In close to a decade going there one part went up in price by a few dollars from the time I spoke to them to the time I got the repair without them having yet seen my vehicle (another place did the diagnostic and I didn't trust them). They informed me of the price change and got permission to go ahead with the fix. This is more than made up by them times I've shown up with my car going "what's going on" and them telling me what I need to do is "x" for a lot less money. $450 for routine maintenance?!?! These people are absolutely immoral, charging over $300 for just for the labor on an oil change, and then some stuff I didn't even ask for. An oil chance should never cost more than $200 even if you're ripping people off. If you go over that you better be asking people if they want what you're doing to take their money! They took two hours when I was expecting one, so I was getting late to get back to work and couldn't stand around and argue, I'm so pissed at this place. My car FINALLY got the TLC it deserves! I admit, I keep my car clean and looking good, but some major stuff that needed to be done, I slacked on. I can honestly say I have been needing to get a strut assembly for more than a year! (Thanks Atlanta Potholes!!!!)....I put it off because It didn't sound as bad and to my knowledge wasn't really affecting my cars performance. End of 2020, and I could tell a major difference! I needed to get this done ASAP. I visited my dealership and they wanted to charge $2,300, even after I got $1,500 worth of work previously. A friend told me about this place, and I'm glad he did! I filled out the questionnaire online, and within an hour I was contacted by somebody for more insight and to schedule an appointment. He did some calculations and said he could get the SAME job done for $1,500!!! That's an $800 difference!! Upon arrival I can tell thee guys keep a busy, tight shop. Communication is well, they work very efficient and the staff is friendly. My car took over 24 hours to complete and they provided a shuttle to drop me home. The next day I paid for the transaction, treated myself to an Orange Fanta from their selection of beverages in the waiting room, and drove off. I first made contact with this business months back, when I drove by & noticed they specialize in Japanese vehicles. My cat happens to be Japanese so I thought I would check it out. My car was almost in need of an oil change. Pej helped me. I called to inquire information regarding their prices. They charge 20$ less than my old place. Automatically made an appointment. Upon arrival I was greeted. The interior is very clean and its pretty cozy if your services last longer than you anticipated. They offer drinks and have a TV for customer entertainment. This place really cares about your business. I've had an issue at this place that wasn't their fault but they did everything in their power to make sure they took care of me, when they honestly didn't need to. Shad the director, called me and went above and beyond for me! They've done oil changes, air filter maintenance, brake changes and fixed my mirror for me. Their prices are affordable and way less than other places. What makes JAR different from other auto repair shops is they don't try to lie to you about your car to make a quick buck. Everywhere I go, I always get taken advantage of at auto shops because I'm female. I'm writing a review for two services. The first service I went for was my brakes for my 2013 Toyota Corolla back in 2018. Great price and great staff. They didn't try to up-sell me on anything. I told them what I wanted and it was done. The staff even offered to drop me off somewhere while I was waiting. The second review is from this past week 02/27/2021. I went again for my brakes. I thought I needed them replaced and that is what I requested on my appointment. I dropped off my car and went on to run other errands. Patrick gave me a call and told me that it wasn't my brakes but instead a brake fluid flush. Everything about this place is honesty and shows great amount of integrity to their work. Awesome service! I had gotten a quote for a repair by my Nissan dealership that made my stomach turn. I just purchased my car from a close friend who always took pristine care of her vehicle, so it seemed so unrealistic that now I have major problems. Japanese Auto Repair on PIB. Dangerous and careless. Heads up, neighbor: you will need to double-check Japanese Auto Repair's work if you hire this mechanic. You cannot simply trust them. Car returned to me with a "sign here and have a nice day". Few miles later, wheel feels like it's about to fly off. I pull over to discover I can hand-turn all five lugs. All five front driver-side wheel lug nuts were left unscrewed! Friendliness and lobby coffee don't matter when this dangerous lack of safety checking is standard practice. Came here for an emissions issue with my Prius with a sensor warning that kept it from passing emissions and they were able to fix the issue quickly and for hundreds of dollars less than the other groups I got estimates from. Super straight forward guys that help you understand the issues like you are a mechanic which I wish more people did. Then had an issue this week with my 12 volt batter in the back of my Prius not holding up on the cold weather. Went in they tested it and fixed it that day. My car was worked on In California by a kid that needed some life lessons to grow as a mechanic, worst decision of my life. Brought what was left of my car to these boys and they found that my motor was useless. I came in with a random misfire in 1 & 6 in my 2JZGE 2002 Lexus is300, but found that the motor needed to be replaced. My car runs the best it ever has with the new motor. Turn around was a bit slow because of the demand and the amount of people moving south out of their shithole states but I'm very happy with what these guys did to my baby! I heard a lot of talk around town at local Toyota dealerships that these guys don't play, one bolt missing on an oil pan = termination. Worth every penny, would recommend to any Japanese car owner in Georgia! I now drive this car in Central Florida and I get compliments all the time! read more

