    Pecan infusion in rum
    Prathyusha S.

We booked a rum distillery tour here through Airbnb. We did not know what to expect but we were met with the most pleasant surprises. The place is a cute homely hidden gem with the nicest of hosts. We had a 1.5 hour tour of the history of the place, the owners, the distillery in the back, the process all while sipping an amazing locally distilled drink. The nice thing about their rum is that it is made in the Cuban style so the rum is quite tasty and authentic. We even got to taste fresh rum as it was being distilled at the back. The tour ends with a flight of flavored rum shots. It was so heavenly and smooth. Our host CJ was such a delight. She was so friendly and we all bonded so well with each other. Fun fact - she's really good at guessing people's sun signs ;) she is gifted!! We all had so much fun with her. We were told that they host events at the place too so definitely something to check out if you're in town.

Me and my beat friend's wedding party' visited Happy Raptor today for a distillery tour. For 15 bucks, you get a complimentary drinks, a bunch of shots and an awesome history lesson about the distillery. The inside is beautifully decorated and has the feel of an auto shop. The staff is extremely friendly and offers suggestions for drinks. I tried the punch and the Arnold Palmer. The drinks were very strong and after two just two drinks, I was tipsy. If you are visiting the New Orleans areas and are in search of something to do for you an your travel buddies, take a trip over to Happy Raptor and participate in a tour.

Owners are the sweetest!!! So generous! Their hibiscus lemonade and pain killer are delish! Very family friendly and even have baby changing tables in the restrooms!

My team at work did an event at Happy Raptor, and it was really cool. We started by ordering a drink off their normal menu and just socializing as everyone arrived. I got the Hibiscus Rum Lemonade (which was a frozen drink). It was very good (but I am a sucker for a good frozen drink). While we waited there were also board games / card games that we played. Next we went on a tour of the distillery. It was cool. They would let you try the rum at all stages of the distilling process. And at the end we got to have 5 samples of the different types of rum. Last phase of our event was we did a cocktail making class. They showed us how to make Old Fashioned's and Mojito's. Both of which were good. (I felt like most people liked the Old Fashioned, but I preferred the Mojito since I like a fruitier drink). Overall this was a cool place (and a very cool type of event if you need a group function). Only drawbacks to consider... 1. Parking is only street parking (don't try and park in the lot next door, that's only for the place next door). 2. They don't do food. But you're right by St Charles, so if you need food you just may have to walk / drive that direction.

I am excited for this new find! The bartenders were so lovely and helpful. They told us about their rum and let us sample some. We ended up getting a cocktail which was delicious, so tasty, and buying a bottle of their hibiscus rum. The bottle is beauuuuutiful. I can't get over how pretty the label is. I love their rum, but also that it is made locally and with Louisiana ingredients. Their physical space is nice to visit. They had outdoor seating on the sidewalk and in their back courtyard. I have seen they also will partner and have food popups to enjoy. I hope they are here to stay!

Wow, to say that I was impressed with our visit would be an understatement! My husband and I made an appointment to pick up a bottle of rum and a to-go cocktail while we were in New Orleans for a short visit. The owner, Mark, met us at the door and offered us a tasting of their current rum and drink offerings, and even a couple of drinks that weren't released yet! Everything was phenomenal, and we ended up purchasing an extra bottle of the hibiscus rum as well! The rum was delicious, and makes a fantastic gift as well! If you're in the area, I highly recommend making an appointment. For drinks, the hibiscus lemonade and rum punch were especially good! We will definitely make this a stop on our next trip!

Was happy to be able to visit Happy Raptor again. Even though it was post Mardi Gras I got a drink with their King Cake rum. It was delicious and the bartender even tweaked it a little for me since I told him I preferred drinks that weren't too sweet, so he left the simple syrup out. They're now partnering with different food trucks/pop ups (Nola Sliders was setting up while we were there), so I'm looking forward to going back when we haven't had lunch and are looking for great drinks.

Rum old fashioned flight (hibiscus, sweet potato and banana - left to right)
    Karleigh W.

Cute place and very nice people but the drinks were just OK. It was $19 for the (rum) old fashioned flight, which was basically 3 full-sized cocktails. They do tours for $15 per person, which is somewhat of a good deal because it includes a cocktail, and they run about $12 anyways.

What a wonderful experience! Alex was absolutely amazing! We signed up for a tour on our visit to New Orleans. Started off with a wonderful drink for each guest. Then we went in the back to learn more about their process. From there, we got to taste their rums and their flavored simple syrups. I'm not a fan of rum but this was all delicious. It shows how good things can be when you taste the real thing. Well worth the money. Changed my mind about rum! Highly recommended!

