WHEN: Wednesday @10am. I FINALLY GOT A HAIRCUT! My last haircut was just before the shelter-in-place happened, which means it's been over a year. It's grown so annoyingly long. I thought I arrive just before opening time (10am) so that I can be first in line! The doors were already open at 9:55am, and I was immediately seated in the styling chair for Tammy to give me a haircut! To my pleasant surprise, Tammy remembered me! See folks, this is what I love about mom n pops shops---they make doing business so wonderfully personally and it was SO nice Tammy remembered me even after over a year, and we only met once! Also, I had my mask on, and so did the entire staff. I had a great time getting my hair cut. Tammy is fun, charming, and clearly confident in her profession, which made me trust her handling my hair. I arrived at 9:55am, and I was done at 10:10am. They are so efficient and pro here. I love my haircut (chopped off about 6 inches with very subtle layers) and I feel SO refreshed! She assured me that she'd make my hair look and feel healthy again and she sure did. I love how blond she made me so this'll stop me from picking out my grays haha. I go to get my haircut with Larry every few months and it's always a great experience! I tried something a little bit different with my haircut this time and Larry executed it perfectly. I love how friendly both Tammy and Larry are and they always make sure I feel comfortable (and as a bonus I get to practice my Vietnamese with them!). Just FYI, Formerly "Salon 1" from Webster St.! Anyway, I visited their new place at Park St. A week ago and just to say Hi to Tammy & Larry then of course since I'm there I got haircut. Unplanned hair color done by Tammy and when I'm ready to get my hair wash & shampoo I got unexpected service no charge! mini facial done by Larry... yes, it's free. I came by that day to surprise them but I think I'm the one who got surprise. Tammy and Larry are always on the go. Multitasking but very attentive to their clients. They does above and beyond. I've been getting my haircut from Tammy and then her husband Larry for almost the past 13 years now. From my 8th grade promotion, high school junior and senior prom, high school graduation, and then college graduation, my first job interview, second job interview and every occasion and touch up in between. They keep me looking fresh. This is Tammy's new location, she used to be located at Salon #1 on the Webster in Alameda. A smaller shop, but still the excellent service and familial touch that I've come to expect from Tammy and Larry. My upload photos are from Larry, who's a great hairstylist/barber in his own right. Tammy better stay on her sharp and watch out for Larry because he's good. They make you feel welcome, offer great suggestions on the latest trends and styles. Definitely opt for cut and hairwash, you will feel rejuvenated everytime. I even a received a facial for the first time for their grand opening promotion and it was a whole new experience for me. They prices have always been affordable and fair to me. You could get a cheaper cut elsewhere or from one of those franchise locations but it's not the homey special touch you get from Tammy and Larry. read more

Worst experience ever. Please don't come here and save your time and money. I went in for a consultation. I originally was with a lady but then she called a man to come look at my hair. Out of no where he starts to bleached my hair without my permission and even after I said no. He continued do it. He did not speak very good english and it was really hard to communicate that this isn't what i wanted. He also got bleach stains on my clothes. And just to make it worse he was very creepy towards me. Very uncomfortable. Very upsetting experience. I've had the worst experience here. read more

How do I even start to describe how I feel. I went to Tammy because I've gotten my hair cut with her before and all of the yelp reviews were amazing. I went to her on Friday 9/23/22 around 4ish I asked her if she had time for a walk in and she said of course to have a seat. I showed her the style I wanted and she said she could do it, in the end it wasn't what I asked for at all. Later that afternoon when I got home my hair started turning BLUE in different areas. I started looking more into my hair and noticed a lot of imperfections and a poor job that was done. She also "trimmed" my hair and it's so uneven. While she was doing my hair she mentioned how she's usually off around 5 and she stayed later to do my hair which is probably the reason for the half ass poorly done job. My hair looks so bad I don't even let it down I've only been having it up in a bun so I can wait for someone else who can help me fix the damage that was done. It's taken me a couple of days to even write a review because I just didn't have the courage to say anything but the price I paid was just unacceptable, $295 for this, is really really bad. read more

They really know what they're doing!! I went in to get some purple highlights and a new base color, and Tammy helped me find the perfect combo of colors right away. I made an appointment and asked how long they would need, and was told only 2 hours. I had gotten the same thing done at a different salon and it took 4 hours, so I was skeptical......it ended up only taking 1.5 hours!!! To bleach the highlights, color the base, color the highlights and style my hair! As the mother of a 2 year old my free time is precious, so I was delighted to be able to get in and out so quickly. The colors turned out exactly how I wanted them, and Tammy and Larry were very nice, overall it was a wonderful experience! 3 weeks later and my hair still looks great!