I really dislike car issues, especially when I'm at fault. So, I spilled a magnum of wine in my trunk (it rolled and hit something), and it just happened to spill over the part where the electrical board is underneath, so that the trunk would not open either manually or electrically. So, with a future beach trip planned, I was more motivated to get it fixed. I called Infiniti, and it was $150 just to look. So...no thanks! I decided to try this place, and am glad for the most part I came. For one, service was good, and they were fast! I did have to get a rental car, and the good news is they have a service van that will transport you to Enterprise. Also, they have some kind of deal with them, so I got a really good rate from them. And they will pay half the amount of whatever your rental fee is which reminds me I forgot to get that reimbursed. So, that was really helpful instead of having to get Uber or a friend involved. I dropped off late in the day, and got a call early the next morning. Yes, the trunk could be fixed for $150, AND I lost a magnum? No fun. But apparently my brakes were bad, and I also needed new pads for the back per them. This is where I hate taking a car in, because they always seem to find something wrong. Now, it may have needed new brakes. They weren't squeaking, so I can't say for sure, but while they had it, I just let them do it so that was a heck of a lot more than I was anticipating. I'm not sure their pricing is competitive, and not sure if I needed brakes or not, but I will say they were quick about it, and I thought the experience overall was good. I have been here twice and both experiences were not so great. I was referred by a friend to go here since I have a Japanese-made car. The first time we waited in the lobby since all I needed was my key fob reprogrammed and to get a check engine light diagnosis. I waited for about 2 hours even though the mechanic came in about an hour after taking my car back and they couldn't program it since the actuator went bad. The second time I came in to get my AC fixed because it had gone out a few months back. I had an appointment to drop off my car at 12 and was told we'd be in touch. Well, the day goes on and it comes to be 6, and realize I had not heard anything and they were to be closed. I called at 6:15 to see why I never heard anything and was told that it was too late to figure out the problem and prices after having my car all day. I get a call early morning the next day and I missed it. Went to call them back about an hour later and had to call about 6 times over a span of about 45 minutes because it wouldn't ring. Once they answered I was told that it was a bigger issue than what was expected and when I asked if my car was ready the person on the phone kinda stuttered as if my car was not ready even though they had for a whole day. Once I get there and they tell me face to face the issue I was hit with that my car is over 20 years old with almost 300,000 miles so it was bound to have issues. Yes, my car is older but that should not mean any different for anyone with a new car. Overall I have not had any good experiences here and will not return. read more

We've had work done on several vehicles by JAR and always been pleased with their service. However, my most recent experience really impressed me and deserves to be shared. My 17-yr-old son accidentally put diesel in his Toyota Avalon. He drove it 2 miles until it died. We had it towed to JAR. I expected to pay around $1000 for repair since he had driven it, which Google says can make the situation much worse. However, after draining the tank and doing a fuel injector service, we walked out the same day for $293. They could have taken advantage of the situation, and I really appreciate that they didn't. As a plus, they are always pleasant, responsive and and easy to deal with. Highly recommend this trust-worthy shop! read more

Last year I had my '99 Toyota brought in because the motor for the rear window had blown. The folks at Japanese Automotive Repair fixed my car quickly, and their rates were very reasonable. Recently, my check engine light came on. I took it to several shops to get an estimate. Christian Brothers down the street wanted to charge $150 just for the diagnostics, and estimated that the entire repair could cost over $500. When I brought my car to Raymond at JAR, he looked under the hood, saw that whomever had done my last oil change had neglected to plug a sensor back in and left one of the hoses unattached. After he reattached these, the check engine light went away. Raymond didn't charge me a cent. Bottom line: Raymond and the folks at Japanese Automotive Repair know what they're doing. The best in my 12 years experience. I waited 1 year to make this review for a reason. Why? Read on... Ive taken my pampered 12 year old Lexus to Lexus dealers and Toyota dealers only for repairs and maintenance. In all of