Chicken over rice in Dallas! We were so excited about this place. Every time we went to Austin we would stop by halal bros so finding a place like that was exciting. Food- we ordered the chicken/gyro over rice and shared. The rice was not basmati/jasmine rice. It was regular rice so the texture being bigger was not pleasant at all. It made everything too heavy and the meat to rice ratio was weak. They mixed small pieces of lettuce into the bowl mixture which made it very soggy. The best part was the white sauce. This did not meet my expectations but then again every restaurant has their own style. I wasn't disappointed but wasn't satisfied. I've made this at home before and my version tasted better. Also noticed the cooks working with no gloves and wiping sweat from their forehead and continuing to cook , unfortunately will not be eating here. Pick up some combos from New York Eats for late night munchies and boy was it good. It was my first time trying their food and it was terrific. I got the Manhattan and the falafel combo and both tasted great. The Manhattan cost ~8.50$ and the falafel ~7.00$, pretty decent and there were plenty of food. I love the flavors of their rice and meats. Their white and hot sauces were also pretty good. Having eating halal guys in New York City almost all my life, these combos doesn't compare. This is a nice hole in the wall shop and to compare as closely as possible would say it's like halal bros, but don't get it twisted New York eats is by far killing the game of halal street foods in the taste aspect. I don't know how they're doing financially but that's irrelevant. I'm not sure when was the first time I tried this place, but it was before the store caught on fire. The reason I'm telling you this is because before the fire they were great after the fire they were AMAZING. They've added a lot more to the menu new design and setup and everything is just firing on all cylinders. A business that doesn't call it quits after a huge setback shows its merits in my book ! My go to is the Lincoln heights extra falfels. The rice is always perfect and the extra veggies and add ons give that personal customization. The meat is very well seasoned and I like how they try not to do too much just simple gyro or chicken meats. The star in my eyes is the falafel, I have no idea what they do to separate it from the others I've had but they certainly are doing something right. They're menu varies from burgers to gyros and you really can't go wrong with anything you pick so just try everything ! Also keep your receipts for $2 off your next purchase cause yes I guarantee you will be back. Perfect for dates lunch or dinner. I usually place an order through Uber eats (which this place has made accessible)while I'm at work and this is the perfect type of food that'll last long at room temperature. I absolutely love this place. I was sad when the one in my part of town closed down so now I have to order Uber Eats or drive over to Richardson. Such a great place! 5 stars for really nice service and delicious food. I was able to get the chicken and gyro platter, a chicken, gyro and falafel platter and a chicken wrap. I didn't care much for the wrap because then bread was thick and really soft, it pretty much fell apart while eating it, which gets really messy. Even with that little mishap I am still firm on my five star rating. Why? Because of the platters. The chicken was moist and delicious, as was falafel and rice. I really liked the bright, orange colored rice, and it had a nice smell to it. I went with my fellow reviewers and told them to pour on the white sauce, and boy were they right. The sauce was awesome, I really liked it on both the platters and the wrap. The prices were steep on drinks, but just fair for the food. The parking was a little tight, and the inside of the place is smaller than I expected, but again, the food and service more than made up for it. It's a little difficult to find because I never knew the name of the street it on but GPS for. I was impressed but the menu selections but I was there for the rice bowl, the girl that helped me was very informative on choosing my combo. Pros and cons about going to New York Eats. Lets first set the scene. Thursday headed in for lunch around 12:15pm. No line. Few people inside. Made for some quick service! Pros I had the Manhattan Mix. HUGE portion! I easily could have taken home leftovers but wanted to power through. That being said you are paying for this portion but very good! Lets move on to the rice. Some of the best rice I have ever had. I wish I could describe the flavor but all I can come up with is that it took me on an amazing trip to Flavor Town! White sauce. Bomb!!! Some great sauce. Really took the food to a new level. Cons I would consider myself a seasoned veteran when it come to lamb gyro meat. This meat was sub par to say the least. I am a fan of sliced lamb that you can really separate from what you are eating. This was chunked and hidden taking what should be a leading role and making it a measly stage hand. The lighter red hot sauce really disappointed me. It was on my first bit and had no flavor, no heat and was gritty. I am not usually this picky... however the place was not clean. Tables and chairs were very sticky which makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. A simple wipe down of the tables and chairs would do this place wonders! Definitely a great spot to hit up when you're starving late night and want something that's not the typical fast food chain. Well, it's basically the only time I'd ever consider stopping here. In my opinion, the only thing that's worth getting is the mixed-protein gyro option. This way, you can get a bit of all heir protein options, wrapped inside a pita bread. Personally, the pita bread is the only reason I come here. Delicious, soft, airy, and nicely chewy pita bread that's makes everythig else worth it. Generally, I always get a very generous portion of proteins in my gyro, to the point where things basically fall out. My late bight hunger appreciate that haha. I don't care too much for their special "white sauce." I don't know, I could live without it. I can also definitely go without the fries. They're bice big cuts of fries but honestly it just taste like the ones you buy in a frozen bag, to bake or fried, follow by a slather or canned cheese. I'd heard good things about New York Eats for a while, but was finally able to try them out this past weekend. I really enjoyed my meal. The food tasted fresh and it felt like authentic New York street food. I had the Jackson Heights platters which is definitely something I'd get again. We've come here a million times and have always loved it, but the employee Ronisha was the rudest person while taking our order, and for no absolute reason at all. As we were ordering she cut us off multiple times, told us "how am I supposed to know which platter you want if you don't start your sentence with it," and rolled her eyes when I calmly restarted my sentence after she interrupted us. Really good food. It can be heavy so anyone with a light appetite can expect to share a bowl or plate. The hot and white sauces are soooo good, they could probably make any meal taste good..so they're great here since the food is quality to begin with. I wouldn't recommend the cheese fries because the sauce is very basic yellow nacho cheese that congeals quickly and the fries are rather thick cut and not crispy enough. Very clean, organized, and well decorated. At 2:20PM the food was ready. Cashier was very kind and apologetic for the delay. FOOD: (Manhattan Mix Plate) The portion size was appropriate. Just the right amount to be satisfied but not over indulge. After a 15 minute drive home the food was still warm enough to eat. Presentation was just right. Very similar to New York style Halal carts. Pita chips replaces the full sized pita which isn't New York style but in my opinion was much better. The falafel and lamb were cooked very well and the veggies mixed in complimented the meal. The rice was a long grain orange rice which I've never encountered before but it was good. SUMMARY: the restaurant appeared reputable, the service was above average even though it was a little later than expected, and the food qualitt was satisfactory. I was suggested to try New York Eats a couple of years ago and never got around to it. The friend that recommended it said it was the closest to New York halal food in the area. I did take out and ended up getting two of their mixed rice bowls. It went home with me safe and sound and tasted great. All the proteins and veg were flavorful and there was so much rice! Never been but NY Eats is so good. Great service . I told her about halal brothers and she said she has been told they are better. Absolutely wonderful. I wanted to try the Hell's Kitchen platter but the have you taste the sauce, which is habanero. Was really good ( I love hot) but I was afraid it would be overpowering.
