Sal was tentative, impatient, and combative with me. I felt he wanted to place blame on me for not understanding the haircut I wanted. But when I had the haircut with Marcos, it never escalated like how it did today. I put the rough start behind me to just focus on the haircut. I thought the experience ended better than it started. However, the hair doesn't lie. One side is longer than the other (see photo). I don't believe Sal is a bad barber by any means. It's completely possible it was an off day. I simply think he was't able to recover from the tense beginning and so, the haircut ended up being rushed and uneven.

He and his brother, Franco, are prompt, great barbers, and really decent human beings. They are also great with little boys. Despite repeatedly stressing that my curls shrink significantly when dry, the stylist hacked off far more than discussed, all while assuring me I'd "love it." Spoiler: I don't. My hair is now uneven, barely three inches long in places, and refuses to curl properly. One side is noticeably shorter than the other, like some twisted art project gone wrong. I'm including a before-and-after photo, along with a side-by-side comparison of me and Richard Marx as undeniable proof of this tragedy. I've reached out to corporate many times. I want a refund. Joe and Tracy are also good, but Silvia is quick and knows to thin out my hair (I have very thick Asian hair) without me having to ask. When I can help it, I wait for Silvia. This Great Clips location in Brookside Plaza has become my primary stop for a haircut, and my partner has gotten nice trims several times as well. I use the Great Clips app on Android to check in, so I almost never have to wait. The store is conveniently located in the middle of the plaza, and there's PLENTY of parking - literally 5x more parking than probably necessary in that plaza. Handicap accessible parking nearby, with several access ramps. On Saturday and Sunday the whole plaza can get really crowded. During the weekdays around 12 noon, it can also get busy from the deli and Stella's traffic. You never have to park too far, though, because of how big the lot is - just be careful, sometimes folks drive a little too fast in the big lot. This Great Clips is a copy-and-paste of just about every other Great Clips location I've gone to, right down to the decorations and even the smell. Man, I love the smell of hair products, and this place doesn't disappoint. The staff keeps the place pretty clean. The waiting area is generally pretty nice, but can get a little crowded if you go during peak hours (though I'll usually check in on the app and wait in my car until I'm next if there's a crowd). Everyone is reasonably courteous, and seems to know their trade well (Sylvia is my favorite, and Joe & Tracy are good too). I'm often in and out in just 10 ~ 15 minutes. Prices are very good. Bear in mind, I have a pretty simple hairstyle, so your mileage may vary if you have a more complicated hairstyle. The Great Clips in Brookside Plaza is my #1 spot to get a hair cut, at the moment. Sylvia has gotten my hairstyle perfect every time, and the location is so convenient for me.
