I get a lot of to go orders for McAllister's and I don't usually have a problem. But today when I got my grilled chicken sandwich, the chicken made me gag. It tasted like bad chicken. I've never had this type of experience before, so I was very surprised. I always get the potato salad and it is always great, but the sandwich was not edible. I did send some feedback to the restaurant on their app. I suggest you get the app because you do get points and it adds up for discounts or free food or drink I was disappointed. I often forget McAlister's is here, but my wife recently suggested it for lunch. I got the Reuben, and I have to say I think I liked it better than the other deli sandwich place nearby. There was a good amount of meat, but not too much. The bread was nice and soft--didn't stick to the roof of your mouth like when it's super soft. If it's not too windy out, there's a nice patio where you can eat. While it overlooks 31, it is set back so that you don't hear so much road noise. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love McAlister's. I will continue to go for different food items. But I hope someone from the Pelham location sees this and tells the staff to do better. I had to pour the cheese from the nacho basket into a different bowl to try and mix it and it looks like days old nacho cheese they decided to keep heating up. I decided on the Choose Two after seeing that I could choose a shareable and sandwhich. I haven't had the Mcalister's Club in probably two years because I have been stuck on the Smoky Pepper but I wanted something that had a variety of topping. My sandwhich was good but the Ultimate Nachos have become a favorite. The guacamole was the cherry on top. I am not a guacamole girl but this guacamole was delicious!!! We are here as a party of 5 days for an early lunch on a summer Wednesday. The place was nearly empty and thus we had 4 star service and 2 star (meh) food. The salad was just ok. Overall it was really just an ok experience. Came in for a late lunch, not very crowded. Place your order at the counter and then find a seat. Menu board behind the counter is segmented into different groups (Salads, sandwiches, baked potatoes, dessert, etc). I am a fan of the pick 2 option on their menu (similar to what they do at Panera if you are familiar with them). They have so many things that sound really good, so having the ability to get half of two items is a great concept. I went with the Horseradish Roast Beef and Cheddar sandwich and the Italian Salad. Found my seat and the wait began. For how crowded they were it Really felt like it took a long time for the food to come out, even if it prepared fresh. Once the food arrived the appearance was really good! The problem was it really lacked flavor. The salad and dressing really missed the mark when it comes to how it actually looks vs how it really tasted. The Sandwich wasn't bad, but there really wasn't any taste of horseradish in the sauce on the sandwich. Not the worst, and they are conveniently located beside Beer Hog which does not serve food, so I would probably return. Me and my husband Josh decided we wanted to stay close to home at a nearby restaurant in pelham on one of the past Friday nights when we were struck with no place to go. We stumbled upon mcallisters. I thought to myself, what a wonderful place for a deli, like food and ambience. Wrong my husband decided to order the fruit cup and found mold on one of the grapes. The service, on the other hand, was less intriguing to say the least. From the time we arrived, we were pelted down with loud personal conversation behind the counter. As well as around 5 people working as cashiers. In addition to the illbehaving staff, some were very professional while taking mine and my husband's orders. Yet one boy lacked the competence to put up his long ungroomed hair and I can only imagine the food it has stumbled into. Typically, our trips to McAlister's are uneventful...in a good way. Today, well, not so much. When we arrived at the Pelham location this afternoon we got in what we thought was a line. After noticing that the "line" wasn't moving, I asked someone behind the counter where they were taking orders. The two registers that were open were right next to each other by the call ahead station which looked like it had a mob of people waiting to get their food with no semblance of a defined line. It's not like the "line" went unnoticed, several workers saw several groups in it and didn't say anything. Communication isn't difficult, right? Sliding over to the new line, we waited, placed our order, and started to go sit down. Nodding to straws on the counter, my dad asked if there were straws we could grab since we already had our drinks...and the person behind the counter snapped at him stating that there are some "over there" another ten feet. Not a huge deal, but part of the experience. From there, the wait was on. With a sandwich shop/deli, you'd think that food would be flying out of the kitchen at a decent pace. You'd be wrong today. We waited, and waited. Several groups that were behind us in line (including more than 10 minutes) got their food before us. It took a few minutes under 30 minutes(!) for our order to finally arrive (at that time, my daughter had to leave to go to work). This experience isn't one that I've ever had at this location and I was very surprised. It looked as though they had plenty of front of house staff and not enough prepping food. Those working the drink stations and registers could've been helping expedite food, but that was the job of only one person. Oh, and someone asked if there were more napkins that could fill the dispenser where the straws (see above) could be picked up. They were told "yes" - but, in the 30 minutes following the interaction nobody filled it up. read more

Sunday is a very busy day for them. However, waiting an hour for sandwiches is beyond ridiculous. The kitchen was literally moving in slow motion. They were there by the hour and they made it known. We ordered for 3 and had to sit outside as they were busy. After 57 minute wait I went to ask about the order. They may have lost it, the same people in line when I got there were still waiting for food (to go). The quality of food is fine. The presentation is spot on. At least the kitchen sends out picture perfectness as they should with the amount of time they take for such artistry. Once they found my order we ate and were nearly half way in when the manager approach and she had already made a credit of 30% to my card (I did not ask for that). It was appreciated. However, the 3 star dropped to 2 because we found not one but three hairs in different parts of the food. We were nearly done and that did it. We left. Will not be back nor order for delivery again. This experience was our third is a charm time for us and they won't see us again unfortunately. Nice people but just cannot waste my time and also find hairs in the food. read more

I haven't been to McAlister's in ages. I had a gift card and went for lunch. SO good! Tons of choices. Obviously the tea is a must. The best sweet tea ever! I had the chicken chipotle on a ciabatta bun - delicious. Not spicy and the bread was soft and delicious. My husband got the tuna salad on a croissant. Always on point. Their food taste fresh, and their service is always great. No matter if you go for a salad, soup, or sandwich you know you are getting the best made item. I have been a fan for years and rarely disappointed in my selection. They make the best sweet/unsweet tea this side of the Mississippi. Their locations are usually very well lit and carry a lite hardy mood inside. I usually feel very well relaxed when I am eating in this establishment. The staff are always ready when you are to take your order and help with any menu selections you may encounter. The only minus I can come up is the prices of the food items. They use to be decently priced but now paying 9.00 or 10.00 for a sandwich plus tax seems a little extreme. read more

So I am not a big fan of large chain deli's. And I think the sandwiches here actually only warrant a one star rating BUT the massive potatoes and the soup are AWESOME, which led me to the 3 star rating. I go here just to pick up the CHICKEN TORTILLA SOUP! It is better than most sit down wait service restaurants...creamy with just the right kick of fire! And at such a great price. And the massive chicken potato is also a menu favorite of mine if I am in the mood for a baked potato-nowhere near as good as Jason's Deli but due to it's closer location to my home, I would pick up here if wanting quick and convenient food. read more
