Some employees are great, thoughtful, take their time, while others are rushed and do a subpar job- only to be annoyed with you when you voice your opinion on the service you're paying for!! One time, I tried for a walk in manicure. No one was at the front desk so an employee asked what I wanted. After telling her, without checking, she said they were full for the day. No appointments at all. I left, but the demeanor was so off, I called to see if there were any appointments. The woman on the phone immediately asked what time I could come in. When saying, how about now, they said it was no problem! Not sure why that happened but I vowed to never go back. This was in September 2024. It's really a shame that this place is SO inconsistent but more often than not I have a subpar experience. Today was one of those days. Went in for a manicure pedicure and the pedicure was so bad I left without getting my nails done. Old polish still on my nails and toes, burned with a file and nails not actually cleaned up. It seems if you really need to schedule with a particular employee, otherwise the experience is certainly not guaranteed to be positive. But the gel manicure was one of the worst I've ever had- how can they even call it a manicure when there is no cleaning, exfoliation, or proper nail trim? Judging from everyone else in the nail salon who mostly looked like they had decent nail technicians, I just had the worst nail tech, who might have been tired because it was the end of the day, but not acceptable to work. When I got my pedicure, the gentleman did not even use the stone for calluses nor clip the cuticle. When I asked, I was told it was an extra $10 for anything involving calluses. Afterwards, I noticed tons of nail polish on my toes, I could have done a better job at my house. Also, when I started my manicure, the man began to grind my nails off. Did not soak hands in a bowl of water or anything. Did not do cuticles. I asked him to stop, he was just making my nails thin. Officially boycotting them! I went in to have a pedicure and eyebrows done. When done with my pedicure the man who did pedicure did not alert the manager to my waiting on eye brows. When I walked my pregnant self to the front of the shop to let the manager know I was waiting he said - he never knew I needed my brows done and said it would be a half hour! I have been to the salon a few times because of its location. I'm giving this place two stars instead of one because I had been moderately satisfied with my two previous visits. Yesterday was a different story. My daughter and I walked in without an appointment and asked if they had time for one pedicure and one deluxe pedicure. They said they couldn't fit us in for 20 minutes so we said we would wait. In less than a minute, we were ushered to our stations and were given the fastest, sloppiest pedicures we've ever had. We were in and out within the 20 minutes they said we were originally going to have to wait. My feet were still dirty! There was no attempt to clean under the nails, trim the cuticles or pumice. All things sorely needed. We were so stunned we didn't even say anything. We went ahead and tipped our technicians because obviously orders came from management to get us in and out. Also, don't buy in to their cash policy. They tell you they have to pass along the credit card fee (which could be 1.5 to 3.5%) and encourage you to get cash out of the ATM conveniently located outside their entrance which could end up costing more if you don't take out a large sum. read more

Once at the salon, the lady servicing her instantly got an attitude when she indicated she would like to upgrade her pedicure to organic. Why on earth is it on the menu??? And brand new customers aren't yet familiar with regular vs. whatever upgrades your facility offers so it doesn't seem far-fetched that that selection would only be made IN-PERSON. ‍ Okay, she acquiesced. For a business to turn down almost DOUBLE the cost of the service tells me we aren't looking for long-term success here. Your customers are not mere "appointments" that you can overbook so closely together that you don't actually SERVE them. When a customer makes a request and are paying for a service, PROVIDE THAT SERVICE. Capitalism is a GIVE AND TAKE. Your customers receive a service (that they hope is on par) and pay money for said service. If you deny them what they ask for they feel robbed, which is how I feel now knowing my mother is paying for this pedicure that I now have to find a new nail shop to FIX. Went to try this salon out. I won't go back. It was expensive and the nail techician was horrible with the electric file. He kept getting my fingers and cut one finger twice causing it to bleed in two different places. He kept filing my nails after the dipping process to the point that he had to keep redoing the dip. Didn't think he would ever finish. In the end, no washing of hands even though my finger was bleeding and my thumb nail has a mark in it from him over filing. Then the price was outrageous. I made an appointment for 2 people for pedicures (I learned to make an appointment when they gave me an attitude previously saying they prefer appointments over walk-in clients). On the way to the appointment, the other person had an emergency and couldn't attend. The staff gave me an attitude that I should have called