(Be warned that the rum is done in the Jamaican style and is an acquired taste -- it brings the funk. I love it. You may not.) A big shoutout to Tina, our tour guide. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the tour feel personal and easy to follow. She explained the distilling process in a way that was informative without being overwhelming, and her passion really showed. She kept things moving at a great pace while still making time for questions and conversation. Another special shoutout to Renee, the bartender. She was fantastic -- friendly, attentive, and clearly skilled at what she does. The tasting was smooth, well explained, and enjoyable, with Renee making sure everyone felt comfortable and taken care of while walking us through each pour. Between Tina's great tour and Renee's excellent service at the bar, the entire experience felt well run and memorable. If you enjoy quality spirits, good energy, and staff who genuinely care about your experience, 7 3 Distillery Company is absolutely worth a visit.

I always make a reservation so we never have any issues getting a table. Yesterday we arrived early so we sat at the bar waiting for our friends. I ordered the specialty frozen drink which was the Painkiller and it was delicious and had a kick! I'd definitely go back for that. My go to appetizers are the Lump Crab & Avocado Dip and the Brussel Sprouts. I am not a fan of Brussels sprouts but these are flash fried and seasoned perfectly. The wonton chips that come with the dip are the best I've ever had. This was my first time trying the Chicken and Biscuits and it did not disappoint although I couldn't eat much of it after the appetizers and my many vodka and cranberry juice care if the Bottomless bar. I was told they leave a carafe in the table now; however it's only if there are 8 people at the table??? Well I will still say it's a big waste of glasses to not leave a small carafe (one like wine comes in) for everyone who orders the Bottomless. We've always had friendly servers and a great time anytime we come here.

Great food, amazing drinks, and outstanding service from Quinton. We'll definitely be back!

I paid for the tour in advance and ended up adding the tasting while we were there. When we arrived, we received a nice big welcome from Brian. He escorted us inside and introduced their resident mixologist Ann, she was quite lovely and makes an excellent cocktail. Brian mentioned that he was waiting for a few more people to arrive, so mom and I ordered something off the menu. I selected the Gallagher, which consisted of fresh watermelon, cucumber, lime and your choice of their Crescent Vodka, 3rd Ward Gin, or Tresillo Rum. I chose the 3rd Ward Gin. The cocktail was very tasty and refreshing. Mom chose the Freudian Slip - Crescent Vodka, pear, honey, lemon, and basil. It was also incredibly good and both drinks were beautifully presented. I loved the décor of the tasting room. It was pretty with a relaxing atmosphere. While we waited, we had a nice conversation with Brian & Ann. I told Brian that I came to NOLA so I could watch the fireworks on the Mississippi and was sad when I found out that they had been canceled. Brian said, "Well, I just heard today that the show is back on because Will Smith paid for it to happen." Apparently Will Smith was in New Orleans filming a movie (Emancipation) and when he found out the city canceled the fireworks show due to lack of funding he stepped up and paid for it. I was so excited when I found out. I've always been a fan of Will's work but now even more so since he made my bucket list happen. When the other guests arrived, we were given a welcome cocktail to take with us on the tour. It consisted of the Tresillo Rum, some spices, coconut cream, and soda water. It was yummy. I could have drunk about 5 of them. Brian was an excellent tour guide - very entertaining and informative. Cajun Spirits is a family-owned business that was founded in 2010 by Gus Hank. Their spirits are crafted in custom copper stills and made with locally sourced ingredients including Louisiana sugarcane. After the tour it was time for the tasting. In front of us were 3 snifters: one with Crescent Vodka, another with 3rd Ward Gin, and the last with Tresillo Rum. There was also a small carafe of water and a dropper. Brian instructed us to take a sip of the vodka. Then add a drop of water with the dropper and sip again to taste the difference. The water helps to open the flavor profile. (They filter their water on the premises.) When the tasting was over it was time for the grand finale - a complimentary cocktail called NOLA Rose. (Which happens to be my mom's nickname) It was delicious! Ann really is an amazing mixologist. I'm so happy I found this place. I definitely recommend the tour & tasting and also come for the cocktails, which are a steal at $8. They also have food trucks and live music on certain nights so visit their webpage for a schedule of events.

After figuring out how to get into the building I was led into what almost looks like my old chemistry teachers lab for a product tasting. Regrettably they were out of the rice whiskey but fortunately they did have the Toulouse Red available and I tried that along with the Absinthe Verte and their gins. I love the small feel of the place and that it seems to be in an art collaborative. I wish more of the other spaces in the place had been open, there were some interesting looking spots. I look forward to my next visit there so I can finally try the whiskey but I walked out with a bottle of the Toulouse Red to add to my collection. As an aside if you want to see the wormwood that goes into their absinthe just walk out back and you can see it growing onsite!

So the entire time of the tour, I could not wait to get back to the tasting area and try it out. From the very first sip, I fell in love with this stuff, bought 2 bottles to go back to MD. It didn't take long to finish those, so I actually ordered 3 more to be shipped to me. Since they wouldn't ship alcohol to MD, I scheduled them to be delivered near our WV cabin, so what do they do?? They shipped them, but I still actually had to go to CUMBERLAND, MD to pick up the box!!! Anyway, every year on our trips to New Orleans, we'd stop by the distillery and buy at least 3 cases of Gingeroo, and I still have a few botles left, but it'll really be a sad day when that last bottle is opened. Most of my friends do not see what's to like about Gingeroo and they can't understand just why I love this stuff - I get teased a lot about it, but, hey, not everyone likes the same things. Due to their fire and closing of distillery, I will always be upset at myself for not buying more cases. The owner is an artist, and a very good one at that, so I guess he's just wanting to concentrate on that. But, I will always be so sad that the distillery is no longer open.
