This little hole in the wall has taken over as my go-to Chinese restaurant. It's located on busy rt20 in Westside. There are only a couple of tables in the place. And they do a vibrant takeout business. The food is amazing. The usuals of General Tso, sweet and sour pork/chicken, chicken fingers, teriyaki, fried rice, and egg rolls. What I love the most is that you get good size pieces of chicken in the chicken fingers. They are overly breaded. Which is a pet peeve of mine. I have been looking for a decent Chinese restaurant for some time now, decided to try New Joy Wah. I had it delivered. I need to keep looking. I ordered poo poo platter for 2, General's chicken, chicken (golden) fingers and pork lo mein. General's chicken, absolutely no heat what so ever & mediocre flavor. We order here for lunch. I got the Shrimp and vegetable with steamed rice. The rice was good, however it only came with 4 shrimps and to even worsen the experience while eating I seen something weird on my broccoli, when I took a closer look, it was MAGGOTS !!!!!! PLEASE BE ADVISED. read more

My go to in western MA. The past couple orders have been a little lesser in quality, but seems to be due to a labor issue. I can cut the hard working chef some slack. After all, his food is GREAT. New Joy Wah is one of the few Cantonese restaurants in our area and after my first visit, I'm sure I'll be going back to try other dishes on the menu. Fried Rice in many Chinese American restaurants generally is lack luster and a mere plate filler, not here at NJW, it was above average and caught my attention right away. The House Chicken with light brown sauce was another surprise, not only was it flavorful but the portion size was quite large more than I was expecting for $5.95. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the addition of cabbage gave the dish a textural crispy crunch which was a very nice touch. Prices are moderate making this place a good value for an above average quick lunch. read more

Stumbled on this restaurant by accident and am sure glad I did. That was 10 years ago and am still a regular customer. Their food is the best and portions are quite large. People are super friendly and eager to please. My favorite is their Chicken and Cashew, General Tso, Pork Egg Foo Yong and Crab Rangoons. read more

We've been going for years, but the quality has definitely changed over the years. Went today and paid $65 for 5 dishes. I thought it sounded high but didn't question it. I wished I had. If you live in West Springfield, you will hear that North Garden is the place to go. I worked for Gold Chopsticks for several years, so I've had my share of Chinese food. I don't know why but I hadn't had Joy Wah since it changed locations. Honestly, the food here is just as good, if not better, than North Garden. Their location is much more convenient overall as well :D. Their chicken fingers and crab Rangoon were fried to perfection. The breading was perfect. I The beef lomein was great and not overly greasy. It didn't taste excessively greasy and I felt pretty good after eating it three times, including 2 leftover lunches. I don't think I have ever gotten my food faster. I ordered in the restaurant, sat down, and within 5 minutes I was out the door with my order. The staff is very friendly, and the portions are huge. The best American-Chinese in the area. We go there and drive about 30 minutes to get it. Prices are comparable to everywhere else but the difference is in the quality and what seems to be freshness. Absolutely worth the drive. read more

We are new to the area and have been looking for a decent place serving Chinese Food. This place ain't it as it was disappointing for sure. Yes, the white steamed rice was good and it should be as it is simple to make. The Won Ton Soup was not traditional Won Ton Soup. It was a brown colored broth, not a good sign. It should look like Plain Chicken Broth. Also, it had sliced carrots and mushrooms in it. We been eating Chinese Food for over 55 years and never ever had it served to us that way. The Pork Dumplings in it were not good quality and had no seasoning and also were too thick on the starchy coating. They did add snow peas too, which was generous, but, snow peas are not added to Won Ton Soup as a general rule. A decent amount of sliced scallions would have been nice, but, there were hardly any of them in there and they were sliced extremely small. The staff was okay and you can dine inside or take your food to go. It is located right on a main road with generally ample parking spaces provided. I don't think we will be going back to this place due to the food not being very good in our opinions. We will continue in our search for a decent place serving Chinese Food. read more

Visited last night. Got wrong food, chicken instead of beef. Returned and instead of giving me my beef which I requested, they argued and insisted I ordered chicken. They finally replaced it by scraping the chicken off the rice, leaving the sauce and topped the chicken rice with beef instead of making a new dish. Horrible customer service, but great general tso. read more

Awesome place been going there for years. Wanton and garlic sauce is the best around. All there food is excellent and the price is good.
