Traditional banh mi cut in half. Pretty good portion and nice crispiness to the bread!

Finally made it back to try the pho, and very glad I did. Perfect dish on a cold and rainy day last week! Lots of flavor and very filling.

So my dear child wanted pho for dinner and even though I bought pho stick maker I never used it! lol She sent me this place closer to where we live because I was going to go to Elmhurst to pick up but thankfully she found this place bc I wasn't feeling well and started raining so good thing wasn't too far and on a quiet street off Queens Boulevard. The food was delicious! I think their shrimp & pork summer rolls are one of the best I ever had and pretty decent sized so not skimpy at all and rolled really well so doesn't break apart after first bite. I liked their shrimp vermicelli rice and they gave a nice amount of good sized shrimp! I definitely don't mind picking up from here whenever we/I get my Vietnamese food cravings! It was a small place and ambiance looked nice from outside. Had my dear child going pick up since I was in car double parked. When I called the guy was nice and told me how long and how much after I ordered and asked.

Decent viet food albeit pricy menu! I've tried the classic banh mi, the grilled chicken banh mi, flank pho, brisket pho and the spring rolls. Everything met my expectations and I'm glad forest hills has a solid Vietnamese spot to choose from. The banh mi was crispy and flavorful. The pho was sweet and hearty. It has a slightly oily aftertaste, but you skim off the fat.

This out of the way, unassuming Vietnamese restaurant looks like a cool neighborhood spot. While dining there several people came in greeting the workers with a familiarity that tells me they are regulars. We were told we could sit anywhere and was offered a cold cup of water. We were given menus which we looked over. There wasn't a whole lot of variety but they had an interesting take on tacos. I ordered the beef noodle soup pho with flank and brisket. My friend got the vermicelli noodles with spring rolls and a Thai iced tea. The soup was sweet and beefy. The noodles were soft and meat plentiful. It tasted pretty authentic. My friend liked hers as well. I'm glad I found this place in the middle of Forest Hills. If I'm ever craving pho I know where to go.

My first time trying Pho 99, I ordered food delivery and got the Grilled Chicken Rice Dish. Maybe because of the to-go container, the portion size looked smaller and I was disappointed by the portion of chicken. The chicken was cooked okay, almost too dry and not juicy. My second time, I dined in. The Brisket Pho was exactly what I was looking for. There was a respectable amount of brisket. The service was quick, and the restaurant wasn't too loud.

This review is for the house fish cake pho - get it and you won't be disappointed. The pho is perfectly flavorful and I love it extra peppery. They are so genius with the house fish cake. I am obsessed!

Really nice staff but felt the pho was a little lacking. The soup just wasn't as flavorful as the others I've tried. The bun bo hue broth was very meaty but not as spicy. They give you really fresh veggies to add to your soup though. Overall, it's still a decent pho spot.

BLUF: An impressive Northern-style Vietnamese restaurant in Rego Park. Most Vietnamese restaurants in New York City (and in Queens, NY) are Southern-style Vietnamese restaurants. There are so few Northern-style Vietnamese restaurants in New York that we hadn't heard of Northern-style pho until earlier this year. Phở 99, hidden behind Queens Boulevard in Rego Park, is humbly one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Queens, and a terrific place to try Northern-style cuisine. Prices are higher, but the quality is commensurately higher. Dishes we've had: - Beef Stew Pho (Phở Bò Kho): $20.25; $22.05 with tax. Get this. The broth was deeply flavorful; one of the best we've had. According to staff, the broth takes eight to twelve hours to make; and fresh noodles (as opposed to packaged noodles) are used in the dish. The stewed beef, tendon, and carrots were all soft and tender. Our leftover broth congealed well in the refrigerator, a sign of a high-quality broth. - Special Beef Pho (Phở đặc Biệt): $25.25; $27.49 with tax. Recommended. There was a lot of meat in this dish, at least as much, if not more than the Train Pho (Phở Xe Lửa; commonly the "#1") in other restaurants. The manager explained that all the cuts are done in-house with fresh meat. The broth was light, clear, and very flavorful. - Thai Iced Tea $5; $5.44 with tax: Get this. Flavorful, smooth, and creamy -- because it's made with cream; one of the better versions we've had. - Vietnamese Coffee: $5; $5.44 with tax. Get this. Flavorful, smooth, creamy, sweet but not too sweet. - Grilled Chicken Bánh Mì: $9.75; $10.62 with tax. The chicken is more flavorful and juicier at Joju, but the flavors are better balanced and the bread is better here. The daikon and mayonnaise could be a little more tart. - Crab Spring Rolls (Nem Cua Bể): $9.25; $10.07 with tax. An uncommon offering in Queens, try it. - Green Papaya Salad with Shrimp (Gỏi Đu Đủ Tôm): $12.75; $13.88 with tax. A good version, with fresh shrimp. The manager recommended pouring the sauce onto the dish, instead of dipping food into the sauce. Logistics and Other: Menus are accessed online via QR code, but new printed menus should be available in a few weeks. There are two well-maintained restrooms in the basement, down a steep flight of stairs -- watch your head, as the clearing height is low. The restrooms are European style in that the hand sinks are outside of the restrooms. The blue LED tube lights in the restaurant might cause some blue and purple fringing in your photographs. Suggested tips are based on pre-tax subtotals, and start at 18%. There is a 4% cash discount.

