just a heads up this review is mostly about the dog park in the back of the park. since moving to…read morelong island a few years ago my partner and i were looking for a local spot to take our corgi puppy and this one was the closest. it ended up being a pretty solid choice. they've made some updates recently like expanding the synthetic turf in the big dog area which is great. the rest of the park still has a mix of sand and gravel on both the small and big dog sides which is fine but gets a little dusty sometimes. on hot summer days there is a little bit of shade which helps but not a whole lot so definitely bring your own water. the fountains are there but they're not super reliable. they've worked on and off over the past few years but lately they've been mostly off. outside of the dog park you can tell the community is really into the tennis and pickleball courts. the parking lot was also recently redone so no more giant dips or weird bumps which is super nice. overall it's a good dog park. not perfect but glad it's nearby.

As the name suggests, the park has a big pond and area surrounding it. There aren't really any paths in the park which is a little difficult for when it is muddy. There are also a lot of goose droppings covering essentially the entire park. I guess a path would make up for this but maybe extra pick up is needed. It was like walking through a minefield.

This whole interaction was extremely disgusting for her behavior. West side with a short row. A lot of trees, will get plunked with acorn every once in a while sitting on the seat. A central area to stroll and grass along the central area for pets. Garbage cans are located in the central area and the west exit. Not much foot traffic in this area nor people sitting around, great to kick back and enjoy a cigar in public without offending anyone. All year round, on the weekends cyclist from all over the city and island gather here to start a ride at 8:30am. Has been a tradition for a few decades. Parking along the park will be limited during this time. Otherwise parking is generally easy. North side of the park is bordered by Horace Harding Expressway, so quite busy during the evening rush.

It was great, they would have their fill of fun and then we could go home and rest. Now years later my wife and I joined the newly renovated pool with all new lounge chairs, locker and rest rooms and a new kiddie pool with a slide. It is a huge improvement. It was ok before and now it is so much better. We came here quite a bit this year and really enjoyed it. There is no food allowed by the pool area but they have a snack stand with tables and benches where you can either purchase food or bring your own. We had a very nice time this season and will join again next. They also have other amenities at the park such as tennis and a meeting room.
