I'm SOOOO happy I found these guys. I live way down in Jonesboro but I have a Honda Hybrid and of course, the Honda dealer was trying to COMPLETELY screw me on the price of my servicing as well as parts and labor and do this WITHOUT being able to tell me EXACTLY what was wrong with my car! Well...I wasn't having it and searched online for "Honda Hybrid Repair" in Georgia and Bill and his Honda-A Techs business popped up. Now don't get me wrong, it was a bit of a trip ALL the way up to Duluth, it took me an hour and 20 minutes but maaaaaan was it worth it. Bill is a class act! No BS WHATSOEVER, he quickly identified the problem, quoted me a MUCH more reasonable price, and did the initial job. I had an Acura MDX 2010 that my husband and I bought used (it had also been in a collision before purchasing it). We took it to the dealership and they quoted us a pretty astronomical price to get everything fixed (sway bars, steering rack, brakes, and the driver's side axle). When I called Bill he quoted me a much more manageable price. He and his team were able to take care of everything (he sent pictures all along the way and told me about some stuff to watch out for in the future). The car was even done within 24 hours. When I gave them my 01 civic I was very scared on leaving it I don't trust many people but they were very honest and when I got my car back from them first time I seen it was not all really done right and I think I kinda rushed them so I had to bring it back a couple days later cause of the alternator. But make since cause cars old with 182 miles so all original so I expected it so when they put my alternator in for free he adjusted my hood latch and gave me some new plugs and coil packs and he did not have to do that. I will say this I will have this car hopefully till it turns into antique cause of them and I will keep using them very good people. read more

I was fortunate enuf to live near Hond-A-Tech once upon a time & when I cudn't even get my Acura TL out of the driveway (O2 sensor had gone bad) I spent 1/2 the day looking for a mechanic via phone, as I was new to the Duluth area at the time. Spoke with several repair centers, but I felt Bill answered my questions the best and it didn't hurt that he was so close by. So I had my TL towed there & I was very impressed with Bill's professionalism, knowledgeability, accuracy, honesty and excellent customer service, overall. He did not disappoint in the least! I still own Acuras, but no longer live in Duluth... BUT I WILL AND DO DRIVE OUT OF MY WAY to get to Bill at Hond-A-Tech. Hond-A-Techs is an independent garage started by some former Acura/Honda Dealership mechanics. They service both Acura and Honda vehicles. They must have been good while they were at a dealer because the wall is covered with Mechanic of the Month awards. The hourly labor rate is a lot less than a dealership. They also will explain things to you and don't have a problem with showing you the broken parts they remove. One thing I've noticed is that the men and women I've talked to in the waiting room are car enthusiasts and know their cars. A bad mechanic isn't prepared for those kinds of customers so that's a good sign. They don't advertise so almost all of their customers are referrals which is another good sign. I've had routine maintenance and a full transmission replacement done here. The transmission cost a lot less than I was expecting. The service and great work make this business a must try for any Honda or Acura owner. I was thinking about trying a Lexus or BMW for my next car because I've never had one before, but finding an independent mechanic that is this good is not easy. My next car purchase will be either a Honda or Acura because owning the car is only part of the experience. Having a good mechanic is the other part of the experience. read more

My Honda started having problems and I went to Hond-A Tech after reading all the great reviews on yelp. Bill was super nice, but he wasn't able to fix my car the first time. He said it was fixed, but the second I got in my car, the same problem occurred. I had to come back and trust that the second repair would finally fix the problem and it did! He gets work done quickly and he was able to order the part and have my car ready the following day. If you need your car done fast, Bill is your guy. My first trip there I gave them the benefit that perhaps the receptionist didn't show up or they were down a mechanic. Bill was very rushed, seemed pulled in 5 different directions, but went for a quick road test, which I appreciated. My bad! This abrasive and rude behavior continued on visits 2 and 3 (final). It wasn't just with me, I witnessed this behavior with other customers as well. Perhaps if they hired a receptionist he could get back to what he does best... cause customer service clearly is not his strength. Initially I came in for help with multiple problems after service at another shop. They replaced both front axles and that fixed one of the issues. I also asked them to diagnose noise in the rear that another mechanic could not figure out and was told I needed new rear struts. I shared they were only 4 years old and had less than 40,000 miles on them. FYI the rear end wasn't "bouncy," just squeaky. I took Bill for his word and authorized the repairs. Unfortunately the squeaking is even worse now. I went to yet another mechanic (YESSS... finally found an honest, patient, competent mechanic) trying to figure out this noise. He told me if the rear end was not bouncy, it likely did not need the rear struts at all. And the noise, while not a safety issue, was coming from the bolt that holds the struts in. There is a little bit of gap, sizing slightly different from original bolt/parts, so there's some play/movement making the squeaking noise. But firmly attached and safe. So while they did some work that was good, they also recommended/did work that was not needed (dishonest & greedy), coupled with really awful customer service, are 2 too many reasons to ever return to this shop. read more

