I recently cracked a crown and was looking for anyone that could see me as soon as possible, and that lead me to the yelp listing for New Leaf. I read the bad, read the good, and decided to give them a try. I called, explained my situation, and boom, same day visit to make sure everything was ok, then a follow up the next day for a temp. Fast, efficient, easy. Now, because this was an emergent issue, I didn't take the time to go through all of the hoops to find an in-network provider with my insurance provider. I know this could've lead me to a search for a second job, but fortunately I was covered, even though I was not in-network. I did have questions about cost, and how my coverage would apply; let me tell you, they broke everything down, and explained everything I could expect, and even refunded me fees that they clawed back from my insurance. I wanted to know how my coverage would work, since they were out of network, and they gave me a printout of how my coverage would be applied over their range of services. It turns out that even though they're not in my network, everything is still reasonably covered so I'm joining their club! A week later, my crown was ready; they got it fitted, seated, and got me out the door in under an hour. No pain, no problems, just premium work! On my original crown, you could feel the seam where the crown met the tooth, but the new one is on there and I can't tell where my tooth stops and the crown starts, it's completely seamless! The way Dr. Susie Ryan treated my daughter (age 10) was abhorrent. This took place at a pediatric dentist office in Windsor. Long story short, my daughter was extremely distraught and anxious with getting a shot for her filling. The Dr. decided to do a temporary filling instead which does not require a shot. At this point though, my daughter was not aware of what was happening, still distraught, and was trying to cover her mouth with her hands. Dr. Susie Ryan then said out-loud, "Yep, she is going to need anesthesia." In a very condescending tone. When the procedure was finished, Dr. Susie Ryan GRABBED my daughter's wrists, pushed her hands down and said very sternly, "STOP IT! YOU ARE CRYING OVER NOTHING!." This reaction from the doctor was completely unacceptable not to mention invalidating of my daughter's feelings. Dr. Susie Ryan's bedside manner is discourteous, condescending and dismissive. She was employed at the pediatric office for less than a year and now I know why. She should NOT be treating children. read more

I recently changed dentists to Dr. Kuo. I do not like going to the dentist. I was reluctant to switch doctors because i had become comfortable with my dentist. To my surprise after a root canal repair and a root planing Dr. Kuo has gained a happy new patient. Took our 1 yo to Dr. Susie - didnt know what to expect, but she knew just how our son would react and how to make this first appointment to the dentist the best it could be! Despite some tears from my boy, Dr. Susie gave us some of the best advice we have gotten to take care of his teeth. I have been a patient of Dr. Yock for nearly a decade. I was worried when she told me she was going to retire. She understood, and was very careful when she was choosing someone to take her place. I met Dr. Kuo during one of my routine cleaning/check-up visits, as he shadowed Dr. Yock. Though I wasn't thrilled about being under a new dentist's care, but I knew I could trust Dr. Yock's judgement. I have seen Dr. Kuo several times now. Much like Dr. Yock, he remembers details, such as my love of motorcycles, treats patients gently and professionally, and is concerned about your comfort. He is thorough and takes the time to make sure any questions you may have are answered. He was able to see me quickly when I had a sharp pain in one of my teeth, and was quickly able to identify an infection, write the appropriate prescriptions, and refer me to an excellent endodontist for specific treatment. He emailed copies of the X-ray for the specialist to look at, and soon I was free of pain. I have been down this path before with a different dentist, and I'm grateful Dr. Kuo made the right call without hesitation. As for the rest of the staff and office, I am always greeted by Jenny's smiling face at the front desk when I walk in. The office is very clean and though I am no expert, the equipment is all up to date. The location is very easy to get to, though there are schools nearby so depending on your appointment time, there may be traffic. I always enjoy my routine visits, Fran does an amazingly thorough job cleaning my teeth. She always asks how I am doing as well; she is always interested in whether I have taken or plan any trips (she remembers how often I like to travel), if I rode my motorcycle, how my niece is doing... she takes the time to get to know you. The entire staff makes me feel right at home, not just a nameless patient. Dr. Kuo was able to jump right in and carry on that feeling of familiarity, and I'm happy to say the office is in great hands! read more

I grew up being bullied by my childhood dentist and have had a lot of problems with anxiety around going to the dentist ever since. I've always had to take Valium and/or nitrous to keep from crying or generally freaking out at the dentist. Because of that I tended to out off work that needed to be done. My in laws introduced me to Dr. Yock a few years ago and I decided to give her a try. Not only were her staff warm and welcoming but I've never once felt uncomfortable or anxious! Dr. Yock has recently retired and it is now Dr. Kuo's practice. I can honestly say that I was not impressed. I went there based on yelp reviews not realizing that those great reviews reflected Dr. Yock. My visit was disorganized and Dr. Kuo was slow to the point of coming off as incompetent. He said I needed a root canal but that he didn't know how to do one. He also said I had a whopping 11 cavities! I was stunned. I decided to get a second opinion and I am thankful that I did. I went to one of the top dentist in Santa Rosa and I only had 4 cavities due to bad filling/sealants. No root canal was needed. I saved a fortune and prevented a lot of unnecessary dental work by changing dentist. Dr. Kuo's incompetence is mind blowing in my case and honestly makes me think that he was trying to scam me and my insurance with unnecessary work. When I transferred my care to my new dentist in Santa Rosa Dr. Kuo's office didn't bother to email my records after I signed the release form. The only highlight of my visit to Dr. Kuo was the dental hygienists, Fran. She gave me one of the best teeth cleanings I've ever had. read more

