The New York Bully Crew is by far the best rescue on Long Island. I have adopted 4 beautiful dogs from them over the years. My dogs come from different parts of the world and are all best friends. They saved these dogs from abuse and poverty. I also have a handicap dog Jesse, who was taught by Craig how to walk her first year of life. He changed her life completely. They are angels on earth. I've been trying to get in contact with them for a month. No one answers the phones or voicemails. When I sent a message on their website asking if anyone checks messages (my 3rd message as the one to the General Inquiry section and one to the Surrender section got ignored) they finally answered! Shocking! They don't answer to help, only to defend their ignorance. They say you have to send a message to their Gmail that's no where in their website. Rescued my pit bull from them in 2016. They are a rescue group and the bad reviews on here make no sense to me. They are very busy, you find a dog listed on their website- you reach out- you get qualified-you pick your dog up. No, they don't hold your hand through the process. This is a huge rescue group with tons of rescues occurring at once. If you need your hand held then go to a small rescue. The dog was estimated to be 10 years old, had his mouth taped and was thrown out in a plastic bag and tossed into a Brooklyn dumpster. He was named St. Vincent. Since then my daughter has been a dog-walker and my husband has been a dog-transporter. He brings dogs that are flown to The Bully Crew to the airport from out-of-the-country locations, police precincts, out-of-state pick-ups and adoptions and veterinary appointments. Our family fostered a dog that was recued from a high-kill shelter that was scheduled for euthanasia. It is extremely rewarding to help an animal that many people may overlook. As a repeat adopter, I hole heartedly support NYBC. I've adopted 5 of my 6 dogs from nybc, majority of my dogs were deemed "difficult or unlovable". My dogs have backgrounds of neglect and abuse, 2 have birth defects, 1 partially blind and used as a breeder. Fact of the matter is my dogs backgrounds and disabilities would have been a death sentence at other rescues. 2 of my pack were scheduled to be euthanized when NYBC pulled them. I have had vets say the repair surgery for my dog Presley was one of THE HARDEST she has ever performed. Fact of the matter is anyone on here leaving one star review, talking poorly about NYBCs process, or declining potential adopters is biased and in rescuing for the wrong reason. NYBCs fielding adopters is something im okay with. There is a home for every dog BUT not every home is a good fit. NYBC fields adopters and chooses homes accordingly, fact of the matter is if you got denied a specific dog and they recommend a different one there is a reason. Getting adopted out and returned affects dogs mentally and can break moral. I would rather nybc be selective then just let them go to anyone that applies. If you TRUELY care about the breed and the dogs you would respect this. It took me a year of putting in WORK to earn one of my rescues trust. If worked with trainers and vets. The first thing I have to say is leaving negative comments with a rescue is so terrible for the pups - it can make people hesitate to come and adopt when this rescue really is nothing short of FANTASTIC. I had nothing but a lovely experience with NYBC. My interview was scheduled shortly after I submitted my application. Everyone was lovely - John, James, Craig, and Joy were so sweet, informative, and really care for the animals. Their process is intense and there's a fee. Why? I work for a different rescue and received an anonymous call from someone about a dog being abandoned in a random location off Bronx river pkwy. Knowing I was at my full time job and also that I couldn't bring a random dog into the foster based rescue I work for I urgently filled out the abuse form on NYBC's websites. Craig called me immediately and asked for more info. Over the next few hours I provided him with as much info as I could and now this dog is safe due to his Teams rescue efforts. As a 3 time adopter , I highly recommend NYBC. Craig puts the dogs first and always gives you as much information as possible both behaviorally and medically for potential adopters. Having adopted a "hard to place " dog due to abuse and neglect, Craig made sure I exactly what I was getting into . I have adopted dogs through Craig dating back to 2011. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with him and New York bully Crew. My first dog had a little cough after adopting him and Craig immediately came to my assistance and got everything squared away with the vet at no cost to me. He even assisted me training him on a few occasions. I then adopted another dog from him in 2017 and was again very pleased with him and the after care for shots and spay/neuter process. As my dog recently passed at age 10 from cancer, 10 years after adopting him, Craig personally went out of his was to reach out to me and ask me how I was doing knowing how much I loved my son. I hate having to do this since I am a huge advocate for animal rights, safety and overall welfare. However, I called Bully Crew 2xs, left messages for Carol and John, I emailed several times and did not get any response. I was, and still am, extremely concerned about the welfare of a pit bull and wanted to see if the Bully Crew could help, and if not, if they could recommend someone. I'm super disappointed and would not recommend anyone deal with them, unless they are looking to be frustrated and ignored. Who knows how the dog i was concerned about ended up.... I've done volunteer work for this place numerous times. Once even rented a van and drove to Canada for some rescues (told would be reimbursed for gas n rental. That never happened). But that's not even the issue. I rescued one dog In particular. I forgot the name. But had severe physical ailments. This was about 3 or so years ago. For those 3 years I've asked a few times about a status update on this dog. And I've always got the same