We purchased a Groupon on a whim because we love rum. The tour offers a free shuttle not far from the French Quarter. Our tour guide/driver Bob was fun, provided lots of history on the rum making process, and afterwards we sampled about 6 rums. I'm glad they bounced back post Katrina. They use activated charcoal to remove impurities from the rum...which was the first major lesson I learned here. Bob was very informative and We left with a lot of knowledge. We bought the gingeroo, which was quite spicy and the Cajun spiced Rum. Quality rum at good prices.

Gingeroo produced by this rum distillery. Very fizzy and gingery.

3.5 Stars While I did like this place, I think because of its current ratings I expected it to be awesome, and it was really just okay. I highly recommend going when the temperature is cooler outside, because otherwise you will sweat non-stop. If you purchase a ticket and pay extra, they will pick you up at the the French Market in their shuttle. Definitely do this, because the place would be extremely hard to find on your own. The semi-surly (and late) bus driver surprisingly turned out to be our host for the event. You walk into the tiny main office, with only a wall unit to cool it off, and he gets busy making your first drink - either a punch or tea with their rum. Then he makes assorted drinks and starts giving you the history of rum and how it got to NOLA. When he asks questions, shout out the correct answer, and an extra drink will be yours! Then we did the tour, which was going into their non-air conditioned warehouse, and following him around for 15 minutes as he showed all the processing steps. Interesting, but hot. Back in for the tastings, finally! He was really, really, really pushing the Cajun Spice rum; however, I only liked the Gingeroo because it was both sweet and fizzy. My favorite part was actually the original art displayed on the walls by the one of the owners - his name is James Michalopoulos, and he is incredibly talented.

Everywhere I go I'm always looking for a good rum tour. I mean rum is life. I was excited to find Old New Orleans Rum. Booked the tour online before I arrived to the city. There an option to also book a complementary shuttle, $15. If you're staying in the French Quarters I recommend it. The bus picks up behind the Organic Banana in the French Market. Our shuttle bus driver was also the tour guide. As we walked in we were greeted with cocktails. This is the kind of welcome I like! We got a history of the company, liquor in the US, and New Orleans. Then toured of the facilities. At the end we got to taste all the rums. Of course you can buy and the rums of souvenirs. There's also the option to ship the bottles home.

Our One Brick Builds group had an amazing time on this tour! Many thanks to the One Brick NOLA members who set it up for us -- it was truly a memorable experience! Upon arriving for our 4 PM tour on Friday, we were welcomed with a Cajun Spice Ice Tea and then the trivia began! If you answer the question correctly first, you get another cocktail (another Cajun Spice Ice Tea or Gingeroo). I'm happy to say I got 3 of them right. Once we're all feeling good, we leave the tasting room to see the barrels & machinery. Bob was an awesome guide who expertly kept everyone focused, even those on the tour who had already had a bit too much to drink. He explained the history of the distillery, including showing us the Katrina water line and explaining that 15% of their stock was lost due to flooding. We learned so much about the distilling process and gained a new appreciation for rum and the Old New Orleans method. All of this learning makes you thirsty! So we reentered the tasting room to find samples lined up for us. Bob went through each one to explain a bit about the rum we were about to sample. We got to try a divine platinum-awarded rum as well as the amber, cajun spice, 1818, and Gingeroo. These guys really make a great product! And their model is effective: get everyone tipsy & happy and then sell them things! I ordered a bottle of the Amber to be shipped to my dad, the rum lover in our family. I also got a cool magnet, which is made out of a barrel stopper! Another cool offering is that if you buy a flask, they'll fill it up for you for free. All of the staff was so cool and really knows their stuff. Bob even dropped us off at our desired location on Frenchmen St. afterward. This is a tour and an experience that no rum (or fun) lover should miss!

5 stars for the best rum tasting tour I've ever been on! We decided to try this place out and made it to the last tour of the day at 4 pm. The tour cost $15 per person. We started the tour with a trivia game where anytime we answered a question correctly we were rewarded with a drink. A lot of it was history related and let's just say the boyfriend was winning by a long shot (he's such a nerd and I love it). I've done many others tours before and it was a fun interactive way to start out. The location itself is on the small side. Our tour guide Bob was very knowlegable and answered all of our questions. He was open to hearing our opinions on other rums or liquiors. We walked through the back area of see how the rums are barreled, how the alcohol is made and the bottling process. I can't believe all the different labels created on these bottles. I liked how the label is more similar now so that it's easily recognizable in the store but adding a little different art on the back label. I really enjoyed the spiced rum, much better than Captian Morgan. My close second would be the Gingeroo, even better if you mix them together! All around one of my favorite tours I've been on, I definitely recommend a visit!

