The root cause ended up being a missing NVH foam piece - something simple, but overlooked repeatedly. Bolt also worked directly with my warranty company and made a real effort to get as much covered as possible, which I appreciated. While they were in there, they were upfront about the spark plugs - noting that since access was already open, it made sense to take care of it now rather than paying for the same labor again down the road. That kind of transparency goes a long way. Overall, the team comes across as fair, honest, and focused on doing things the right way. It's safe to say I'll be going back to Bolt moving forward.

I got the inspection done today and the experience was great. Jay, one of the owners, welcomed me to the shop, very friendly. I sat in the waiting area after they started the inspection. There was another customer there and we started chatting. He couldn't praise the guys there enough. This other customer and I started lamenting how a lot of businesses don't provide the same customer experience we were use to from when we were younger (yes, bunch of old guys lamenting the world is going to...) and he said J&J is one of the exceptions. Jay showed me some additional concerns on my car...brake and tire wear. He showed me the problem areas and said I have some time left but these expenses are coming down the pike. It was refreshing to see this sales approach...I was aware he was upselling the other services they offer and I was totally happy with that...that's what all businesses must do. It was the approach, education, and showing me why the repairs would be needed that convinced me that when I need the work to be done, I will go to Jay and his team. Well done guys and keep it up! Yes, I'm a genius. We're from Illinois and pulled in HP Auto at 4:30 needing help securing the bent awning so we could drive home. I was at his mercy. In about 45 minutes he got it all secured. This is the good part; he could have charged me $450-$500. That's about what I expected. but no, he thought about it and charged me $89. Mike, you saved the day for me! You're a Saint! I walked in for a New York State vehicle inspection, a service they advertise, but from the moment I arrived, Scott was dismissive. He immediately assumed, "You're probably here for an inspection, that's the only time you come," which set a negative tone. Before I could even respond, his uncle chimed in, bringing up an irrelevant issue about tires I supposedly didn't pick up two or three years ago. What does that have to do with my inspection? Absolutely nothing. It felt like a deliberate attempt to shame me and avoid doing their job. I expected to be treated with respect as a customer, but instead, Scott and his uncle teamed up to make me feel unwelcome. They didn't offer to inspect my vehicle, nor did they provide an appointment, which they are legally required to do under New York State law (§ 79.8(c)--if they can't inspect your vehicle right away, they must offer an appointment within eight days). Instead, their hostile attitude left me with no choice but to walk out--it genuinely felt like they threw me out for no reason other than their own bad attitudes.

It is now at the point where I need a new custom break line run in my car by the dealership. It is UNFATHOMABLE how professionals could have missed something so severe and never once alerted me to the issue. I don't know anything about cars so I take it to people who, in theory, should. Never trying to find something else to charge you for ever. They don't work weekends and will always schedule your service for the following week and once you drop it off it's ready that same day always. Very reliable and trustworthy people. My Buick has 214,000 miles on it and with all they've done, it's good for another 150,00 yet to go.