response. "She's at her fosters waiting on a surgery." Given how serious the condition was, I never understood how the dog could be waiting all this time to get a surgery, especially when that was the point of rescuing her. Was to help cure or ease the pain with her condition. Now I find myself blocked on Instagram by their main page and that little short guy w Napoleon complex Craig. I then take to Facebook. And simply ask why they would block me when all I'm doing is inquiring about a dog I TRANSPORTED, and then what do you know, BLOCKED on Facebook too. These people are clowns. We love YBC. We have adopted 3 dogs from them and they have always been amazing to us so to hear all these negative things really hurts our hearts. I met Craig & everyone at NYBC in 2015 when I adopted Juice. Juice passed away a couple of years later & I was so devastated I ran to Craig for another dog. That's when I saw my next baby, Pablo (Wade.) I fell in love, but Pablo had serious behavioral issues and Craig warned me about all of his issues & even sent a trainer to help us. After a few years, Pablo got cancer & needed so many surgeries and treatments. After a year long expensive battle, we were totally maxed out and when Covid hit, we just couldn't keep up with all of his bills so I reached out to Craig. He personally donated to our fundraiser, then he sent us to his own vet & covered the costs for all of his last testing/treatment. Pablo passed away shortly after but we were at peace knowing we tried everything we could until the last minute and that was only possible because of Craig. After Pablo passed away, Craig reached out to me about a new baby from Texas (Fury) that needed lots of TLC & we fell in love! We wanted to go get him asap so Craig paid for our entire trip & we went to go get our new baby! He was in really bad shape and a couple of months later he was also diagnosed with cancer & I called Craig crying my eyes out not knowing what to do ( we were still paying off debts from Pablo.) Within a couple of days we had a surgery appointment at his vet & everything was taken care of!!! We wouldn't know what to do without the help of this man & his wife. We are happy to have met him, and so proud to call him a friend. He did not have to do any of these things for us once the dog gets adopted out because they are no longer his responsibility, but he still helped without thinking twice about it. Reading negative things about them really hurts because people expect perfection out of everyone but this life he has is not an easy one. He works 24/7, never takes vacations and has a house full of dogs at all times. He fights for dogs & goes after the bad guys when no one else will. Its very easy to judge because of a few bad interactions, but lets fucking face it, most of us dog people like dogs more than people (including myself) so it happens sometimes. They have saved thousands of dogs & if something ever happened to them or if they closed down, it would be disastrous to our pittie community. Before I went through the adoption process I did a lot of reviewing different organizations and what people had to say about them. I for the life of me cannot figure out how there could be a negative word said about New York Bully Crew and how they run their business. The adoption process, while thorough, was easy and they remained helpful on the phone through the whole process. After being approved my girlfriend and I went in person to meet a few of the dogs we were looking at on the Internet. Two of the employees, Josh and Nicole, were exceptional in explaining and introducing us to a few of their animals. After a couple days discussing I went back to pick up our foster pit Brick. Again they were so helpful through the entire process from the start of the paperwork to helping load him in my car. Anyone crying about the adoption fee it's listed clearly on the website and it's literally the least you can do to help them continue doing what they do best. Craig the owner was also a cool ass dude who shook my hand and thanked me, as well as giving some pointers to make the whole process that much more enjoyable. I started following NYBC on social media many years ago and loved all their rescue stories. The story of D'Angelo is what led me to follow and support NYBC, however I gained a much bigger connection to the rescue; In Nov 2018, a one day old pup was rescued from euthanasia for having a cleft palate; My Mom and I followed the daily updates and this was especially significant because my mom was ill with stage 4 cancer and this rescue pup and all of the rescue's posts was something she looked forward to, despite her condition, it was part of her daily routine to follow. After a few months of following, my Mom told me she wished she could adopt Daliso; I knew he was not up for adoption as he had became a pack dog at the owner of the rescue's home, but I knew I had to try to get her to meet him. In Feb 2019, I sent an email to the rescue explaining my mom was terminally ill and her connection to watching little Daliso beating the odds and asked if there was anyway possible she could meet him....I knew this was a long shot; rescue is 24/7 and they also had so many followers and so many that loved Daliso- they get inundated with messages and I knew there was probably no way this would happen. After a few days, I got an email asking for my address and coordinating a time to come visit, while also saying they'd be bringing me and my mom NYBC gear. I was in complete shock; I cried, I couldn't believe that I was going to be able to surprise my Mom with meeting Daliso! Craig (the founder of NYBC) and his wife came to our home with Daliso and it's a gift and memory that is truly priceless to me. When your loved one is going through such suffering and you can make a dent in that with genuine happiness, it is truly beyond words to explain. We became instantly connected and Daliso's visits continued, up until her last days on this earth in June 2019. To have such intimate moments with a couple we had just met and seeing the love was truly rewarding. Daliso brought my