We decided to do the hour tour of the distillery. It was $15 for the tour, a flight of 4 different rums, and a drink of your choice. The drinks were $12 so the tour was at an amazing price point. Our host CJ was incredibly funny and personable and walked us through the history of the founding of the distillery and how their rum was made. We got to dip our fingers in their bacteria batches for a taste and sample the bananas they put into their banana foster rum. We got the Vietnamese frozen coffee, hibiscus hurricane, and rum punch. They were all super tasty, my favorites were the coffee and rum punch. Highly recommend stopping by for great drinks and the tour if you have time. This place was across from our Airbnb and so we had to check it out. The place is small but so inviting. The bartender was super friendly and helpful. They have cocktails, frozen drinks and open air distilled rums. We had a rum flight and my husband had the rum lemonade and i had the hurricane. Of the flight, the banana and kings cake were so delicious because of their uniqueness. It's a place that looks like we could be a regular. They have a happy hour and limited hours but when they're open, there is almost always people enjoying their rum drinks. Happy Raptor is a cute, repurposed garage. They offer tours, have pleasant staff. The tours can accommodate about 15 people per group. They have cute & yummy drink ideas which feature all their Happy Raptor mixes, rums and spirits. Challenge is that they do not have AC and in a windowless garage it's pretty unbearably hot even in early May. Other thing that wasn't a total fit for us is that neither of the frozen drinks were available--Vietnamese Coffee and the signature Strawberry Fields. So we enjoyed what we got but it wasn't what we really wanted. I would pop by again if I'm in the area. There's free street parking but the community is under renovation and several nearby streets are unpaved. read more

Went on a bike ride yesterday and on our way back we happened upon Happy Raptor with CJ behind the bar. If your visiting and enjoy Rum, this is your place! They use fresh juices and in-house made bitters, and CJ knows just how to use them! She was an absolute delight to visit with, she gave us food recommendations - both cheap and good choices! I know she's at least a 4th generation New Orleanian! Could be more but it's as far as we got in that conversation. She is charming and skilled! Me and my beat friend's wedding party' visited Happy Raptor today for a distillery tour. For 15 bucks, you get a complimentary drinks, a bunch of shots and an awesome history lesson about the distillery. The inside is beautifully decorated and has the feel of an auto shop. The staff is extremely friendly and offers suggestions for drinks. I tried the punch and the Arnold Palmer. The drinks were very strong and after two just two drinks, I was tipsy. We booked a rum distillery tour here through Airbnb. We did not know what to expect but we were met with the most pleasant surprises. The place is a cute homely hidden gem with the nicest of hosts. We had a 1.5 hour tour of the history of the place, the owners, the distillery in the back, the process all while sipping an amazing locally distilled drink. The nice thing about their rum is that it is made in the Cuban style so the rum is quite tasty and authentic. We even got to taste fresh rum as it was being distilled at the back. The tour ends with a flight of flavored rum shots. It was so heavenly and smooth. Our host CJ was such a delight. She was so friendly and we all bonded so well with each other. Fun fact - she's really good at guessing people's sun signs ;) she is gifted!! We all had so much fun with her. I am excited for this new find! The bartenders were so lovely and helpful. They told us about their rum and let us sample some. We ended up getting a cocktail which was delicious, so tasty, and buying a bottle of their hibiscus rum. The bottle is beauuuuutiful. I can't get over how pretty the label is. I love their rum, but also that it is made locally and with Louisiana ingredients. Their physical space is nice to visit. They had outdoor seating on the sidewalk and in their back courtyard. My team at work did an event at Happy Raptor, and it was really cool. We started by ordering a drink off their normal menu and just socializing as everyone arrived. I got the Hibiscus Rum Lemonade (which was a frozen drink). It was very good (but I am a sucker for a good frozen drink). While we waited there were also board games / card games that we played. Next we went on a tour of the distillery. It was cool. They would let you try the rum at all stages of the distilling process. And at the end we got to have 5 samples of the different types of rum. Last phase of our event was we did a cocktail making class. They showed us how to make Old Fashioned's and Mojito's. Both of which were good. (I felt like most people liked the Old Fashioned, but I preferred the Mojito since I like a fruitier drink). Overall this was a cool place (and a very cool type of event if you need a group function). Only drawbacks to consider... 1. Parking is only street parking (don't try and park in the lot next door, that's only for the place next door). 2. They don't do food. But you're right by St Charles, so if you need food you just may have to walk / drive that direction. read more

