Of course I have the correct buisness. It's quite upsetting to be asked if I actually remember where I last saw my husband, which was your funeral home. My husband of 37 yrs sadly passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a cardiac aneurysm and for you to ask if I have the correct funeral home is quite insensitive & insulting. I dealt with Christine. She was very cold and 'matter of fact'. Everything I posted indeed happened. I certainly would have liked to have management there on that evening. As you can imagine, it was an extremely sad & stressful time for myself and our three sons. There was no one present to ask for help. Again, once the bill was settled, management disappeared. I did receive a cake from a bakery from your buisness the following week which was the only upside as I hadn't eaten for days. I still feel very badly as things could've gone a whole lot better. Again, no one even asked if I needed anything or helped the guests get situated. I literally stood up the whole time not knowing what to do. It took me a while to have the courage to even write this. It's difficult to continue to realize that things did not go well. read more

I recently attended my uncle's funeral here. From what I heard from my aunt and my dad the planning process here was quite smooth. My interactions with the staff were positive as well. The ambiance of the funeral home was bright and uplifting with ample lighting and whites used throughout. Other elements were used for comfort as well. An impressive fish tank was in the main area. Lots of tropical and colorful fish. A fireplace was also in the main area and was tastefully decorated for the holidays. Outside there is a small water feature and plants in a meditation area. The salon set up was standard with a viewing area in front for the coffin and flower offerings and several rows of seats extending to the back. There also was a TV on the side to display any digital pictures. One unique feature here is that the front row of seats were sofa like chairs that were quite comfortable. This is great since the family could be sitting here for hours during a wake. They have a parking lot with about 20 spots, but if it is full there seemed to be plenty of parking in the surrounding neighborhood. read more

While I don't often leave reviews, I felt compelled to write one for New Hyde Park Funeral Home in the hopes that this helps any other families going through the challenging time of having to plan services while experiencing lost. Having compassionate and attentive guidance can make such a difference and that's what we received from the staff here. John, the funeral director, made himself available whenever we had questions leading up to and even after the funeral. The home itself was warm and bright and had convenient parking, which were our biggest criteria initially when choosing a location. This proved to be the best decision for us because it gave us the opportunity to create a beautiful service that felt intimate, and family and friends could focus on honoring our mom without worrying about logistics. I will not be taking down my review. I never said mom prepaid the funeral home for her services. She had money set aside for her own funeral. I'm not concerned with your cameras. I was the one driving & trying to catch up to the procession. The hearse started driving before I was in the car. Your funeral director did not show compassion. Christine Galvin not only disrespected my family but added additional pain to an already heart-wrenching experience. My grandmother had four children, yet Christine made sure to only acknowledge one out of the four during the burial services. The other three were referred to as "friends," being grouped in with the rest of the attendees. The loss of a parent is already an extremely difficult time for the children of the deceased. To speak to them as anything less than equal to one another is not only disrespectful, but it is extremely cruel. It's a lovely, clean home with ample parking and conveniently located. The cost was very competitive with other homes in the area However, the most important thing are the people. John and his staff were helpful in all aspects of this difficult process. John Ciolko is an experienced, knowledgeable director. He was able to patiently explain the process and give us options and suggestions. His help was much appreciated. I attended two wakes at this location. The funeral home is easy to find and they have a good sized parking lot in back. There are Covid precautions in place: hand sanitizer bottles are available, and the rooms here are large enough to comfortably hold a good number of visitors. The staff are friendly and welcoming as you walk in. There are tissues available as well. In the other main section of the lobby they did decorate for the holidays. Christmas decorations are up in keeping with the season. It's tough to lose someone during the holidays but it's all kept classy and not overwhelmingly cheery. They do a good job providing that support and respect to each family. And if you just wanted a moment of peace by yourself, there is a large fish case filled with tropical fish (including a Nemo Clown Fish and a Dory Blue Tang fish). For someone grieving who wants to be by themselves for a moment, fish are excellent to be a silent friend: they provide a reminder that life is present and ever changing, and yet they are visual and do not require much interaction/energy from the griever. As they swim about gracefully, there is beauty and an uplifting peace the fish give out living their daily lives in the tank. read more

Michael, nope. That was my experience and the experience of others in my family. Yes, there was a dynamic going on and it was unnecessary for your employee to get involved and make it worse. I asked to PAY FOR a copy of the death certificate and I was smugly refused. Then she ran out to tell my brother I asked for it. That was totally unnecessary and caused more distress. By the way, Michael, I called the funeral home the day before the funeral to ask a question and I did say to that person that I would be there. The details of the payment for the funeral were withheld from me until I threatened to get a subpoena. This was after the funeral, after your business knew that I was one of my mother's 4 children. But now I see you are comfortable posting the financial details publicly. The immediate family was supposed to be treated equally - we were not. The prayer at the cemetery only mentioned one child, when it was fully known at that point that there were 4 of us. I also asked to speak to you on the phone the week after the funeral but I did not hear from you. In light of these facts, I request that you take your comments down and reflect on the pain that was caused to us that day. read more

When our mom left us, that day I was trying to remember the funeral I went to one time. I was telling my sister that we should get their service. So we decided to get them and they are very respectful to our mom and very professional. They even suggested what cemetery we should go and they were right, it was a nice location in Farmingdale. We were happy. The Funeral home made it easier for us to go to different things that we will need for our mom's service. They're like family to us, very respectful to our mom and to us. They made sure that everything will go smoothly for us especially. It's our first death in the family and they were a big part in going through this process of grieving. We didn't even have to bother about details, they said that they will take care of everything. From the viewing, to the burial mass and to the cemetery, everything was perfect, our relatives in the Philippines who saw the pictures said that it was really a nice service and we gave our mom the best love and respect. I have had to help plan 3 funerals, all in different funeral homes. This time, I decided to ask my parish church, for a reference. Though the woman who answered my call said that all the locals homes were good, she told me that she had used New Hyde Park for both of her parents and had been very happy. I understand fully why she returned to them. From my first phone call up to the interment at the cemetery, I was treated with complete, unconditional respect and compassion. The facility was spacious, clean and cozy, with ample parking in the back. The staff arranged not only the wake, but the church service and, since I already owned a plot at Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery, the paper work at the cemetery. My only responsibilities were clothing my husband, Ron, and finding pictures of our life so that THEY could scan them onto a CD for their electronic picture screen at the wake. My husband was sick for a long time and his face showed the toll he had taken. I was not sure that I should have an open casket. Rene could not have done a better job in preparing him for the viewing if he had known him in his prime. He looked like himself, peaceful and healthy, as if he truly was sleeping and just about to wake and stand up. I'm pretty sure the tears I shed when I first saw him were tears of joy. The pallbearers were the most professional I have ever seen. They approached the casket with complete respect, compassion and military form. The casket was carried on their shoulders in perfect unison. They were dignified and quiet through the entire service. The driver of the hearse was also amazing. He keep the procession of about 10 vehicles together safely. He had a good sense of when the lights would turn red and stopped at the green, allowing them to turn in order for us all to go through together, safely and legally. Though I hope that the occasion does not arise soon for me to use their services again, I will most definitely return to New Hyde Park Funeral Home if it does. They are a class A+ establishment.