My boyfriend and I went on the distillery tour and then took the cocktail class and it was one of our favorite things we did in New Orleans! Nia was our tour guide and Ava our teacher and both were excellent!! Super friendly staff who knew a lot about the distillation process and the business's history. The tour was quick, but informative and we got to taste all the rums and syrups, as well as an included signature cocktail. The class was only 7 people and was super fun and intimate. We made two cocktails and learned about the history of each. We also took home a bottle of the bananas foster rum and two bottles of their delicious praline syrup. Happy Raptor is easily accessible by street car from the French Quarter and there's several yummy lunch/dinner places in the area. Definitely make sure you stop here on your next trip!

The bartenders/experience curators Logan and Nicky were phenomenal. It was a very interesting experience with a lot of great rum. I bought two bottles after the tasting. I'd definitely recommend to a friend and I can't wait to see how they continue to grow and expand in the future.

    Rum old fashioned
    Jordan L.

Just starting out and already looking polished. It's a spacious location, but still feels intimate. Decor is great. The owners and employees are a delight to talk to and are passionate about their product. Their rum offerings have something for any taste. I like their rum old fashioned, but I also had some of their hibiscus mixed drinks that I enjoyed. They're located near some of my favorite restaurants so pre and post drinks I highly recommend. If you don't like rum then I don't know what to say, except try their rum? If you don't like it then you can sleep well knowing you really don't like rum. I will be back and I hope they keep adding to the lineup. Ps. Sneaky rum to try if you don't like rum is their banana. I think I could sip on that in a high ball glass all day.

Such a great place to have drinks and learn about New Orleans! We got the tour via Airbnb, and stayed after to learn more about the different cocktails and New Orleans. The distillery is indoors, so it's the perfect activity for a rainy day or honestly any day. I definitely recommend visiting!

We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.

Booking was surprisingly easy, and even after changing the reservation multiple times, I was still able to find availability at most of my preferred times. The only thing I couldn't secure was indoor seating. Since this was during a rainy December, I wasn't thrilled about being seated outside on the back patio. When we arrived, we asked if there was any possibility of moving indoors, but unfortunately nothing was available. They did have heaters outside, though there's only so much that can be done when it's cold and raining. The menu is fascinating and very creatively laid out. I ordered the Sazerac, and my husband got another cocktail along with some food. The drinks were good, but I did find them a little overhyped ,though that may simply have come down to my choice of drink. My feeling is that when a bar is ranked among the best in the world, every cocktail on the menu should feel exceptional especially classics . I would still consider it a worthwhile experience overall. The service leaned slightly pretentious, which we weren't particularly fond of, and ultimately we decided not to stay for another round. Realistically, I'd probably rate it closer to three stars, but some of the downsides may have just been circumstantial, so four stars feels fair.

While the Sazerac wasn't invented here, this is arguably its most iconic home, a place where New Orleans cocktail history comes to life. I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. The murals, the history, and the energy of the room give it a sense of occasion that you do not get at most bars. Atmosphere/Appearance: It's EXTREMELY BUSY and very loud in here. Lol. As mentioned above, the bar is located inside the hotel so once you walk in through the front door you enter the lobby then head to the right. It's a first-come, first-serve situation (at least it was for us at the time). So of course, the carousel bar is the highlight. It's a slow rotating bar rail and it's adorable. Lol. Almost the entire bar is eyeing any available spots so you have to be quick, but be respectful. However, there are tables and such sprinkled throughout the bar where you can hangout at as you stalk the actual carousel. My wife and I sat in the window which made for some excellent people watching. Lol. Eventually after what felt like an hour or we did spot some spots on the carousel, my wife held them for me as I closed the check then finally got to sit... and SPIN! The bar completes a full revolution every 15 minutes so you definitely won't get dizzy. Service: We had no issues here whatsoever. The staff is just super busy all over the place, but they didn't miss a beat. Food: For my first drink I checked out their Oaxacan Midnight which was like a tequila play on the Old Fashioned. It was delicious, a bit lighter than an Old Fashioned, but certainly stood on it's own. For our first appetizer bar bite we tried the Blue Crab & Corn Beignet which didn't come out as I was expecting. Lol. I'm not mad, I just pictured the big, fluffy things from Cafe Du Monde, but maybe stuffed with goodies! These were more like fritter than I absolutely loved so much I ordered a 2nd plate. Lastly we tried the BBQ Shrimp which was grilled to perfection with a good snap, excellent flavor and good char along with a tangy, cream sauce on top. Value: It's pricey. Food and drinks were decent, but a SMIDGE overpriced, but... they know you're going to pay because you're on vacation, you're a tourist and you wanna be in this novelty bar. Lol. Regardless, I had a blast and you can say you did too whenever you check this place out! In conclusion, I've now been there, done that. Lol. I don't have to do it again, but if you're in the area, check this place out. It's a good time.
