Went in, 4/10/25, into something... based off of the other reviews, unfortunately my experience was not like the others. I've been here once before with Marcos where I requested the same haircut. The experiences were polar opposites. The start of the consultation was rough. Sal was tentative, impatient, and combative with me. I felt he wanted to place blame on me for not understanding the haircut I wanted. But when I had the haircut with Marcos, it never escalated like how it did today. I put the rough start behind me to just focus on the haircut. I thought the experience ended better than it started. However, the hair doesn't lie. One side is longer than the other (see photo). I don't believe Sal is a bad barber by any means. It's completely possible it was an off day. I simply think he was't able to recover from the tense beginning and so, the haircut ended up being rushed and uneven. read more

Just saw Mario and really enjoyed the cut. Bring a picture of what you like and he'll match it. He takes his time. I didn't even know this place existed and walked by it a few times. I recently visited New Way and went to Marcos for a cleanup. I didn't want a lot done, just a trim and he gave me exactly what I wanted. I've been here a couple times and liked it but today was the last time I'll be coming here. I called for an appointment and was given one. I arrived on time and found my barber Mr. Cho cutting someone's hair...no big deal I'll wait a few minutes and read a magazine. Well after waiting/reading for 20 minutes I got up and left! There was no acknowledgement from either barber when I came in or when I got up to put on my coat and walk out. If you want to get a haircut at a joint where they don't give a damn about you or honoring an appointment or any type of customer service then by all means come here! read more

Not being from this area I was in church of a haircut place that could fit me in after being turned away for not booking an online appointment from several different places I went inside and ask for a haircut where again they said I needed an appointment I thank them and headed back as I was leaving Mario the barber came out and said you could take me quickly which was a relief not only did I get a five star haircut but inside the barbershop was very clean everybody was friendly and I can't really say enough about the people inside so if you're ever around a need a top-notch haircut and a friendly environment and a clean environment give them a try you won't be disappointed. read more

Met with Mario for the first time. This is a simple, old school barber shop. No frills, no elegant experience. The barbers will take care of you and your hair. Mario's process is detailed oriented and careful with the process. I'm a big fan of the hot lather shave for the sideburns, around the ears, and back of the neck. Their pricng for a full straight razor shave is also extremely reasonable, just call in as it takes time to do. I'm going to try that next time. read more

Worst haircut I've ever gotten. I came here because of all of the good reviews and I have never been more disappointed. I tried to show the barber a few pictures of myself with how I wanted my hair to look (pat pictures) and he was very dismissive, acted like he understood right away. Half way through I realized he was parting my hair in the wrong direction (he didn't even ask) but it was too late. This is one of a only a few true barbershops left. Finding this level of attention to detail and professionalism outside of higher-priced salons is quite rare. Mario gave me a fantastic haircut at a very reasonable price. I would not hesitate to come back here for another cut and look forward to doing so when I'm back in Chicagoland. read more

Got a haircut from Mario at New Way and I have found a have a barber for the next twenty-five years.