Heads, tails and plenty of hearts! Great rum tour located on the outskirts of downtown NOLA. The tour included all parts of the distillation process and all about the barreling process. Our tour guide was great and he was very knowledgeable about the process. We also tasted about 6 different rums at the end of the tour! We also bought 2 bottles-which they packed well for our flight home! Shuttle service also provided to and from with pickup in the French Quarter.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us details about the making of the rum and it's history...he also gave us plenty of liquor to drink which made the experience that much better.

I have never been to a rum distillery before, so when I saw that there was a rum distillery in New Orleans, I had to check it out. My significant other and I took a Lyft from downtown New Orleans to get here. Yes, they offer a shuttle if you want to go that route as well from the French Market and you can book it online or call in if you want to. We just wanted to do a tasting since the majority of alcohol is produced in a similar fashion and opted not to do a tour. We went on a Tuesday afternoon so it was pretty relaxing inside. We started off with a cocktail then had sample of all of their different rums and of course, their Gingeroo. I thought all of them were very unique and potent, in a good way, especially the newly released Gris Gris. My favorite was the Amber though. Overall, if you want to travel to the oldest rum distillery in the United States then this is it. The tastings were great and were $7.50 each. Our guide through our tasting was very knowledgeable and entertaining throughout.

Rum-A-Rama-Thon! SITREP Coming to this historic site made me feel a bit like an old Conquistador on a quest with the famous Spaniard, Ponce de Leon, searching for the "Fountain of Youth" in the New World. And in a way, we succeeded, for we found what we searched for: an original well-spring for RUM @ The Old New Orleans Rum Distillery itself! THE SETUP If coming from the French Quarter, I would make sure to drive the distance, or at least take the bus, but it's a long walk other. The Rum Distillery is in a hood surrounded by some dilapidated buildings that really took a pounding from Hurricane Katrina, and it shows. During the Rum Distillery tour, our guide pointed out on a few different occasions at different locations throughout the building where the watermarks were for where the flooding had completely immersed everything beyond eight (8) feet above ground-level here, which is pretty high ground as it were here in NOLA period. THE RUM VARIETALS I sampled all their rums, all delicious with their own character. I went from the silver to the Cajun Spiced, to the super smooth aged blue label, all before the tour even started: * Their Silver Blend - knows as "Crystal" - she is the youngest & cleanest with no Oak Barrel aging - and interestingly enough, my favorite - and the one I purchased at $17 for the bottle. * The 3 Year, which is a delicious blend and very very smooth, with a deeper taste. * The 10 Year, which had a delicious oaky and smokey taste to it and probably still worth it at $55, but a bit beyond what I was willing to spend for a bottle of rum - and to be honest, at this price I'd rather spend it on a bottle of Cognac Brandy. THE TOUR ON RUM MAKING The 70-80 minute tour was a lot of fun and it allowed me to get answers about the art of rum-making: (1) From it's fermentation process with the hops, (2) The cleaning process and getting rid of acetone, (3) The very colorful bottles that package the rum for sale; and, (4) The interesting history of this particular distillery's successes AND failures since they were all out for us to see. It was interesting to note one prototype bottle that was sitting out there for all to see labeled "Jalapeno / Anaheim" - one could only wonder what kind of Frankenstein'esque concoction this was intended as! All in all, it was a grand time and I got quite a few pictures to show along with the very interesting dialogue about this exciting history of rummery. THE LOWDOWN This distillery is a fun stop for any trip to NOLA and it provides a delightful rum tour showing the process from beginning to end.

There was a hidden agenda we had for visiting this place. See, I lived down the block of this place 30 years ago and low and behold there's a distillery. It's meant to be! We booked a tour on line for $15 p/p and it was certainly worth it. On a hot summer day at 2:15pm we were greeted with black tea spiked with spice rum. So refreshing I had two cups and the tour hadn't started (don't judge, after all look at where we are at!) Bob, the tour guide was phenomenal. He opened up the tour with trivia questions mainly about rum and about how Old New Orleans came to be. The person answering the question correctly got a shot of one of their rums. So if you're good at trivia you'll be buzzed 10 minutes after it starting :) Bob took us through the processing of the different kinds of rum, how the location withstood Katrina and how it continues today with various samplings of their batches. It was a very nice experience I would recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans. After all, it's a part of history! BTW, their rum tastes fantastic and VERY reasonably priced. Take a look at few photos I took, you'll enjoy it :)

I have done many distillery tours and they all vary so I have learned one thing, do not have any expectations. We paid about $12 for the tour. Make sure you go online and book, they sell out on weekends. The main setback to this company and I hope they work on this is that we bought our tickets online with a shuttle from the French Quarter but never got an email, phone call or text as to where or what time the shuttle would pick us up. We called for 2 days in a row before our tour and never got a live person to answer our question. At least leave it on the machine guys. Needless to say, we paid extra and Ubered here. FYI our driver said it was in a very bad part of town (aren't all distilleries though?) so don't wander off. I can't be mad that when we arrived they had a sweet tea rum concoction waiting for us. We drank as much as we wanted and as we waited patiently for all the people on the tour to arrive. Bob was our tour guide. What sweet man. He clearly enjoys the tour and teaching everyone about the rum process. We got to see the distillery process, bottling and even learned how they survived Katrina. It was very informative and fun. I enjoyed tasting all of the different rums at the end of the tour.

