My eyelash addiction started by winning free mink lashes through a Yelp Event last year at another lash studio in Atascosita. I loved mink lashes so much that I would drive :45 minutes just to have the same lash stylist perform her magic. But eventually the minks were discontinued, there was a change in managers and I tired of the long drive, so I was open to find another dealer to get my fix. I learned that while the animals weren't killed for their mink fur and that they were brushed for their mink, that the animals were being kept inhumanely. That was enough for me to switch and find an alternative. I was referred to Jolie at New Wink and now I drive about :25 minutes, and I've switched to a non-mink, but with the same feathery effect. If you're thinking of getting lashes done professionally and want them to last a few weeks, consider the following: 1. Avoid facial steaming since it will unstick the lash glue and your precious lash extension will fall off, leaving your natural lash intact. 2. Avoid cheap lash salons that will do whatever length and thickness you think you want since too heavy of lashes will weight your natural lashes down and cause breakage. 3. If you enjoy rubbing your eyes and crying, you may want to save your money on lash extensions. 4. Be prepared to use oil free everything (facial cleansers, facial lotions and makeup) to avoid oils on lashes that will unstick the glue. With the proper washing of your face and lashes, you will prevent any eye lid infections or lash nastiness. 5. Be sure to invest in a dry lash brush to brush out your lashes daily. 6. Be sure to invest in a lash coating product to that will clean and protect your lashes every 3 days. Does this seem like a lot of work? Well, it is at first, but you get used to it. But here are some benefits, that I have found: 7. I never need mascara ever. This reduces the need for buying mascara and mascara remover. And I've noticed less wrinkles around my eyes since I don't pull or tug around my eye area. 8. My eyes always look done up, and I often go without makeup. 9. I look more awake. More compliments, and less caffeine. 10. I can wear my full face makeup and I think my eyelashes look perfect every time without curling and mascara. The only drawbacks are: 11. The occasional eyelash pain when having them installed on your eyelashes. Since they glue an individual eyelash on each of your natural eyelashes, I have experienced an occasional poke on the eyelid during the process. Even the steadiest of hands can slip. 12. They tape down the bottom lashes during the application process. This is a weird feeling to have your eyelashes taped down (medical Micropore stuff) while you lay down with your eyes closed. Think of it as an hour long Shavasana. 13. It's another beauty ritual to add to the regular: nails, hair, threading,etc routine. 14. My lashes last me about 3 weeks, and it's way cheaper to go every 2-3 weeks for a refill versus going every month for a full set. Despite the overall pros and cons, I am an addict. And now since I have about a year's experience in lash gettin', I thought I'd Yelp share my beauty addiction. I went to see Sydney at the Richmond location off of Grand Parkway yesterday and was extremely impressed! The shop is well kept, the receptionist was friendly and Sydney was an absolute joy! She did a wonderful job and is one of the kindest people I have ever met. We talked the whole time she did my lashes and it made time go by so quickly. It only took her an hour to remove what lashes I had left from another studio and to apply a fresh set. Other places I have gone to take almost 2 hours. I will definitely be back. Wish the synthetic lashes weren't so heavy. Hoping I don't lost all my lashes as they fall out. The techs were nice though , the lashes looked and felt good until they started poking and scratching my eye from weighing down my natural lash. I've had my lashes done many times before (took a break for about 8 months) and never experienced this problem. It's extremely uncomfortable. Make sure when you get your lashes done your tech gives a full examination and let you know what your eyelash can handle. Don't let them say whatever just to get a sale. I asked if the synthetic low grade lash would be too heavy and was told it would be fine (NOT) I'm sure the faux mink would've done just fine but I could've went to a much nicer place for the same price! Don't think I'll be returning though I don't necessarily discourage anyone from checking it out- just make sure what you choose is right for you! read more