ahead because they turned away other customers for our appointment. I asked if I could instead do a gel manicure with the spa pedicure so they wouldn't lose money. I was told no, the appointment was 2 pedicures and they didn't have anyone available for a manicure. Other clients came in for service while I was there and some employees were sitting around talking with no clients. As they finished the pedicure they offered the manicure because they suddenly had openings. I turned down the manicure and went elsewhere for it. Went for a gel pedicure. According to their pedicure "menu" it comes with a leg massage, lotion, and hot towel. I didn't get any of that. Completely rushed. When I asked the manager about it, who was checking me out, she asked the lady and she held up a wet towel. WOW a wet towel when performing a pedicure, who would of thought. I went to new style nails about a few days ago to get a new set and I had the worst experience ever. I sat in this nail salon for almost three hours just to get horrible set for 60 dollars. First of all, I didn't want them this short at all but I didn't say anything because I was already in a rush. I thought to myself no big deal I will just get them longer next time. The lady who was doing my nails clearly was struggling and needed more practice, she also kept hurting me. I've had surgery on my right pinky finger and I kindly asked her to loosen her grip a little bit because I have a metal rod in it and it was getting uncomfortable for me. She was a little mindful at first but then just kept grabbing and pulling it. It was extremely uncomfortable but I just ignored it because I was just trying to get out of there. I asked for a design on my two ring fingers as you can see in this picture but the lady who was doing my nails kept trying to do this simple design and she couldn't make it look right so she asked someone else to do it. I was really frustrated at this point so I was going to go and talk to owner or manager when I was done. Finally, after almost three hours they were done with my nails. I admittedly went up to the man who was at the desk and I asked him if I could speak to him outside of the nail salon so I could tell him about my experience and he said yes. So I payed for my nails and asked him again to speak with me outside and again he said yes. So I walk out and i thought he was going to follow me outside but he didn't ... he sat down and started doing someone else's nails. I was really furious at this point so I walked out with paying no tip. I feel bad for not giving a tip but I honestly don't believe she deserved it. When she was doing my nails she didn't even compare the two nails together to make sure they were even. I noticed the next day that some of the nails are longer then the others and so uneven. Some of the nails are a lot wider then others and they just look horrible. They all have different shapes from each other and it really angers me because I payed $60 for them. I really wanted to go back and get my money back but I honestly just don't want to deal with them or ever go back there. I am really disappointed in their service and really hoped better. I had my nails done at this location on a Thursday and on Saturday, my diamonds had already fallen off and needed repair. By Tuesday, my nails were already chipped and the polish was coming off. I asked if I could come in and have them fixed and was told that because its been past 7 days I would have to pay full price. I then had to go in and pay to have the nails soaked off since they looked like I havent had them done in months and I refused to walk around looking like that. I will never go back to this nail salon. As I was explaining my situation to the workers, they started talking to each other in chinese and looking at me. 10/10 best nail salon in Kingston. The workers are ALL super pleasant and really caring. The salon it's self is spotless! All new machines and chairs. I had Jojo who did my pedicure who was very sweet and did a wonderful foot message and had no problem giving me a little extra time after my 5minute timer went off. She was very careful applying polish and made sure to clean up around my nail beds efficiently. Queenie who did my manicure was also super sweet and very talkative which is SUPER rare for a Kingston nail salon. she told me how she's still new to this area and has heard stories about other nail salons who give off attitudes and she goes "why should we do that we're offering services you should be satisfied, that is number one". I've been here twice recently . I only go here when my nail girl is fully booked . After my first appointment I was very happy , the gentleman did a great job . This last appointment was not that great , and I'm hesitant to go back again . I thought I had finally found a great salon that doesn't rush you in and out , cares ,& takes the time to do a great job , this last time not so much . I had Gel polish on , each time I had gone to get a manicure. The first time , there was some confusion about what was on my nails , I explained and it was no problem . This most recent time I went , I had three different people work on them , the first two confused I explained it's gel ... the first person could not do it " the second woman , did an Ok job , but it's been a week and they started chipping before 1 week , unacceptable.
