I called to book a men's wavy perm and haircut and got an appointment for the same day. The salon is inside a house and clean and welcoming, Crystal and her husband are talkative and friendly. Crystal gave me a consult and recommended a tighter perm instead for my result since my hair texture is so hard and told me it would loosen to my liking over time. I think the product she uses was higher quality because my previous perms would fall out in a few weeks, but my perm from here is still lasting well weeks later The service took only 3 hours. The price was ridiculously affordable. Another salon in the area would charge 2-3x and not do as good as a job.. highly recommend this salon in Oakland! read more

Crystal was superb! I was looking for a hairstylist around the neighborhood and i really found a gem. I've had long black virgin hair for almost 3 years and wanted a total makeover. She was a good listener, very friendly, and very knowledgeable about her work. Her wash service was the Best! Pricing is fair compared to other hair salons because it is located at their home. Great service with affordable prices! I was in town for a friend's wedding and wanted someplace cheap to get my hair washed, blown out, and curled. I found Crystal on Yelp and called ahead to ask for pricing. She was very honest and said it'd be about $25 but may be more depending on the length of my hair. When I actually went in, she was true to her word and told me upfront that it would be $30. I said that was fine and she proceeded to wash my hair. I showed her a picture of what kind of curls I wanted and less than an hour later, she was finished! I will use Crystals salon for getting my hair cuts moving forward. For the last 25 years I had my parents cut my hair to save money. I'm a guy and I saw nothing wrong with getting my parents to do it. As I got older I would get body warmth and that heat really didn't go away. When i got a professional haircut for the first time with Crystal I could actually feel the difference in my body temperature as it was cooler. They cut my hair that allowed my head to dissipate the body heat correctly and be able to breath. This was a haircut I never had growing up. It was amazing to feel so much better. So happy to finally try out this place as I walked away really satisfied. Crystal took really good care of my hair, she offered honest opinions and very decent prices. When she was washing my hair, she asked if I wanted to wax my brows, the last time I had it waxed them was 4 years ago for my wedding lol. I have never writing a YELP review although I use yelp all the time but this time it is a must. I called Crystal on a Friday and she agreed to take me the very next day at 9am. She was super friendly from the get go. It was pouring out and she helped with my coat. I had told her that I had not gotten my hair cut in a while becasue the last time I did I hated it. She sat me down and just asked me questions ,,,lots of very good questions. She also really listened to the my answers and we got started... some how we ended up talking about my 6 six year old who is autistic told her he never sits still for a hair cut. She told me she could do it and it so happened that he and my husband dropped by to see how long I would be. She said she coudl cut his hair at the very moment. Well, let me tell you she did it ...she talked to him....she brought out her puppy "happy" for my son to be distracted long enough fo rher to do her "Edward Scissor Hands." HE FINALLY GOT A NICE HAIR !! She spent over an hour on my hair and it was perfect exactly had I said I wanted it. That has never happened. I called my mother in law on the way home and told her I had found Cyrstal ...now she wants to go...not even a hour later my father in law called and wanted to know what her contact number was... She had always been doing me and my wife's hair from when she was working in a salon in Alameda where she was the most sought after stylist. So when she decided to open up her own salon, I naturally followed. This is pretty cool because now I'm paying much less than before for the same professional service. Crystal is super friendly and always a treat to talk to. Her shop is close to the freeway, easy to find and has a lot of parking spots just outside her shop. I called the day before and made an appointment for the following morning. It's best to call ahead just in case she already has an appointment scheduled. Showed up on time and she was there waiting for me. It's done at a house but inside it feels and looks like a normal hair salon. Crystal was so sweet and a pleasure to converse with during the process. She definitely took her time with the haircut and fixed my hair (it was cut uneven from the previous place I went to) I enjoyed my appointment and felt that it was worth the money. I highly recommend crystal's salon! At first I was hesistant to go in, but crystal and tin took very good care of me. I've been through other salons who mess up my hair because I have " too much hair" as other salons would say! My hair is long, thick and wavy so I would always feel discouraged to trust anyone. Crystal listened to my concerns and assured me she will not mess up my hair by explaining step by step how she will cut my hair and gave me helpful advice what would look good on me. Crystal is great! I have dyed my hair myself for years and quite frankly, I was tired of my scalp and top of hair line being stained black so I decided to go visit a hair salon. Based on the reviews and within walking distance, I decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did. My hair dye was jet lack which wasn't the natural hair color so she has been slowly dying my hair with each application back to the color that it should be.
