Save your money and time. Erick came out to troubleshoot an issue we had with our EV charger. He was not able to identify the issue and then wanted to charge me $600 to replace a 60amp breaker. We had another company come out and replace the same breaker for $150. Erick was rude and arrogant. I would not recommend this company. Our tech was very unprofessional and had an attitude. He said he was here to troubleshoot but took no steps to actually troubleshoot the issue. read more

I spoke with David at New Quest a couple of times regarding a full panel replacement for an older home. Unfortunately, I had already had another electrician out, and the prices were about the same, so I let the other electrician do the job. I certainly wish I gave the job to New Quest, as I'm finding out the other electrician tried to charge me for stucco repair, surge protection, and grounding rods. New Quest is way more professional and upfront, showing all of the job items to be done for the price. 1. After they came out, I had another issue where all my GFCI outlets stopped working, so I reached out to Nick. 2. I suggested a day/time, and they were there on time. 3. Manuel came in, checked the outlet they recently replaced, and checked all the non-working GFCI's. 4. Instead of charging to fix/replace the GFCI's, he discovered the GFCI switch in the breaker was the issue, and said he only needed to replace that (much faster and cheaper)! 5. He did exactly that, all within the diagnostics fee (once they realized the issue was not connected to the outlet they recently installed). 6. We reached out to several electricians to provide estimates on upgrading our residential electrical panel from a 100 amp panel to a 200, and install an EV charger. Here is a quick breakdown of each process and how it went after going with New Quest Electric to do this project. Estimate: I received a quick response from Nick via Yelp's project estimate feature along with a detailed breakdown of the project overview and what to expect. After some research on my project and confirmation that I was going to move forward with it we scheduled an appointment with Nick to assess conditions and get a written costs based on actual work. For example, our EV charger would require a long run between the panel and install location, so I already knew the cost would be higher than the original Yelp estimate which likely assumed installation at or very near the panel. I did not provide specifics as to the distance of the EV charger install when I reached out via Yelp. Install: After approving the proposal next step was to schedule Southern California Edison to come out and spot the location of your new meter. For anyone thinking that the location of your current meter should mean the new one can just replace it in the same location that is not the case. SCE requirements change and improvements that have been done to the home may mean the new one needs to be moved elsewhere. SCE provides a window for them to spot that is up to 10 days. Could be longer. We were fortunate and they came out within 3 days of being notified by Nick and his Team. This meant that we were able to schedule our panel upgrade a few business days later. Our install Team included Pablo, Gabriel, and Manuel. They were quick, professional, and clean. I was in contact with Pablo throughout the day as he wanted to make sure we were updated on status and what to expect. This is especially important since you'll be without power for a day, so this means anything that relies on power won't be operable until it's restored, including home internet or a phone line (if provided by your cable provider). Also, consider not stocking the fridge the day before unless you know for certain you won't be opening that fridge until power is restored to keep the contents from going bad. If you plan on running a generator to keep the fridge and other essentials going then no need to worry. Power was restored in about 6-7 hours after work started, before the time that we had expected which was great! The panel, car charger, and some additional electrical work related to our AC that we added the day of was completed within the day and there was a lot of attention to detail. Including paint matching conduit to match the house colors. City Inspection: After work was completed the final step in the process was to get the City to inspect and sign off. Diego was onsite to open the panel and walk the inspector around the job site to get all appropriate sign offs. Diego was great and extremely professional. A few notes: New Quest Electric uses a messaging service that makes commutation great. The interface makes it so convenient to see updates, view/pay invoices, etc. There was no pressure to sign or move forward with the work. Nick and Team answered all our questions making the process great. The payment structure is also great. A small deposit (percentage of work) to start work with final payment at time of final inspection sign off. They also offer various ways to pay adding to convenience. We chose a Chargepoint hardwired EV charger. I already use the Chargepoint service so getting this charger made sense as it ties into the app and is configurable using your existing account.