We love supporting local small businesses so we had to try Pho 99 when I saw it on a local Facebook group. A Viet restaurant serving noodle soup is much needed in this area so we were very excited to try this spot. Parking isn't too bad on a Sunday and there were several spots in the area. Upon entering the restaurant, it's long with a few tables. It's not the cleanest as there were tables unattended, seats with food remnants and floor was a bit messy. A random fly flying around. I'll give it a pass as they're still fairly new but hoping that gets cleaned up soon. Waiter had great memory as we ordered four dishes. The food came out in surprisingly great time for a new restaurant. It was all hot and fresh, too. Utensils were pretty and large. Beef flank pho - can't go to a Viet restaurant without trying this. As others have mentioned, this is an authentic spot and their food may be a bit different from what other Viet/Chinese restaurants make. Their broth was clean and flavorful, light on MSG as I wasn't desperately thirsty after the meal. More black pepper in the soup and a bit sweeter. The noodles are wider and appeared handmade. Very fresh, great broth, and nice thin beef flank. Quite delicious. Grilled chicken banh mi - also can't go to a Viet spot without trying their sandwiches. This is what I'm talking about! Classic! Bread was nicely toasted (without cracking your mouth) with a slight crunch and fresh soft bread on the inside. Chicken was great and light sauce made it an enjoyable sandwich. Nicely done and a great price - can't beat that! Grilled pork chop - different from what I'm used to but guess this is the more authentic way. Not bad and I like that the meat was already cut up for us. Vermicelli spring roll - not bad! Their spring rolls are also different from what those chain restaurants make but I liked that it wasn't double fried and the filling was authentic and what Viet food is known for. I'm happy this place is here. Likely to do takeout next time versus sit-down. Grab a couple of sandwiches and pho and I'll be a happy camper. Pho prices are slightly higher but I assume it's attributed to the love that goes into the broth.

I dropped in for a bahn mi (to go) that didn't disappoint. It's easy for this sandwich to become a soggy mess due to the ingredients, but the baguette at Pho 99 kept it crunchy and tasty. On my next visit I'm ask for less mayonnaise, but only because it's one of my preferences.

3.5 and rounded up since they have just opened within the last couple weeks and are probably working out some kinks. Was visiting friends and got takeout from here for a simple dinner--it's a bit tough since their location is on a side street so not as much foot traffic compared to being located on Queens Blvd, though my friend expressed a) they tried the pho there before and it's pretty decent, b) hopefully they are here to stay as there's no other Vietnamese restaurants in the neighborhood. We called and ordered banhmis and food was ready within 10 minutes. The storefront is simple, a couple dozen seats with a counter and kitchen in the back. Smooth pickup. I tried two of the banhmi, on both the bread was good, crispy on the outside and enough of stand up to holding the ingredients on the inside. - traditional banhmi $10.25: this was my preference, good level of savory flavor from the mix of pork roll, pork belly and pate, moderate amount of fillings, my friend didn't include cilantro in this (and as a cilantro lover) I thought the sandwich could've benefited from that brightness. - grilled pork chop banhmi $9.75: the meat was lightly marinated and in my opinion could've used a bit more marinade, and maybe a stronger pickled/vinegar flavor from the daikon and carrots to bring out the flavor of the other components. Also there were minimal cucumbers in my sandwich, not sure if that was intentional. Street parking is available though not plentiful in this area. A few blocks down the street from one of the exits of the 67th Avenue subway stop.

The plain pho from here is absolutely delicious. I got the vermicelli bowl with pork today, it's ok. The prices went up so it was $18. The portion is pretty big. There was a ton of pork. Like a surprisingly large amount. My only complaint is the packaging. It came in a bowl layered and it was really hard to eat everything together. They should put the greens in a separate bag like they do with the pho

Was in Queens and wanted Vietnamese but didn't want to go to Elmhurst - this fitted the bill! We didn't know it'd be so hard to find parking in the area though, but that's another story... The place is kind of no frills with simple decor, but we were happy with the food. Didn't get to try their pho broth but we liked their version of bun bo hue (not spicy but fragrant). Everything else was also satisfactory. Service was great.

I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get a sandwich from Stacked since I haven't had one in a while. I I walked in and waited to be greeted while the staff chatted and gazed at me for about 5ish minutes or so. Finally, I'm acknowledged and asked "what can I get for you". I saw they had a Thanksgiving sandwich called the "Gobbler". I asked how long they would have it as even though it's the November special, sometimes places might make it last through the holidays. When asked I was told "it will be available until whenever November ends". This whole interaction made me feel so unwelcome. It didn't look like there was much going on there in the relm of orders, but it still took them a while to make my sandwich. Finally they bring it to the front counter.
