Good work at a fair price. Dr Balytsky is worth considering for your Endodontics. His staff is very nice and good at their job as well.

Feb 10, 2026 I am…read morevery happy with my regular dentist Nadia Navid, as I have been going to her for over 15 years. During my last check-up, it was determined that I needed a root canal on the #30 molar, and I was given a choice of Orest M Balytsky, DMD, in Petaluma (who retired some time ago), and a married endodontic couple in Santa Rosa (forgot their names). I called the Petaluma one to get a rough estimate and was quoted $2906. So I called Santa Rosa and was quoted $3405. Both seemed a little high to me and when I mentioned it to two friends, they agreed. I then chatted with my neighbor, and she said that her husband and daughter went to Dr. Mark Roper on Cypress, and they were very pleased with him, and she suggested I call. THAT WAS THE BEST DECISION I COULD'VE MADE! The quote from Beverly, the receptionist, was almost $500 cheaper than Dr. Balytsky, and almost $800 cheaper than the Santa Rosa one. I made an appointment and immediately felt confident with Dr. Ropper, and his dental tech, Amy, and when he checked my tooth, he said I didn't need the scan -- saving me $150 right there!!! To make a long story short, I just got home and could've been happier -- not just the reasonable cost (total $2490) but the professional treatment and overall experience. (2 weeks after my root canal, I learned from another friend how happy he was with Dr. Roper.) As Beverly explained, Dr. Roper does not have multiple partners or office locations and doesn't have a huge staff -- just Amy and Beverly. I can't recommend Dr. Mark Roper and I hope my dentist, Dr. Navid, takes note of my 5-star experience/rating, and recommends her other patients to this excellent practice. She owes it to her patients -- and not just for cost reasons.

(Mind you her advertised hours for Friday is 8am to 1pm. We went in and she allowed my toddler to play in her wonderful waiting room and get comfortable. She was so friendly and good with him, she had some stuffed animals off to the side and she let him grab them and take them to the exam chair. She allowed me to hold him while she examined, treated and made me relieved with his condition. Again, very knowledgeable, conservative and informative. Thanks DR. Boyer - see you soon.

I was referred to Dr. Boyer by a colleague after years (8!) of not having dental insurance and not a lot of room in my budget to keep up on annual exams. Dr. Boyer was non-judgmental, gentle, and very good at explaining each and every procedure that needed done (a few cavities and two crowns). Dr. Boyer started on the easiest stuff first, to get me used to being in a dental chair again. She took breaks whenever I needed them! Dr. Boyer's office staff is also excellent, and I've never had a problem with their billing and my insurance company; I show up every 6 months to friendly faces! I highly recommend Dr. Boyer to anyone seeking great dental care. I wish her and her office staff the very best!

I had high hopes for this dental office when I first started going. At the time, I was living in…read morePetaluma and wanted to make the most of my benefits to stay on top of my dental health. My first visit went smoothly -- I had a cracked filling that was repaired without much issue, and it gave me a sense of confidence in the practice. That changed quickly. The doctor convinced me to place a crown on a tooth that had previously undergone a root canal. My prior dentist had been monitoring it and wasn't in a rush to do anything, but this provider made it sound like a necessary next step for my health. I trusted that advice. But from there, the entire experience became a mess. What should have been two appointments turned into four. I had to come back repeatedly because the temporary crowns kept cracking -- twice. Each time I tried to communicate that something felt off, that it was uncomfortable and gross to have a cracked piece in my mouth, I was met with attitude -- like I was an inconvenience. I wasn't being dramatic; I was just asking for care that should have been basic. What made it worse is that every visit felt rushed. I came in kind of urgently for the final crown because the temporary had come out again, and she barely looked me in the eye. While placing the permanent crown, she let dental debris and chemical dust fall on my face. At one point, she even grabbed my face abruptly. The whole interaction lacked any gentleness or bedside manner. Going to the dentist puts you in a vulnerable position -- you're literally lying down, mouth open, trusting that someone will care for you. After spending close to $2,000 with insurance, the bare minimum I expected was kindness and attention to detail. Instead, I was dismissed repeatedly when the temporaries fell apart, made to feel like I was a nuisance, and given treatment that felt rushed and careless. To top it off, all services must be paid for upfront, and despite the inconvenience and multiple return visits, there was no offer of compensation -- not even a basic toothbrush. And I was now driving close to 40 minutes each way after moving, just trying to get the work finished. I don't know if it's the materials she uses, but the quality felt low, and even now with the permanent crown in, it looks nice but I don't feel confident in the work. I honestly felt compelled to leave this review, which isn't something I normally do. But this was a stressful and disappointing experience -- and not one I would ever choose to go through again.

