We got a deal on the tour through Groupon, and we were looking forward to the it. First problem occurred when owner asked where we were from and then proceeded to tell us that he got a girl "knocked up" there and had to spend a fortune to get custody of his daughter. We went from there to how he at one point was the largest grower of alfalfa hay in the country and had so many acres of hay. Then how he had had over so many millions in back but then the FDIC closed the bank and he lost everything and how he got the brewery and how he was a Lyft driver in Las Vegas for a couple years and how so many famous people come in etc. he was very adamant about name dropping, The Maloofs, marine captain, musical people, Mark Cuban, sports stars, etc. He showed us the back room and barrel area for a few minutes and then said well I'll let the bar girl do the pours because she is better. The girl was nice enough but got mixed up which couples wanted to try which drink and then it was awkward. The 1933 vodka and the pickle vodka were good. His phone rang and he went to talk and then the bar person just kind of walked away, so after a while we went ahead and left. I took my Wife, Mom and Dad here for a tour and tasting. Everything we tried was good and some were excellent. However, the experience was what made it all great. The staff was amazing and made us feel like we were in the backyard drinking with friends. We are local and like to day trip in state. Came here over spring brea for a distillery tour (highly recommend). Greeted by George who made us a Pineapple mojito (mmm) and an old fashioned (nice) before the tour started. Allison gave the detailed tour and we tried bourbon, rum and vodka. There were so many varieties! We purchased the Cattle Bourbon, Vanilla Coffee vodka and another vodka, Gay Pride. They had an extensive knowledge of alcohol and suggested / came up with some AMAZING cocktails. Blue- guided our tour was also amazing! Blue let us know about the history, intentionality and the why behind everything which I appreciated. Lastly, it was clean inside and outside and that's something I always look for when I am going to be eating or drinking somewhere. The vibe here was super chill which I loved. It's definitely a little more than a hop, skip and a jump from downtown and as a tourist with no wheels I did wonder if the trek was worth it. It was! We got the St. Charles Streetcar to Peniston and walked down Peniston to the distillery - about 10 mins along pleasant, quiet streets with cute traditional houses to gawk at along the way. The tour is a short one around the warehouse, but the story behind the owner and the original bourbon whiskey (and now all the other stuff they make) is worth listening to. I don't do straight-up liquor and I'm not a bourbon person (quite frankly the visit was 99% for my hubby who loves the stuff), but I did have a gin and tonic afterwards with their house NOLA sweet potato gin. O.M.G. So good! I have so much gin at home that I had no business buying another bottle... but I did. If you're lucky enough to have George as your bartender - he's the bomb. read more

I had an unforgettable time on the GROUPON tour here! Our guide, Sam, was a powerhouse of knowledge, humor, and charm. He took us through the distilling process like a pro, sharing stories about their award-winning whiskeys. One of the best tales was about the challenge they faced in creating a "cowboy-flavored" whiskey. It wasn't easy, but their inventive solution brought out unique flavors that ended up winning major acclaim. We got to try some truly unique flavors, including the pickle-flavored whiskey - surprisingly delicious! My friend grabbed a couple of bottles, and as a former bartender, she whipped up a "pickle whiskey sour" that was tangy, citrusy, and perfectly paired with the dill kick. Sam was an incredible guide, especially considering he was recovering from a rabid kitten attack he heroically tried to rescue off the clock in his neighborhood. Apparently, he had successfully rescued 4 over the years. If you're looking for a tour that's informative, fun, and full of personality, this is a must-try. Sam made it all the more memorable! I'm writing this review mainly from a shirt experience. I learned that they were selling hand sanitizer. I contacted via text messages with one of the employees to insure that there would be some when I got there because I do live 20 miles away. They were extremely kind and accommodating. I felt like that wetter really supportive to my needs and concerns during the COVID-19 crisis especially after explaining I have a 2 year old I'm trying to keep safe. When I walked in the place look extremely clean and inviting. I passed by some of their liquor that was in the shelf and decided to grab a bottle of the orange. Update: even more unprofessional! NOLA responded that their power and phone were out as the reason for standing our tour group up. Makes sense except we could see power was on in their window and a FedEx guy showed up while we sat outside. He was able to call them on the phone to ask where to leave their packages. Always a good policy if you make a mistake to just admit it. Lying only makes it worse. At least that's what my mother taught me. read more