Then she told me she was going to retire! I felt dismayed at the prospect of being herded into the new guy's practice. Contrary to what Yelp and their office website says, they no longer do pediatric dentistry. Or maybe they are just not accepting new pediatric patients? It was difficult to discern because the person who answered the phone was both evasive and patronizing. I asked if they had openings with their pediatric dentist. "We don't do that anymore". I asked for clarification. After I waited on hold and was disconnected (I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they didn't just hang up on me), I called back and explained who I was again. The staff member told me, "what you need to do is go to such and such website and search for a pediatric dentist". Excuse me, what? I said that their website shows that they have a pediatric dentist, is she not there anymore? Finally she said they can't take any pediatric patients. Why be so dismissive and obtuse? She could have just told me they had no more room in their practice if that's the case, without making me feel like I was being a nuisance for trying to give them my money. Rude and disappointing. Don't go here unless you want to pay out of pocket as if I didn't have insurance. I've been going here for about 5 years never had a problem until this year when Dr Kuo opted out of network. I went in for my regular cleaning which I have never had to pay a dime for. To my surprise I get charge 175 dollars I'm like why is there a charge? They tell me Oh we are out of network as of 1/1/22 we charge you and then we put in the claim for you and your insurance will reimburse you the full amount for the cleaning. I receive a check about 6 weeks later for only 119 dollars and like i though i was being reimburse I guess not LOL. I decide I'm not going through this again and call to cancel my next cleaning and tell them I'm going with another dentist that is within network cause I didn't want to go through this again. They say ok we will send you a form to close out the account. To my surprise I get 2 forms one with a balance of the visit from my last cleaning that I had payed for 175 stating I owed for the clinic visit for that day and the other form was so they had my permission to release my dental records that may include a service fee. Make story short I told them I'm not signing anything and I'm not paying no additional money for a cleaning that should of been at no cost in the first place. The receptionist was rude at the time of my call and told if I wasn't happy with the coverages I have I should deal with it with "my SHITTY insurance" those were her words. I told her what those my insurance have to do with you guys trying to charge me all this extra money for a service that i never paid for. They are taking advantage of this out of network and raising their rates so we the customer have to come out of pocket. Don't go here!!!!!! read more

It's unfortunate to be writing this review because my experiences there in the past have been great, however that recently changed. First off- The lady who answers the phones is extremely rude and lacks any type of costumer service skills. With that being said, the reason for this review- My daughters babysitter had called out sick last minute, therefore my husband had to stay home with her. We called very early in the morning and had to leave a voicemail because the office wasn't open yet. Next thing we know we get a bill in the mail for 100$. Ok i can understand 40$, 50$ even... but 100$??? Absolutely absurd. They refuse to forgive the bill so I refuse to go back. I've even referred TWO different people to their office (both which have had issues with the office; One being charged for something that was never done and the other for being told their insurance didn't actually cover a procedure until after it was completed.) I completely understand that all businesses are struggling right now, but it really seems to me that this office is more concerned about taking people's money rather than keeping them as patients. So really, they didn't just lose us as patients they also lost the other two families in which I referred. I have a lot of anxiety from bad dentist experiences in childhood. Finding Dr Donna Yock was great! She is gentle and explains everything she is going to do. I love everyone at the office. It has a warm, welcoming, nurturing vibe. I trust Dr Yock. She is skilled and has fixed mistakes a former dentist of mine made. This is kind of a side note, but I am one of those people that kind of judges a place based on it's bathroom. Weird I know. Their bathroom is the best. I have been going to Dr. Yock for nearly 20 years. When she said she was retiring, I was upset and uneasy as to whom she would turn her business over to. When Dr. Kuo had only been with her a short time, she introduced me to him. She was putting in a new cap on two of my lower back teeth. About a month later I was having a little problem and went back in and Dr. Kuo helped me. He was extremely gentle and fixed my issues. A few days later he called me and asked me how it was. I have never had a dentist follow up themselves like this. My 47 year old son also goes to this office and he told me he thought Dr. Kuo was great. Now for the office staff. They are all wonderful. Jan has been cleaning my teeth for 17 years and everytime I come in she asks about my family members (by name), asks about the trips we have been on, etc. She remembers most everything we talk about.
