Went to have brakes looked at after hitting a pothole. Discovered a stuck calliper and a scored brake disc, the quote for the repair was higher than the costs of the completed work, much to my relief. Even though i didn't have an appointment they took on my repair and had it finished in a respectable time frame. I definitely will be going back there. read more

I like cars and am kind of into them so I've decided to write this review as a recommendation of New Star Auto Body and Repair, my new go to auto body and repair shop. I am generally a diy kind of guy and skeptical about who I let work on my car but there are certain things just better left to the professionals to do such as auto body and paint work, brake job repairs, exhaust issues, clutch jobs, ignition starter work, catalytic converter work, window motor failure, transmission work, collision repair, and other non laymen auto related work. From my understanding New Star Auto also performs simple jobs such as oil changes, tune ups, and brake pad replacements as well. Long story short, I trust the staff at new star auto repair. Here is my basic simlple and easy to understand 411 of New Star: Pros: honest and knowledgeable mechanics Locally owned and operated Fair and honest pricing Friendly and professional customer service Quality work Comfortable (but small) waiting room Cons: Located in a busier part of Duluth They can get pretty busy on weekends No nearby coffee shops Their parking lot can be a bit crowded. I came 2 hours before closing and the owner was super busy with other cars but he was able to fix my door handle within 2 minutes. After further inspection, John informed us we needed to replace the caliper. I feared the cost would be beyond our budget and our vehicle wouldn't be ready today. John made it happen. I brought my Honda here with no idea what was wrong. They were kind about me describing the problems without any car knowledge. They test drove it and ran the codes and explained that it was the transmission. They recommended I go to a transmission specialist and didn't charge me anything for their time!! New Star Automotive is hounethical, does poor work, does not stand by their work and does not care about the customer! I am contacting the Better Business Bureau and am seeking legal counsel as well. My daughter had a new compressor and condenser installed 8/20/18. The work was not properly done. About 3 weeks ago, all of her fluids needed to be refilled. Strange but we were not thinking. She and I took her car to Jiffy Lube to have the fluids refilled. We didn't think anything was wrong or serious. Just thought the fluids needed to be filled. The guy at Jiffy Lube was great. He filled the fluids but did ask if AC work had been completed recently. We said yes. He said that it appeared one of the belts appeared to be loose as well. My daughter was going to take the car back to New Star once she got a free moment. We fast forward to this week, 9/24/18. My daughter's car ran hot miles away, in Fayetteville GA. Took the car to Midas and they found that the car had lines leaking antifreeze and transmission fluid. Also, there was a problem with the radiator as well. They took a look and saw that the AC work done by New Star was faulty. Midas was outstanding. Midas called New Star and explained what was happening to the car. Midas even sent New Star pictures showing the leaks resulting from the bad repair job New Star did. Midas asked the New Star tech how was the AC compressor and condenser installed. New Star said that they installed the compressor and condenser without removing the radiator. WHAT??? I contacted New Star multiple times asking for them to fix the car caused by their poor work. New Star refused to repair the vehicle. They said that it was more than 30 days from when they did the work. Keep in mind that the work was just done on 8/20/18. New Star took almost $800 from me but they don't want to back their work. Please don't get taken like my daughter and I did. Please do not go to New Star. They are not ethical and do not stand by their work. They only want your money! New star is not ethical! read more