those years, JAR outshined them all. When my transmission gave up, I went to a Toyota dealer who was charging me $5000 for refurb transmission. But in addition to that, they want to change my rear axle, drive shaft, and a bunch of other drivetrain components and ended up with a $9000 estimate. My car is worth $7000 so why am I going to do that? In desperation, I looked around for a local shop. I was a bit worried because this is the first time I would take my baby to a non-dealer shop. Let me just say Shad made all my concerns disappear. Requested schedule online on a Sun Got called on a Tues Dropped car off Wed Got the car back Fri ...all for several hundred bucks cheaper than dealer shops. I intentionally waited 1 year to make this review because I wanted to make sure my new transmission will at least be trouble free for 1 year. Not only was it trouble free, my car also now runs quieter than it has ever been since I bought it brand new. Yes, I've gotten so used to some drivetrain noise that my car was making throughout the years that I thought it was normal. When I got my car back, it was so, so, so quiet. It's like a brand new car again. I've driven the car to 10 hour trips back and forth several times for a year now, and it continues to drive like a dream. Shad is the best service technician I've ever worked with. Because of my hesitation to use non-dealer shop for the first time, I drilled Shad with tons of questions. But he was patient to answer all of them and explain the work that needs done. I know every inch and every sound my car makes. I know how it feels and looks inside and outside. If I am not mistaken, I swear he changed my oil for free. I had them flush the break fluid too. But Shad had my throttle body cleaned for free. I know my engine oil was up for a change soon. But when I got my car back, I swear my oil looks cleaner than I expected. I always changed my own oil, so I was surprised to see clean oil when it was time to change it. She swore that while driving at night, the dash lights would randomly start blinking and the engine would act as though it were about to die. Clearly, this seemed unsafe, so she sought help. Several mechanics, and many dollars later, no one could find anything wrong with the car. We ended up taking the car to JAR after a friend recommended them. We now wish we had gone here first! The owner, Shad, asked if he could drive the car overnight, in hopes that the symptoms would repeat. No dice. They tested the electrical systems, ignition and alternator, and all appeared fine. They offered to replace some things if it would make her feel better, but nevertheless advised against spending the money! Shad drove the car for a few more nights, and again, nothing happened. We picked up the car, and my mother insisted on paying, but Shad politely declined! Eventually, she was able to record the symptoms with her phone. Ever since i moved from Georgia to Oklahoma.. now Texas and God knows what is next as i'm a contractor in IT). Bottom line is I miss them the most. Date was 6/3/2019. I have receipt. It says "Tech found Regulator/Motor Assembly Faulty. Quoted $425 plus tax. Customer declined at this time". It turned out to be a $3.99 fuse. I was unable to reply to you because I was out of town and did not have the receipt. Reviews should reflect accurate information and not just those that flatter your business. If I could put 6 stars, I would. I travel 28 miles to have this shop work on my car. Obviously, I bypass a lot of shops that are much closer and more convenient to me for a reason. I'm convinced this business has extended the life of my car at least a year or two, which is not insignificant because I average 30,000 miles/yr. I have an 06 Scion (Toyota) XB that will surpass 350,000 miles this week. I wouldn't have gotten to this milestone without JAR. #1- These guys are honest. They repair only what is needed. Like the best mechanics, they are very straightforward with what needs to be done and what can wait. #2- Pricing is more than fair. I have never felt a bill was out of line, esp given the expertise and quality customer service I receive here. #3- Customer service is exceptional. Very nice folks. From the hands on owner to every member of the staff here, all are accommodating, patient with questions and explanations, and treat the client as someone who is to be valued and not taken for granted. A month later took my car in for the repairs and paid exactly for what needed to be done. Dealership wanted 3 times as much for the same service. Kinda sickening to know how dealerships rip you off. The service at Japanese Auto Repair is impeccable, however, the prices do seem a little bit high for what they do. I compared the part prices to the prices I was charged for the genuine Nissan parts for my Murano and found that the parts were slightly overpriced. Took my vintage 1990 Volvo 240 for repairs. Repairs were satisfactory but while my car was there someone broke the manual sunroof. Took car back to them and they got sunroof sealed. Opened it couple of days later only to find out that it is not repaired at all. Very disappointed!!! read more

Another person (Shod?) called about two hours later "to discuss the repair prices" and quoted me $400 more than the first person - $899 to $1,299 and said that the list of repairs included in the price shown on their website "didn't apply to my car". He was very rude and made all kinds of excuses for the price being higher, that the website "had a typo", and he couldn't understand why I might be upset about this.