My wife and I have been patients at North Bay Smiles for several years and had generally positive…read moreexperiences with Dr. Szyperski and her team. However, we've decided to discontinue care. We initially chose NBS because they were in-network with our insurance. Over the past year, we began receiving bills for routine cleanings. After paying them, we followed up and were told our insurance denied coverage because the appointments were scheduled a few days prior to our next six-month eligibility window. NBS initially acknowledged this should have been caught when the appointments were scheduled. We understand that insurance coverage can be nuanced, but we also believe it's reasonable to expect an in-network provider to be familiar with a major insurance company's guidelines and help ensure their patients stay within coverage on something as routine as dental cleanings. We brought the issue up to Dr. Szyperski, and she immediately dismissed it as an insurance problem. The coverage rejection was framed as the insurance company being misleading, and there was no accountability or empathy for the nearly $500 we paid out of pocket for services that would normally be fully covered. She even went so far as to ask if we expected her to work for free and confusingly put it on us to decide if we wanted to pay the remaining balance or not (we did). We didn't necessarily enter the conversation looking for a refund or credit, but the lack of any ownership or empathy was disheartening. We don't intend to discourage anyone else from seeking treatment at North Bay Smiles--it was a solid dental practice for us up until that point, and I appreciated that they didn't recommend treatments unless they were absolutely necessary. But at the end of the day, I won't support a business that costs me money and doesn't appear to care.

I've always taken good care of my teeth but due to nighttime grinding, eventually had wear a mouth guard. Apparently I had a few teeth with cracks by that time and Dr. Mangrum told me I would need crowns so over the course of two years I had three crowns put on. One of them fell off within a few weeks of being put on. I returned to the office and they re-cemented it. A few months later it fell off again. At that point they told me I didn't have enough tooth length to hold onto the crown (I felt this should have been known from the beginning) and I needed a new procedure where they cut away some gum to lengthen the tooth. They made a new crown and when they cemented it in, they exerted the most pressure I have ever felt in my mouth. Two years later (and crowns typically last a lot longer than that) I developed a toothache around that crown, the first toothache I have ever had. I knew something was going on (I suspected an infection) so I made an appointment and went in. The dentist recommended that I see the endodontist (root canal guy) in their office so I went in again to see him. He didn't take a CT scan (common procedure I came to find out), and after tapping on my tooth and blowing air on it he pronounced me fine and told me to just keep an eye on it. A day or two later I was in so much pain, I knew it was infected and called the office to get a prescription for an antibiotic. I didn't want to return to this office since they had missed the infection so I found another dentist who could see me immediately. He took a CT scan and saw a raging infection. Referred me to an endodontist. She also took a CT scan and told me my tooth was unsalvageable, big infection, and needed to be extracted. I began this process and ended up with an implant. At this point I thought about writing an honest review of my experience but decided to leave it alone. My second bad experience- a month ago I was eating and felt something crunchy in my mouth. It was part of another crown Dr. Mangrum had done that just slid off the tooth. It was 2 1/2 years old so insurance won't cover a replacement. My current dentist saw me immediately and made me a new crown. I called Dr. Mangrum's office to talk about being reimbursed for this since it was a relatively short time since it been put on. I explained that I didn't want to return to her office to have it done because I had no confidence at this point in the work being done since having two fails. They denied my request for reimbursement, even partial, citing that they would have looked at it and might have decided to replace it at not cost to me, even though I fully explained why I wouldn't return to their office. Once trust and confidence are gone, it's hard to put yourself in that situation again. I almost never write a bad review. I don't know f I ever have, to be honest, but I felt so let down by this experience that I thought it was time.