I was going to purchase the groupon for $69 (original price is "$250") so I decided to look on their website through groupon which was their Facebook. I found that the group on price was the same as booking directly through them. I thought hmmm there's no way it's the same? So I called and got no answer. I saw it was an 832 number so I thought maybe I'll see if I can text. The number had iMessage which is obviously an iPhone so after texting I got a call back immediately which was great, however, she said that there is no difference booking through groupon or the company directly. The synthetic link lashes are $69, real mink is $99 or the best lashes are $129. Kind of a bummer! I thought the point of the groupon was to get the expensive lashes at a discounted price but that was not the case. read more

LOVE! So where do I start? I absolutely love this place, i love my lashes, I love the location, I love the atmosphere. I've been coming to Jolie to do my lashes for about 6 months or if not longer, she's amazing, super sweet and just does an amazing job! My lashes always look great no matter what! Sydney I believe is the owner, she's super sweet as well, she's always so prompt at texting me back, I love that I can txt for an appointment vs sitting on the phone with someone having to wait on hold. This was the first "lash place" I've ever tried and loved it go in for a refill every 3/4 weeks. They do last longer however I like them as full as possible at all times so I keep coming back! I have mixed feelings about this place. First off, I bought a groupon, which turned out to be the same price as it was in the studio so it wasn't a deal. When I walked in, there were no separate rooms, which was weird to me because some people fall asleep, which was what the lady did next to me and she was snoring off and on. After I was done, my eye was so red and irritated. The redness lasted for about 3 1/2 days; which looks very questionable in a corporate office lol. I purchased a living social voucher for $59. I did upgrade the lashes to the 2nd best because the ones that came with the coupon weren't for me. This is only my second time wearing lashes so I didn't want to be uncomfortable. Anyway the girl who did my lashes was very patient with me. I was having a hard time letting her tape down my bottom lashes, she was extremely patient. I will go again. The room is small I think there's 3 tables in a tiny room. With hundreds of places to choose from for eyelash extensions in Houston, I'd say this place is my #1. I've been to 3 other places before and my experience was always left with disappointment and shiny/plastic/heavy looking lashes. However, New Wink Studio has 3 different quality lashes to select from which makes it great for different price points to select from and you are able to compare the difference between the lash choices. I always go for the most expensive ones ($120 for a new set) but the refills every 2-3 weeks is only $60 which is great price point. The $120 lashes are by far the BEST ones (trust me guys, don't cheap out!), they are light, natural looking yet full/dramatic! I always get length 13 at the ends and length 12 in the inner/middle of the eyes (I prefer the overall natural/long lashes look over a cat eye look) but the ladies will most likely be able to recommend a length/look for you! read more

Let me just start by saying I fall asleep pretty much every time I come in for my appointment it is so relaxing. I go to Nora who is an absolute sweetheart I adore our conversations. Plus all of the other women there are so nice and they start to remember you after only a couple times. I am always getting compliments on my lashes even when I am standing next to girls who get theirs done elsewhere mine are always noticed. I leave always feeling happy and excited about my lashes. It's a smaller room and everyone has their own lay down area and they always keep fuzzy blankets next to you in case you get cold. They use the full hour on you always unless you are coming in for a small fill and they do individual lashes which look so much prettier. Very pleased with being their client and always tell my friends and people who compliment me to go to new wink studio located in the Alex burton salons in sugarland right next to first colony mall. They take cash and card and I always call to book my appt and they always make the times work for me. They moved their salon to a bigger room in the back suite in the #800's. Alex burton is confusing but if you keep going to the back you'll find them and you can call also they will walk you through on the phone. Fills are $40 - $60 which is reasonably priced for the work they do and the material of lashes they carry. Mine start to fade around 3 weeks and I bought the glue to apply every 3-4 days for $20. I love this place. My friend, Romy, recommended me to go here & she recommended right. I've never had problems with my lashes or when they were getting applied. My lashes lasts AT LEAST 4 weeks if not, longer. I will most definitely stick to New Wink to get my lashes done. I was quite disappointed that I was not told this when I made the appointment. This was quite dishonest in my opinion.