We had a lot of fun simply because the tour guide, Bob, was charming, informative, and made learning about rum fun! The tasting was a bonus - each rum flavor we tasted had it's own unique flavor and kick. All of them were delicious! The only con would be that it was pretty hot during the tour, and I wish I would have seen the complimentary fans before we started. Rum + heat = sweat! However, our tour guide was mindful and the tour didn't take long enough to make us uncomfortably hot. I'd definitely still recommend this tour to friends! We purchased our tour on Groupon - such a great deal!

If you are looking to taste rum, learn about it and tour the distillery then I'd definitely recommend stopping here. It's kinda off the beaten path and it wasn't crowded both times I've been in here. An Uber ride from the French Quarter area is definitely worth it and inexpensive. The tour was very educational and interesting. The tastings were smooth. One thing that stands out to me and makes this place unique is the gingeroo and other ready made cocktails they bottle and sell. All the ones I tasted were delicious! Our recent visit we picked up a bottle of special edition 1718 tricentennial blend and it was also smooth.

Is the tasting room still closed? If so, can we stop by on the days open to purchase bottles? Is the 25th year Anniversary batch still available?

As of 9/22/24, the tasting room is still closed due to the fire and no tours are available for booking through the end of this year.

We meet up at the Voodoo Lounge, where there is a ticket office in the back room. We didn't live the bar--smelled a little bit like a sewer and the hurricanes were super sweet and kind of weak. But we did have but one get one, so wasn't that upset. The tour was great. We saw some interesting, haunted places and heard the history behind them. We didn't linger too long at any one place. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny, although he may have been a tad bit too heavy on the Catholic Church jokes. The tour ended at the LaLaurie house, and our guide shared a story about a little girl on who was recently on his tour who started crying and asked why there were dead people on the balcony. Spooky! I was so intrigued by what he said that I started looking up stories about Delphine LaLaurie and the haunting of the house. When I got home, I even started watching season 3 of American Horror Story, which has the character Delphine LaLaurie (accurate? No. Fun? Yes!). This was a fun way to spend the evening. There was an obnoxiously drunk guy on our tour, and our guide handled him well.

She came across like an overly dramatic theater kid who couldn't dial it back. Her mannerisms and constant theatrics were cringey, and while maybe one or two stories had potential, the delivery completely ruined them. She would randomly go off on personal tangents (where she lives, her parents, and other irrelevant details) that had absolutely nothing to do with ghosts or vampires and added nothing to the experience. The worst part was her points system, where she'd give out points if people followed instructions or answered questions. For example, when we stayed on the sidewalk instead of walking in the street, she'd shout "10 points!" and point at each person while repeating it. It wasn't quirky or fun, it was just annoying. I wouldn't recommend this tour based on her alone. After our awful experience we tried another company called Nola Ghost Riders and I'd highly recommend them. As requested, I will keep the individual location names secret as to not spoil your potential food tour but also because the stops can change and I don't want to have you disappointed if you don't get the same places on your tour. Ty was a great guide, providing us with local history and culture as we ate our way down Magazine Street. The only complaint I have is that they didn't really interact with us during the food portions, standing or sitting off to the side, or running to the next location to make sure we were all set. To me, the guide should be not only the bridge between the locations and food with us, but also a bridge between the different groups on the tour. Ty told us before the tour started that the other folks joining us were from Michigan, but we found out from them later that they were actually from New York. Had these connections been made earlier, it would have enhanced the tour. On to the food, wonderful that it all was! Please note that I may make some errors in the actual names of the food, while I took pictures, I did not write down the names and there wasn't a post-tour recap to assist me! Stop #1: A local sandwich and a seafood side. Both quite good, especially since I don't like olives! Stop #2: An unusual meat that was shockingly good! Stop #3: Seafood options. I've had a different version of one of these items in Asheville, NC. This wasn't quite as good but still tasty. Stop #4: Southern favorites that were so good! I didn't think I would like these but I did. Stop #5: A peppermint fudge cupcake. Sadly, the weakest stop on the tour. Other that tried the gelato came away disappointed and my cupcake was neither overly fudgey or pepperminty. It looked pretty, though!