Wow, to say that I was impressed with our visit would be an understatement! My husband and I made an appointment to pick up a bottle of rum and a to-go cocktail while we were in New Orleans for a short visit. The owner, Mark, met us at the door and offered us a tasting of their current rum and drink offerings, and even a couple of drinks that weren't released yet! Let's talk about service. I was here for a private event and witnessed three employees work so hard for the mass of party goers. They were friendly, informative, and gracious. My guests and I were so grateful for them. The location is easy to find and the space is deceiving larger than you think. Outdoor patio too. The rums are delicious. Bananas Foster was my favorite. They have gold, silver, and a hibiscus variety. The labels and packaging are beautiful. Gold and silver foil atop clever illustrations. The designer in me was as pleased as the cocktail connoisseur. My boyfriend and I went on the distillery tour and then took the cocktail class and it was one of our favorite things we did in New Orleans! Nia was our tour guide and Ava our teacher and both were excellent!! Super friendly staff who knew a lot about the distillation process and the business's history. The tour was quick, but informative and we got to taste all the rums and syrups, as well as an included signature cocktail. The class was only 7 people and was super fun and intimate. We made two cocktails and learned about the history of each. We also took home a bottle of the bananas foster rum and two bottles of their delicious praline syrup. Just starting out and already looking polished. It's a spacious location, but still feels intimate. Decor is great. The owners and employees are a delight to talk to and are passionate about their product. Their rum offerings have something for any taste. I like their rum old fashioned, but I also had some of their hibiscus mixed drinks that I enjoyed. They're located near some of my favorite restaurants so pre and post drinks I highly recommend. If you don't like rum then I don't know what to say, except try their rum? If you don't like it then you can sleep well knowing you really don't like rum. Just before MG I saw that Happy Raptor was advertising a King Cake spiced rum so I had to have some. They are open limited hours at the moment, of course. But I stopped by on a Friday evening and was the only person there. I was also able to sample their Bananas Foster Rum so I ended up buying both bottles and a to go cocktail, a painkiller. The rum is delicious and flavorful. And my painkiller was amazing... although I thinned it out with a little club soda only because OJ (not rum never rum) kills my stomach. So glad we did a tour and tasting here! It was such a fun experience and we felt very welcomed. We enjoyed our Sunday afternoon here. The distillery tour and tasting is only $15! A less than an hour experience, you get a tour of their back on how they make their rums plus the history, tasting at the end, plus a cocktail! That is such a steal. Our host, forgot his name, was extremely interactive and friendly. We loved his sense of humor and hospitality during our tour. At the end we try their different rums from banana foster to hibiscus. Very interesting taste! Then I opted for the arnold palmer which was really good! The rums taste very well as a mixed cocktail - you can barely taste the rum and tastes more like a drink but it does hit you eventually. The lemon hibiscus is a big hit with my group! The interior has a very chill, beach type feel inside. One side is open (kind of like a garage) so there's ton of ventilation plus fans going on. Plenty of tables and chairs as well. Outside foods are also allowed! Overall we had a great time and would highly recommend this to everybody interested in learning more about rum and tasting the different fun flavors they make. read more

Visited NOLA for the weekend and this distillery was suggested via AirBnB. The employees love their jobs and you can definitely tell it! The business was a bit smaller than I expected, but learned a lot about them and their distilling process. The reservation comes with a cocktail, a tour, and tasting of the rums they have available. We got the Monkey Wrench (very strong in my opinion) and Pain Killer (nice and creamy) as our cocktails of choice before starting the tour. After the tour, we were provided with 5 samples of rum to taste, including their King Cake special! I'm not a fan of cinnamon so I gave my sample to my partner who loved it. I had scheduled a tour here but a week before my trip the bars in New Orleans were shut down again. I called and Mark the owner informed me they were still doing take out, and I could come check the place out. When we arrived Mark was nice enough to show us around and described the distillation process of how they make their rum. He also explained to me how they infuse their rums with dried fruit, which I think I'll try doing that at home. They had five bottled cocktails to go. I picked up the Hibiscus Hurricane and a Daiquiri. While Mark was getting our order ready he received a phone call from his friend that owns Seven Three Distilling Co (great tour by the way). He told him that a new order was coming out that would ban to go cocktails. Sure enough that happened the next day, so I was happy I was able to get my Happy Raptor Cocktails. I loved everything about this bar! Logan and CJ were very attentive, informative and fun! The space had a great vibe, very cute decor and the drinks ‍. We had a full rum tasting, the kings cake and banana foster we're my favorites. We also did three cocktails all delicious! although I can't remember the names one was created by CJ . Logan and CJ spoke highly of the sustainable practices used. From including the same pecans used to make the syrup, into the barrels when aging the kings cake rum...to dehydrating the used limes for later use in cocktails. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed our time. I wish we had time to come back again before we leave New Orleans. Lastly, the praline syrup is to die for!!! We randomly booked a tour at this tiny distillery as part of a bachelorette party. Heather did a great job leading the tour. The tour was $15 and includes a tasting of different rums and a choice of one of several of their rum cocktails.