mom such joy, they were inseperable. She looked forward to seeing him on Instagram and then his real life visits! Craig and V even took time to attend my mom's services and kept in touch. In August 2019, something happened that only genuine, loving people with compassion for humans and animals would do; they asked me if I would like to adopt Daliso, because they felt he was a piece of my Mom and would help me and our family grieve and heal. I couldn't believe what they had said, Daliso had been with them at just two days old, they saved his life. They tube fed him every 2 hours, they gave him a chance and he survived and now they were willing to allow me to adopt him?! I didn't want to separate Daliso from his human and doggie family, but they felt we were all put in each other's past for a reason and they were right. I knew this decision was not easy for them, but it came from the heart. I officially became Daliso's mommy and I have an extended family within NYBC. They have always been there for me and Daliso and even helped with surgical recommendations for my senior dog that I had at the time as well. I am a committed supporter of NYBC; In Feb 2021, I medically fostered a dog, for a few months, that they saved from the Brooklyn ACC; who needed emergency surgery and is now living a wonderful life, all healed up because of this rescue. They truly appreciate their fosters and accommodate all their needs. I have family and friends who volunteer, donate and have adopted from NYBC; all having the best experiences and utmost regard for what this team does to help save animals. Craig has always said yes to me when i have a dog in need and that is something i cannot say for other rescues. He is also one of the only people i know that will go into a rough neighborhood to help a dog. So I never write negative reviews...ever. Everyone has a bad day in my book. However I have never been more disgusted, horrified and disappointed than I was when adopting through bully crew. My story begins December/January of 2016. My soon to be husband and I wanted to adopt a dog (Krieger). We put in an application and within 24 hours we had a response. I set up the FaceTime video, explaining that we are renovating our home but would show them where the dog would be living long term and short term. I sat in my home waiting for a FaceTime for over two hours. Finally they call and the interview goes well. I was informed that they did not have a single approved application for the dog and made the appointment the following weekend for the meet and greet. The Wednesday before I get a text that says "we don't hold dogs, if you want Krieger you need to come sooner otherwise he will be gone". Needless to say my husband and I couldn't leave our jobs and run out to Patchogue and we lost the dog. The next incident was in April of 2017. We found a second dog through the rescue we were interested in. We meet the dog and learn that he is not neutered. The dog was all over our 14 year old female pit. Bully Crew informs us (as we are signing the adoption contract) that it will be our responsibility to take him to their vet the following week to have the surgery. My husband gets to the vet where he is informed that he must leave immediately because Bully Crew has an epidemic of kennel cough and our new dog would need to come back two weeks later. I immediately call Bully Crew as I was shocked they would allow me to bring my senior dog to a facility with an epidemic of kennel cough. I was told "that's not true" but we still were forced to wait the two weeks for the procedure. The procedure takes place. I go to pick up the dog. I was not put into an exam room to be told any after care procedures. I walked into the vet and they handed me my dazed and confused dog. I questioned them about pain management and was told "your dog is too big for oral pain medication". I asked to see a doctor and was told that the surgery went through Bully Crew's account so I was not afforded those luxuries. Three days later the dog's scrotum became inflamed and swollen, the size of an orange. We rushed the dog back to the vet. They seat my husband and I in an exam room and take the dog into another room for the doctor to examine. The doctor never came to speak to us. They bring us back the dog and a bottle of pills and tell us it's an anti inflammatory and to force him to rest. In the car we googled the medication and in fact t was N antibiotic for infections. Fast forward 8 hours the dog became aggressive and came to bite my face. Our 14 year old dog came to my defense and a dog fight pursued. My dog had several puncture wounds and a large gash inside her ear. My Husband got big several times breaking up the fight. When I immediately informed the rescue of the incident and asked them to remove the dog from my home I was asked to bring the dog to them. I kindly told them I would not put this dog in my car after he attacked me without provocation. Clearly there was a medical issue that needed to be addressed. Long story short Craig himself called me and told me that he would refund my adoption fee ($150) and pay for any medical treatment my dog or husband needed. To this day I have never been reimbursed the $500 I spent to have my senior dog sewn back together. But I can live with that. What I cannot live with is that today that dog is up for adoption and labeled "people and dog friendly". I want every dog to have a home but people should be warned of the dog they are adopting. The meet and greet lasts all of thirty minutes before you are going home. The dog needs someone who 1. Does not have children and 2. Experience with temperamental dogs. But bully crew needs adoption fees so they don't care. All in all please be careful. I love the breed and love what they do. But the dogs are not being screened correctly and the vet they will send you to is sham. I am not anti-pit bull, we now have a new big boy, a boy that was going to be put in a shelter because bully crew would not help his previous owner, and do not blame our incident on the breed. I blame the rescue for not properly assessing their dogs temperament, setting a potential new family up for a danger situation and heart break, and for putting my senior dog in a dangerous situation by exposing her to kennel cough. These actions are inexcusable. read more

