I just used New Quest Electric to install a new electric panel at my home. My insurance company said I needed a new panel or they would drop my insurance. I called 5 electric companies on the same day to get quotes. All of the 5 I called had lots of 5 star Yelp ratings. I waited a month to make sure everything was working before leaving a review. I needed to replace an EV charger that was a plug-in type, which unfortunately was plugged into an outlet not rated for continuous high-loads, so it melted (not installed by New Quest). I asked for an estimate and Nick (the owner) came by to give me some ideas about what my options were. We decided on doing a hard-wire install of a new EV charger, which would be able to utilize the previously installed metal conduit. Nick was quick to give me an estimate and was able to schedule an install quickly. The price was very reasonable. On the day of the install, John and Oscar arrived promptly and got to work. I appreciated how they worked well as a team together, especially when we all had to brainstorm about how to put in a new metal conduit to get around the existing conduits and other things in the garage. John explained each step of the process. What I noticed most was his attention to detail and carefulness. When he took out and put back existing screws from my junction boxes, he slowly started the electric drill and was always under control. Too often I've seen people run things at full speed and strip screw heads. I also noticed that they would both put back screws into their holes until they were done, so they wouldn't lose any screws. Little things like that really caught my eye as a DIYer. They treated the equipment how I would have treated the equipment. Everything is working great now! Was quick to respond to a short notice job. They were quick to add a junction box in the attic to move some pigtail wires in an open wall while we had open access to the wall during a remodel. It was pricey but it was a time sensitive job because we had other contractors waiting to close the wall so the premium price was to be expected I guess since it was a job that needed to be done ASAP. I wanted to install a ceiling fan in an existing light fixture. Overall, the installation was successfully done. However, the customer service was a miss for me. Strike one: We've scheduled to arrive from 11am-1pm but did not received a call or text until I had to message them on yelp for a response after 1pm. They came at 3:30pm. Strike two: The service men did not seem happy about doing the job. Not even cracking a smile. It felt awkward from the beginning. Strike three: They took the ceiling fan box away without asking. Absolutely the best. I bought a plug-in hybrid, so started a quest for a charger installation. Having once prosecuted licensed and unlicensed contractors for the Contractors' State License Board I knew there were pitfalls, and boy were there. More than half the contractors I saw on line who represented they were licensed, weren't. Found some who were licensed, but they wanted to dispense with the required building permit. Found licensed contractors who pulled permits, but they didn't know what to do about the load capacity involved with adding a charger to an existing system. Edison said the majority of charger installations required a panel upgrade. In the process of finding someone capable I wasted time, endured endless frustration, and incurred financial loss (a permit I paid for but never used.). Finally found New Quest. We contacted Nick via Yelp and received a quick response. We requested an estimate to install a Tesla Wall Connector. He provided that quickly, which we believed was a fair price and good value, so we subsequently scheduled installation, which was today. Unfortunately a couple of his employees were out sick today, but Nick handled my job personally. He and his helper, Diego completed the job in a timely and professional manner. Nick saw some potential damage inside our electrical panel wire housing, wherein it appeared that there may have been some insulation melting, which would normally be caused by arcing. He went out of his way by completely disconnecting the service and pulling out the wires so he could visibly inspect what the cause of the issue was. It turned out that upon closer inspection it was not a safety issue. Nick explained it to me, but I don't remember what he called the material that caused the appearance of melting wire, but was not the case. Knowing Nick was the professional and the owner of the business we were confident in his experience and knowledge, which allayed any concerns whatsoever. The final result of the job was a very meticulous and clean install. Nick was also very helpful in answering questions about cost savings and future panel upgrade information.
