interview ... three times. When I showed up nobody was aware that I was coming in for an interview. Was ignored while they were scrambling around trying to find me in the system. I asked if I should come back another time, I was told no, then was put in a room with a laptop and was told this was how they did the interviews. A man came on to tell me that he was in another interview and would be back shortly. Came back about 10 minutes later stating I was not in the system for an interview. Started off asking me if I had any questions for him. No introduction. How could I have questions if I don't know anything about the company? He then asked me if I would be willing to use my personal vehicle to transport clients, I said I will check with my insurance because there are regulations, and was met with an eye roll. Then asked me if I wanted full time or part time... the online position that was posted was for full time. He said the company can't guarantee full time. Then why post it? I was so confused about their interview process. He asked nothing of my background, nothing. Just those questions. The interview lasted all of 3 minutes. It seems they are just recruiting whoever they can, then weeding out the herd. Too bad for this company because I actually have a medical background. I appreciate the care from the office staff to accommodate me with my needs. I have no issues with office/management, etc., but with 3 out of the 5 or so caregivers, those in particular have made New Horizons the worst place I wouldn't even send my worst enemy to. I hate to say this, because I honestly feel the staff tried their best to help me. After about 2 years of the very poor help I received from caregivers, I have to say, "adios" to New Horizons..period. I am someone who is a disabled senior, suffering from RA, Osteo-Arthritis, Possible Lupus/MS , Fibromyalgia, Brain Tumor, alleged UC/Crohn's disease, etc., etc. I deserve better caretaking than "what, not whom" was sent to me. I should be taken care of & not asked on a 4 hour shift once weekly, to make a pot of coffee for caregiver, allow the most recent caretaker (today, 1/6/24), to be allowed to take breaks to VAPE outside, 20 min., 2X, eat in the midst of her duties, do a very poor job that my spouse & I had to redo, & care less about me with an disgusting attitude. We are currently using New Horizons to help care for my mother in laws needs while my husband is at work and I am in California taking care of my mother. They sent us Noelle, and she has been a Godsend!! We are so grateful to her for always keeping up with my mother-in-laws appointments, picking up our mail on the days she is there, she even takes our doggies out for a walk to the mailbox and back. They don't get out much! She is on TOP of everything when it comes to her appointments, medications, etc. She makes sure her pill box is properly stocked, makes sure she takes her medication, make sure she eats, etc. She keeps us notified of all that is taking place with her. She's a joy to talk to, when I am home in Eugene and she is there, Noelle, myself and my mother in law enjoy chatting and having a good laugh. Our family is so grateful for Noelle and to New Horizons for sending her to us. She sincerely cares about her clients and even their family!! Horrible, the office staff could care less about there clients, they have left my mother in bed for several hours, unable to "find someone" to find someone to take that shift, as they take away her scheduled caregiver and put them somewhere else, we really like the caregivers, its not there fault, but if they are sick, or on vacation, they don't care and don't even bother to call us and let us know no one will be there, our mother calls us several hours later to tell us she's still in bed!! I am a licensed CNA with a current license in good standing. I applied with this company, had a zoom interview (Salem), took the swab-siliva drug test and passed, and then was offered a job via a written contract which stated it takes effect on first day of orientation training (3-days). I showed up for training the first day, and there were tables with two sets of materials on each table. I took a seat at one of them. There was a sign-in sheet which I signed. Then this unidentified lady came to me to say "Jessica" was trying to reach me. I called her and stepped outside to speak with her. Afterwards, she told me to return to the classroom, all was okay, confirming my CNA license had been renewed and it was current. I did, only to find that the paperwork at my table was removed and given to a third person in the room. I walked out to the foyer to say, "hey, um, what happened to my paperwork?" The same woman (blond hair, I assume she was the trainer) asked me if Jessica said I could return to the classroom; I said yes, she directed me to do so. She said they'd be with me shortly. I went back into the room and waited. There was a zoom screen with other classrooms visible and ready to go. This woman came up to me and said I had to do a background check and pointed to my phone saying an email was sent to me. I told her I didn't have access to my email via my phone. Then she walked out of the room to talk on her phone. When she returned, she said I had to leave because they needed to do a background check. So I left. When I got home and checked my email, there was nothing at all from New Horizons, so I called "Jessica" the woman who hired me. She never returned my message. I called again later that same day, but she didn't pick up or return my message. The next day, I returned to commence orientation per my written contract. I went early so I could ask for a copy of all the papers I signed upon hire. That same blond-haired woman was there. I said, I was there as an employee to do orientation training pursuant to my employment contract. She said that had been rescinded. I asked why I hadn't been informed of that and questioned who she was stating she had given me misinformation the day before about a background check. At that point, she became hostile and said I wasn't an employee. I reiterated that I wanted a copy of my file and the papers I had signed. She refused saying she didn't have to give me anything or answer any of my questions, or even identify herself. I had my video going the whole time from my cell phone and captured what in essence was deceit, mistreatment, and violation of my employment contract as well as employment law. I left, but will be filing a complaint against her and the company. The treatment I received was unfair. They wasted my time and cost of gas, and basically lied to me. It was completely unnecessary. What a disgrace, and how rude and disrespectful they treated me. read more

