Just outside our cabin, Imogene, we had the river and path . We had all kinds of amenities. The Kitchen was perfect to make our meals. Cozy and comfortable. The staff were friendly and it was like a friend was waiting to see me. I will be back.

I've been on this site for a very long time. It takes a perfect accommodation and ownership to even write about a place (I'm lazy). To sum it up, ignore every bad review. Simply go to TripAdvisor and see why this is the highest rated place in Ourwy, Telluride and Silverton area.

I found this little gem several months ago on Yelp and planned to stay here a couple nights on our two week motorcycle trip. We booked the Black Bear cabin even though there was only two of us. We weren't disappointed in its charm. It's roomy, very clean, right on the mountain stream and had a bathroom and kitchenette. Loved it. Except the bed is quite hard as is the sofa but other than that a perfect quaint cabin. We also rented a jeep for a day and had a blast cruising around & exploring Yankee Boy and Governors Basin in Ruby!

View from back of cabin. Pretty sweet, huh? Perfect in the morning for a cup of coffee.

Delightful camper cabins. I would only stay in cabins 1-5 because the little back yard behind them faces a lovely bubbling river and walking trail that leads into town, fire-grates and picnic tables. The log-cabin style camper-cabins are very small with one bunk bed, two tiny shelves then one full size bed. No kitchen or bathroom. Primitive and quaint. No linens, so bring your own or bring a sleeping bag. If there's two kids and parents, it might be too cramped, but for just two adults it's perfect. I slept soundly due to the babbling brook immediately behind the cabins, so soothing. The first night, I slept on the bunk bed which was comfy then the second night, I traded my roomie for the double bed, but it hurt my back and didn't have the best support. The best part of staying here, is you can walk the trail behind the cabins and be in town in 15 minutes, which is nice if you plan on having a few beers and don't want to drive. The owner is around a lot, and that always speaks highly, I think. He sells jerky, chips, ice cream, cute gift items like cute coffee mugs for a reasonable price. I will stay here again for sure. You also get free coffee in the morning, and there is a hot tub on the premise, so nice for adults. I didn't see any playground for kids--it's more of an adult-oriented place.

Ouray is a delightful little town and this was a delightful little cabin. Stayed in camper cabin #1 which backed up to the river. A set of bunk beds and a full bed was plenty of room for our family. Nice swing and unique chair made of skis on the front porch served as the "living area". Electrical outlets appreciated!! Everything was very clean! The bath house was key entry only and was surprisingly clean. This was an alternative to tent camping for us so we were equipped with sheets and towels... which I think can be rented if needed. Didn't use the laundry room, but this would have come in really handy if it was a later stop on our road trip. A BBQ grill and picnic table behind the cabin were great for our hobo pie breakfast. Close to town and very convenient.

Our stay was so much fun in the Blackbear cabin. It was super clean and cozy. Although it was probably around 300 sq feet (my estimation), we were able to accommodate 3 small kiddos and 4 adults. The kids loved playing in the loft. The river was right outside the front porch. It was great to be able to have a kitchen (no oven in this unit) and Ouray coffee was served in the long not too far from the cabin. We will definitely return!

We had a very nice stay. No issues at all. Whenever I had a question or request they were very quick to help out.

Awesome stay! They went out of their way and helped us out in the middle of the night with a propane issue. Can't wait to stay again.

It was incredibly quiet and even though it was totally booked, I didn't hear anyone else. The rooms were impeccable and I would never have known any pet had been in the room if I wasn't told. We stayed in the Palomino room. It was a very roomy room with a small kitchenette (microwave and mini fridge) which was plenty since all I had were leftovers. The converted large walk-in closet allowed for plenty of room for everything my beloved cat, Luna. Even though we were on a quiet getaway, when I had to get some work done (boo!) the wi-fi was incredibly fast! The staff was so nice and helpful with local information. We will be back soon!!!!

The hotel we picked is nice , not super luxurious but quaint . Friendly , helpful staff . They have a swing to sit on at the top of their hot springs tubs . I saw a lot of complaints about their hot tubs but there was a staff of people cleaning them today and some of them looked " slimier" than others , those looked like the ones most used . Up top were the best ones , but slippery getting in so be careful ! They have breakfast in the morning with eggs, sausage , bacon , waffles etc . We didn't go until after 9am and yes , they still had food and more coming out . Only complaint is that we have dogs ( there is a $30 person per night fee ) and had to stay on bottom floor .. the problem was that you could hear through the walls the people walking above you and to the side of you. ( I think the lady next to us was being extra loud when talking . However we did not get woken up by our neighbors so maybe just a one off ... anyways I would stay here again . I even told our kids, "dad did this to be nice and spontaneous, so even if it's bad, just be grateful and act happy". I wasn't sure what to think at first, it definitely had character at first impression, but it could go either way once you get into the rooms (I mean, we've had some spontaneous hotel experiences that did not turn out so great). I was so pleasantly surprised when we got to the room- the beds were huge and SO COMFORTABLE (even the soft pillows which are hard to find in hotels)! The beds were so comfortable that I chose to turn in early because I just wanted a good night sleep in a soft, comfy bed that I could mold into. The rooms were spacious and immaculate, housekeeping and maintenance deserve a shout out because I'm PICKY and opted to shower without my shower shoes! Rooms were decorated adorably and the balcony overlooking the river was a treat! Breakfast was basic with hardboiled eggs and toast being my only personal option, but they also had sweets, Bagels, frozen burritos, cereal, etc. We would Definitely stay here again, and I highly recommend it to you High maintenance diva's is out there.

We had a king accessible room so it was probably a little different from the regular rooms. It was spacious but one of the lights wasn't working so we had to drag a lamp over to the table area. There was a microwave and good size fridge and a small, pod coffee maker on the dresser. IMO the coffee was pretty good. Our couch also pulled out into a bed. They had coffee/tea in the lobby and passed out brown bag breakfasts in the morning. Our bathroom could have used some counter space but there wasn't any. The shower was tiny but did have a bench and grab bars. The whole thing was porta-potty sized and only had a hand held sprayer with very weak water pressure, but it was clean. They did provide bar soap and had shampoo and body wash dispensers in the shower. The whole room was pretty clean and almost bug free - which for Colorado mountain towns says a lot. It was showing some wear but it was nice to have the air conditioning unit even if it was noisy and didn't work very well. There was also a portable floor fan in the small closet along with a luggage stand and bench for the shower. If someone needs an accessible room this one was very complete. I chatted with John, the owner, a couple of times and he is very nice and pretty mellow. His daughter Laura is also very friendly and sweet. Really the biggest issue we had was lack of maid service. When I went to ask about clean towels, John told me to put our used ones on the chair outside our door. We did that the next day at 7am, got back to the room about 3:30pm and the used towels were gone but there were no new ones. I went to the lobby and got towels and when we left for dinner there was a stack of clean towels on the chair. No one ever emptied our trash or even checked the room the whole week. It wasn't that we needed much but the website and handout we received both stated they had daily maid service. For $250/night I would have expected better communication. I did really enjoy the firepit area and hot tubs and we were able to have friends over one evening to socialize on the patio. I do recommend The River's Edge but it's important to clarify expectations on what's included.