I have an '92 Acura Legend and, at this moment, I'm as poor as a church-mouse. My Legend's got a front end noise, and I've looked at it, but can't quite spot the problem to replace the part (myself). I called Hond-A Techs today and explained to them what was happening, what I have done so far, and asked how much they'd charge to look at the car and tell me what's wrong. I explained that I'd be doing the work. The guy patiently listened to my explanation (sh_t, my cardiologist doesn't even do that), asked me a several detailed followup questions, and amazingly, made a preliminary diagnosis over the phone even going so far as to giving me a tip on a replacement part. I am so impressed by this magnanimous gesture that I think I'm going to have them do the work (apparently about $100 worth). With one phone call I feel they've proven they are competent, trustworthy, just generally decent guys. I realize I could be *totally* wrong here, because it's just a phone call. I will file a followup comment after I see them. But I think I've found an honest place. read more

My Dad had a persistent oil leak from his 2002 Acura 3.2 TL Type S. The dealership he'd always dealt with gave him a $1,900.00 quote to replace the oil pump. So he asked around and a friend of his recommended these guys. We took it in and they got it up on the rack and showed us it was really only an issue with the oil pan that needed to be replaced. Also explained how there wasn't any way the dealer could have diagnosed an oil pump problem without some tear down since the part is hard to get to. He ended up walking out of Hond-A Techs with slightly more than $400.00 in repairs. These guys are legit. read more

When the transmission in our beloved old high-mileage Acura failed, I called Honda-A Techs about a new transmission. The car also needed a timing belt service, battery and windshield. I spoke with the owner, Bill. He gave me a quote and said he could complete all the repairs, but advised me instead to use the money to purchase a newer car. Bill explained that our Acura was only worth about half the cost of the repair estimate, and there were other common failure items on this particular car that would probably occur soon, adding even more cost. I checked KBB and Acura online forums, and he was 100% right. Thank you Bill for your honesty. You could have profited from a money pit situation, but instead gave great advice. Looking for a shop you can trust? I think you have just found it. So I took my 2007 Honda Civic Si that had 92k miles on it for the 90k service. The car was having multiple issues. Brakes were scraping, a whiny belt, and it felt sluggish in general. I took it in explained all of the issues. The gave me a good deal on the service and also resolved some leaking parts. When I picked up the car is driving very smooth and brakes are no longer scraping. I know that many shops could have taken advantage of all of the 'possible' issues but these guys did not. Moved from Massachusetts a couple of years ago and struggling to find that local mechanic. Hate going to the dealership. FINALLY found these guys. Great service, great attitude. My AC wasn't working (a big deal down here!). They fixed it and made practical decisions since my Honda CRV has 240,000 miles! A few weeks later, the AC stopped working. I returned to Honda-Tech and they discovered a bolt had fallen off and fixed it that day at no cost! The owner was out that day sick and they were backed up but they were willing to look and get it fixed that day. I can't thank them enough for how they treated me and reasonable costs and service. I have been bringing my 07 Odyssey to this shop for 3 years. The only thing that makes me dissapointed is that I didn't know them early enough so I had to pay the price of stealership to fix the power steering hose leak. Otherwise, I could be saving some money while getting high quality work at this place. Call Bill in advance about pricing and compare it with the honda dealership. Very fair and honest pricing (versus the standard highway robbery you would shell out in an Acura and Honda service center. My honda broke down Friday and I had towed to their location. They were beyond helpful. They quickly diagnosed to find the problem, a new transmission was needed. They let us know the car was still under warranty and advised us to take to Honda dealership to have it covered for free. He was helpful in explaining the process and how to deal with the dealership so they don't screw me around. I will for sure be bringing my car here for non warranty repair work and maintenance. Very honest shop, during a recall visit Gwinnett Place Honda tried to tell me I had dry rot on hoses of a 4 year old Odyssey. I called these guys just to get a quote for hose replacement, before he gave me a quote he asked how old the car was and said the hoses don't dry rot that quick and all I needed was an inexpensive radiator fluid flush. read more

I concur with other reviewers on this place. I took my Acura to Honda-A Techs for the 60K mile service. Did the transmission fluid , oil and break fluid changes. Dropped off the car and picked it back up in about 1 hour or so. Overall the experience was good. The place is specialized for Honda and Acura vehicles with technicians specialized on them. I don't see a reason for taking my car to the dealer for routine maintenance anymore. I may have to forego the benefit of a loaner vehicle and the complimentary car wash but the work gets done super quick at a nominal price. I would definitely recommend this place for my friends for their Acura/Honda. read more
