Normally, I like to be present for inspections, but because it didn't work out this time, my wife was there. After several estimates, she settled on Bug Baron for their clear explanation of the treatment, professionalism, and willingness to get their hands dirty and be thorough in locating termite activity. I had The Termite Guy come out since they did the last service over 5 years ago, and they were not as thorough. Not to mention, they focused more on selling me on the company, yet were not willing to do anything that would give me the impression they had identified the issue, so I went with Bug Baron. Simon, my point of contact, is a pro. He was always responsive, willing to answer my questions, and patient in dealing with my schedule. Given that I had received so many estimates, he price matched what i had been quoted. Further adding to the value of them vs the other guys, his warranty was for 5 years, while the others were either 1 or 3 years, and if you wanted a 3-year, you had to pay a pretty penny. Overall, great company, great communication with Simon, great value for the scope of work, and very interested in addressing my issues without pushing to sell me on something I may not need. After sending me a message on the phone that they found a number of dead mice and dead chipmunks last week, on the third billed visit, with no mention of exclusions, the VP of Operations, Lisa, now claims that they have sealed up the outside of the house. I haven't confirmed this because it takes two hours to drive up there. On the next visit, they plan to sanitize. My husband now tells me that Hatch employees who came out for the estimate said there's a monthly Hatch customer in the forest nearby. They said they sanitize using Pine Sol. They didn't bother to inspect the space underneath the cabin. I've now had the very unpleasant experience of researching what it actually takes to exclude mice and chipmunks from a pier and beam cabin. Rodent borne pathogens require industrial enzymatic neutralizers, not scented household cleaners. The urine of mice and chipmunks can be detected by other mice and chipmunks from hundreds of yards away, acting as a beacon for proven habitats such as my cabin. Chipmunks are great diggers and have to be excluded using industrial grade steel hardware trenched underground. If exclusions were done correctly, I won't be a monthly customer for Hatch, which is probably really their goal.

The owner Ivan came out to our place to assist us with a mice problem in our garage. He walked through and gave us some advice to remedy the situation. So we are working to solve the problem of excess boxes and storage items and will have Ivan come back out to vacuum and rodent droppings and disinfect the entire garage. I immediately went on yelp to find a pest control person and stumbled upon Master Blaster(loved their logo and small business feel). Called right away and David answered. I let him know my concerns and we set a day and time immediately for him to come out. David came out, opened the water box and found nothing. Checked our trees, and eaves just to make sure. Luckily no wasp nests.( most likely they are coming from neighbors and enjoying the water on our grass). I was relieved to hear we weren't the source of the problem. I thanked David and asked him what I owed him for the response. David assured me I lived close by and he didn't have to use any products so my business in the future would be sufficient. I can't thank him enough for the quick response, kindness, and for truly caring about his customers. We have definitely found our new pest control company.