I adopted a dog from them in Sept. 2022. I had no issues at all. I filled out an application on Thursday night and by Friday morning they were calling me up to do a home check and schedule a time to go meet the little guy. I had another dog so we had to do a meet & greet. They got along great and they said are you ready to take him home with you today, and I did. The dog I adopted had back problems from the time they got him from FL, but Craig told me the rescue would help out with any of his problems with his back, and he's kept his word. I've had to take him to their vet a few times for follow-up visits, along with my own vet. My vet & theirs (animal surgical center) both agreed he would do well with rehab. They did some fund raising for him and we did 4 weeks of physical therapy & acupuncture and now he's better than ever. Off all his meds and doing really good. This will be the 18th poor review in the last 3 years. I am extremely disappointed in their process. I am between a rock and a hard place so I had to give up my dog, a beautiful pitbull shih tzu who means the world to me. I followed procedure and filled out a surrender form. It states that after you fill it out, they'll contact you....a week passed with no word. Called their "operator" several times who insisted they sent my phone message via email. One woman didn't even know where they were located. I told them that I was driving from North Carolina for them and still nothing. I get there Friday morning to be told they are at capacity and being fined....spent the day trying to find an alternative shelter that would take pitties and not murder my best friend. I wouldn't have gone through this if I had been given a call. Communication is absolutely necessary when your taking care of a NPO or else you'll be looking real sloppy like the Oahu SPCA. I went up to MA to where my friend had found a place and although I'm hurting, my love is with a better owner who can give him a stable home environment. I just ask that you take surrender forms seriously because some of us are losing our best friends to external factors and it's an extremely emotional situation. Not all of us are uncaring monsters. As a organization that helps dogs specifically the pit bull breed I'm sure they do a lot. Not knocking them for that, but they are super unorganized. If you plan to adopt I suggest goin elsewhere. I filled out an application and paid the $25 fee for it, waited about three days before they contact me for a face time Interview. I thought the interview went well, the lady interviewing me Melissa was really nice. Said they would get back to me in two days...... well it's been 8 days and I never got a call back. The least they can do is follow up. If you wanna donate for a good cause this is a good place, as far as adopting based on my experience i do not recommend this place. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. We found a pitbul that needed medical care in Queens and we heard so many good things about the place that we gave it a shot. We called and they said to email them instead. We sent email after email saying that we were coming with no response. We then read on the website that they never turn down a dog, yeah my a**. We drive almost 2 hours to they're building (which is in the shadier side of Patchogue) and we get turned down at the gate and was told there's a 6 month wait. This could of all been avoided if we were just told that there was a wait on the phone. We are just lucky we didn't need to call animal control and our little buddy found a good home. Don't ever use NY Bully Crew if you have a rescue pitbul in your possession. They will lie and turn you away. read more

Honestly can't say enough positive things about this organization. The entire staff works tirelessly and selflessly day in and day out to rescue the forgotten and mistreated. From start to finish of our adoption process their entire staff was nothing short of professional and compassionate to our needs as a family. They really took their time to go over our application,checking references and even doing a home inspection to see where our potential dog would live. Something not all rescues do. They even called our vet to ensure our past and current pets were being kept up to date on vaccines and regularly seen by our vet. Basically in a nut shell they put in the extra time to ensure they adopt their dogs out to responsible and loving families. Not like some shelters where you can just basically walk in that day and walk out with a dog. They don't just allow and Joe Shmoe to adopt from them and for good reason in my opinion. So I was very at ease with them when it came time to helping us choose the right dog for our family as we didn't have one particular dog in mind. John the front office manager took the time to speak with me at great lengths over a course of several days also helping educate me about things i had questions about along the way. The day we went to meet some of their dogs John thought would suit us as a family; I was absolutely delighted to see how happy and well kept every dog we encountered in the facility was. I observed every single staff member there being loving and sweet with every dog that they were walking,feeding etc. You can absolutely tell that they do their very best to make the dogs happy and content while they await there turn to be adopted. Well I'm happy to say John nailed it and introduced us to our newest family member Neve and she is absolutely exactly what we were missing in our life. We couldn't be happier. Thank you New York Bully Cree for doing what you do and thank you for gifting us the love of my life. Keep up all your amazing work. You guys are the real deal! We will absolutely be recommending all we know looking to adopt to you guys. Your dedication is beyond compare and it truly shows! We will definitely be back in the future. read more