The management is unresponsive and unprofessional. I have never dealt with an agency so poorly run. I have tried to communicate my concerns and the nursing manager and HR manager have they never responded to my emails or phone calls. The nurse care coordinator has no idea what is going on with the staff. The staff aren't supported by management. Its unbelievable. read more

I contracted with New Horizons when I needed help getting in and out of bed, getting dressed, and taking care of some of my hygiene programs. I had been a fully independent paraplegic, being able to do all these things by myself until an operation on my neck made my right arm useless. I needed someone to come to my North Albany home to help me onto my wheelchair. New Horizons did a good job at first, sending the same person for the normally scheduled care and providing timely short-term emergency assistance when called on. However, after a few months they lost the services of the regular person and were not able to find another regular person. We were getting help four days per week, and it was not uncommon to get three different aides for the four service calls. It was unsettling not knowing who would be appearing at the door in the morning and having to train several new people. I would recommend New Horizons for occasional help without reservation. When I suddenly found I needed assistance at 11 pm I could call the agency and they would find someone to come help. If seeing a number of different faces for regular service doesn't bother you they would be a good choice there as well. If consistency and keeping the number of people who enter your house to a minimum are top priorities there may be better agencies for you out there. read more

I read Billy B's review and found it deeply disturbing. He seemed more hung up on how some people looked and how he "felt" an employee knew how to do their job. He made NO mention as to if he actually had services with New Horizons, and to be perfectly honest it sounds like he has some personal vendetta against the company or someone in the company. It's sad that he felt like he needed to insult the people working there and had no real experience with the company itself. Even after reading his misleading review we decided to interview them anyway. That being said I would like to explain my experience. We interviewed several companies when we were looking for care for our mother. My sister is a nurse and has pretty high standards when it comes to care. New Horizons was the only place out of all fm them that she felt was capable of giving our mother the care she deserved. We were appreciative that they didn't pressure us or rush us into a decision. They were very caring and sat with us answering all f our questions and concerns. We found the staff friendly and always available when our mother needed them. A nurse showed up as requested, a care taker was there when scheduled, and we're always hands on when it came to care. They were kind and respectful to my mother and my mother is one of the crankiest people I know. She can be difficult to say the least, yet not a single time did any of the staff not respond in kindness. That's the best thing I can say about the is that they're kind. My sister being a nurse was overjoyed at the knowledge of the nurses on staff. We were both happy that the caretakers would call the nurse if they weren't sure about anything. Nothing was left to chance, and over the past couple of months our mother has really opened up and seems happy with the conference she's gained by having someone she trusts with her. She's on a fixed income and still gets exceptional care. I've called them at 3 am and my calls were always answered by a concerned and knowable nurse in a quick and respectful manner. If you're really looking for help with someone you love New Horizons is a great solution. read more