Got the distillery tour on a Groupon and it was worth it. We got the tour and a shot. We wanted to get the one that included the bottle but because we only had carryon bags we passed it up. The bartender (dark hair lady with glasses) was cool as hell. She welcomed us and had plenty of conversation. She gave us some good places fo eat and some things to do while we were in the city. The tour was nice and informative. It was cool to learn about production of the spirits I enjoy. During the tour we got some samples of the spirits. Kyle, our guide, answered our groups questions and shared with us some of his experiments with infusing the flavors vodka. Where do I begin? New Orleans is one of our favorite places to go on a quick road trip. We were here last weekend. We enjoy visiting distilleries when we come. We saw this one on Groupon and decided to try it. You have to make a reservation for their tour times on Saturdays (1 or 4). You can not input your Groupon code online, so I called and spoke to one of the nice bartenders who added us to their 1pm tour list. Parking is no problem. As long as there is no parade, you can park across the street or right in front. They had a nice young lady there who sells food under the tent with music playing. Upon entry, it's a nice bar set up and the two bartenders were very pleasant. Well, the owner, Jerry gave the group the tour of the distillery. He was a very cool dude, very sociable. He told us a quick background about himself and how he got into the distillery business. We enjoyed the tour and our course the end where the tasting began. He was not stingy at all with the samples. We were allowed to sample whatever we wanted. Our favorite was the vodka trilogy (celery, bell peppers, and onions). A very smooth vodka too. We also tried the other flavors of vodka and some moonshine. We tried 6 different samples not including the rum. We decided to bookmark this place because we definitely will be returning to try some signature drinks. *The Groupon included a bottle of vodka to take home. No disappointment there. We came in on Saturday for the 4pm tour. It had begun pouring rain not long before and the staff were kind enough to give everyone an extra 15 minutes to arrive for the tour due to weather. Our group had cocktails while we waited and they were delicious! Allyson led our distillery tour and she was absolutely fantastic. She was knowledgeable as well as entertaining and was a delight to talk to after the tour. The spirits tasted great too! We picked up a bottle of rum to enjoy at home and definitely plan to make more purchases from NOLA Distillery in the future which will hopefully also involve stopping in for a cocktail! read more

Great energy and yummy cocktails on opening night! Tonight NOLA Distilling opened it's doors and really delivered. It was a great evening with amazing energy and lots of people. Currently, they are serving vodka mixed drinks, daiquiris, and jello shots. I haven't had vodka in a loooong time (reminds me too much of undergrad), but their drinks were actually very yummy! I tried a few of my friends' drinks before settling on the Aguas Picantes, very refreshing and not too sweet. We also had the daiquiri, citrus blast, and shrub. They were all good, but my favorite was the Aguas Picantes for sure. The daiquiri definitely had a kick, pretty tart. And the shrub was unoffensive, but too complex for me to appreciate in the few sips I had. Their vodka was pretty smooth and the drinks were mixed well. Be careful because the alcohol will sneak up on you. The atmosphere was nice and casual. Everyone was friendly. The decor is minimal right now. From the outside looking in, the bar area has the potential to look upscale and lounge-like, with the tall, dark red ceilings, long bar, and high-top tables with black table cloths. But I'm not really sure what ambiance they will settle on and seems like they may want a more casual and social atmosphere. There are two large windows that peer into the distillery. They were offering free tours today. Lucky us! David gave a great tour and explained the process very clearly. It is pretty complex and I think I'd have to do the tour a few more times to really appreciate all the details. I love that their vodka is made from Louisiana grown sweet potatoes and the distilling waste is given to local pig farmers. I'm really looking forward to their pepper vodka, made with cayenne peppers. I love anything with a little spice! Gin and whiskey are on the horizon as well! They had two food trucks today and I assume they will continue to have food trucks in the future. There is outdoor and indoor seating. The merchandise is super cute (love the trucker hats). Improvements can be made by putting trash cans outside and considering spoon straws for their daiquiris. Otherwise, assuming the energy, spirit and quality of the cocktails remain consistent, I'm giving NOLA Distilling four stars! read more