I just wanted to reach out and say a little something about this company and hope that things will get better. We have only been with this company for about 3 weeks. I was very clear about the services that I needed before we signed on with this company; I was assured that all my concerns would be addressed and that I had no worries. The very first day as the case manager was with me waiting for the care giver to arrive; it started off bad that the care provider was late, not only on the first day, but two other times. All he did was sit and read, did not engage my parent. The straw for me was a quart of something poured over a sofa seat cushion. Another worker didn't even show up and I was told only 20 min before the sift that they were looking for someone. They did finally send a HR person who was also 15 min late. My husband also saw one of the workers sleeping on the sofa. Again, another care provider was late and told them he couldn't get in because of a lock on the gate and wasn't sure how to get in. Odd he had just watched my parent a few days before this'd new how to get in. I asked to have him replaced and he was there anyway the very next morning, and has continued to be there. I have called and left messages with the case manager and no one returned my calls to tell me this will get better, or how is it going? I unfortunately have to concur with other reviewers, the management is unresponsive and the company as a whole seems to be run poorly. It appears they have a difficult time with well trained providers and staff. Not to say we do have one very conscientious provider but only one day a week. We also had a fill in that seemed adequate, but that was only temporary. Today the provider left leaving the bathroom a royal mess after showering my parent. Most of the providers are not very contientious and would rather read and play with their phones. I do have great hopes this will get better as I mentioned this is only week three. I would love to do an updated review at a later date and hope to say only positive and good things. I'd like to believe this is only because were new and it will take time to get a rhythm, and managers will be more helpful and attentive. read more

We love our clients and send good, solid people to our clients. Many of these people are provided the most comprehensive training program in our industry we developed and give our new employees and pay them during the training. All staff are directly supervised, trained and supported by licensed nurses. In regards to the individual with outrageous comments directed at myself. I have never had one of my personal vehicles washed at the office. I have had the automobiles we loan to caregivers ( when their transportation in unavailable)used to provide transportation (at no additional cost) to our clients. The so called price tags you say are on artwork in the office building are tickets with numbers to inventory things as required by law, something you will see often in offices if you look closely. We provide over 900 jobs to people in this community. We provide a necessary service. We do what it takes to please our cherished clients. I cannot put in to words my gratitude for this organization. Since my parents have passed on, I have had time to reflect on the 6 1/2 years I cared for them in my home. Both mom and dad were diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease within 4 months of each other. They were both still able to make decisions at that time. We agreed my home was set up so we could all live together. I managed their care with help from family and friends for the first 3 years. After that dad was diagnosed with cancer, mother had diabetes for years. Things got complicated. Someone at the Alzheimer's Association advised I look into in home care. I was given a list. I called and interviewed every agency on the list. My first choice was not a good one. The people that initially came out to talk about their service were very nice. However it turned out they didnt screen their people well. I had things missing. People with no understanding of my parents disease were sent out and often times very little to no help in the end. Mom and dads care including many medications were complex. I talked to the agency about nursing support. They had told me during the initial interview they were licensed and had a nurse available. As it turned out they referred an independent nurse to me that knew nothing about my parents disease. I was referred by a friend at church to New Horizons In Home Care. I called them and was offered a registered nurse to answer any questions I may have about their service. We made an appointment for her to come to our home later that afternoon. We spent 2 1/2 hours talking about my parents needs. It was explained to me that New Horizons Has a large team of nurses so that one is always available around the clock if I need them. I terminated our service with the first agency and hired New Horizons. The difference was night and day. When I would grill them they would share with me the training opportunities New Horizons had given them. Each one was kind and caring. One young lady was sent out that was a licensed Aide but had minimal understanding of my parents disease process. I called the nurses at New Horizons and she immediately came to my home and spent several hours with the young lady working with her giving her one on one training. It was explained to me this young lady was a licensed C.N.A. for several years. Although she had a lot of training and knowledge she had somehow during her career never had hands on experience with people suffering from Alzheimer's. Although New Horizons had made a slight error, they made up for it by providing a quick a thorough response to it. Then they credited my bill for several days worth of service. Our nurse came weekly to manage and monitor mom and dads medications. It was a huge relief. One night after the caregiver had left my mother somehow got into the medication cabinet and had bottle after bottle of pills all over the floor. At 11;00 p.m. I called the nurse at New Horizons and she came over immediately. We took mother to the emergency room. Fortunately she hadn't swallowed anything. After that I decided to hire New Horizons to provide caregivers round the clock. I just could not watch mom closely at night as I needed my rest. I was determined to keep mom and dad at home. As things got more difficult, I had more care during certain hours of the day. I could call and New Horizons would respond within immediately with any schedule change I needed. I would send the caregiver to the grocery and to run any errands I may need. Sometimes I would take a much needed break and go away for a few days. When I returned it was wonderful to find everything in order. This organization is the best of the best. I have referred several friends. Thank you New Horizons In Home Care.
